book Dead Man Walking, and Vicki Schieber of Murder Victims’ Families for Human Rights,<br />

<strong>the</strong> evening brings <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ge<strong>the</strong>r seven of Hous<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>n’s religious leaders <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> explore perspectives<br />

<strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> death penalty in <strong>the</strong> city with <strong>the</strong> highest death penalty rate in <strong>the</strong> nati<strong>on</strong>. The<br />

program will include an aria accompanied by Dead Man Walking Opera composer Jake<br />

Heggie. According <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> Rt. Rev. C. Andrew Doyle, Bishop of <strong>the</strong> Episcopal Diocese of<br />

Texas, “We hope that this is a seminal event for discussi<strong>on</strong>s surrounding <strong>the</strong> death penalty.<br />

It is a <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>pic that should be discussed in <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>text of our lives of faith in order for healing<br />

and rec<strong>on</strong>ciliati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> take root.”<br />
