<strong>Creighton</strong> claimed a share of its first regular-season MVC title since 2001-02, overcoming<br />

a three-game deficit in the final six games to tie Northern Iowa ... <strong>Creighton</strong>’s 27<br />

wins were second-most in school history and helped the team to a 12th straight postseason<br />

as well as 11th consecutive 20-win season ... <strong>Creighton</strong> went 9-0 in December<br />

and later had a stretch of 11 straight wins from Jan. 27 to March 6 ... the latter streak<br />

was extended to 11 when Booker Woodfox’s buzzer-beater stunned Wichita State in<br />

the MVC Tournament, 63-62 ... Woodfox would be named Larry Bird MVC Player of the<br />

Year and finished second nationally by making 47.6 percent of his three-point attempts<br />

... Woodfox was a First-Team All-MVC pick while P’Allen Stinnett was a Second-Team<br />

choice ... Kenny Lawson Jr. and Josh Dotzler were both named to the MVC’s All-Defensive<br />

Team ... <strong>Creighton</strong> set all-time MVC records with 302,676 home fans and 15,930 fans per<br />

home game ... the season ended with a tough 65-63 NIT loss against Kentucky.<br />

Defining Moment: <strong>Creighton</strong> overcame a first-half 14-point deficit with a strong<br />

second half. The Jays took their first lead of the second half with 4:44 left on a<br />

Booker Woodfox three-point basket, and the lead for good on a Justin Carter<br />

trifecta with 1:46 left. BGSU’s Darryl Clements missed a trey as time expired that<br />

could have won it.<br />

Key Stat: <strong>Creighton</strong> shot 63.6 percent in the second half while holding Bowling<br />

Green to 1-of-8 three-point shooting after intermission.<br />

Defining Moment: Jodie Meeks’ three-point play with 10.6 seconds left gave<br />

Kentucky its largest lead of the game. A potential game-winning three-pointer<br />

by <strong>Creighton</strong>’s Booker Woodfox was off the mark and Meeks grabbed the rebound<br />

as time expired.<br />

Key Stat: Kentucky’s trip to Omaha marked the first visit by an SEC team to<br />

Omaha since 1940.<br />
