Apart from follow-up data from owners attempts
have been made to measure the physiological
impact <strong>of</strong> the airway obstruction and its relief
using arterial gas tensions (Love et al. 1987) and
tidal breathing flow-volume analysis (Amis et al.
1986). However, elderly dogs are not amenable to
controlled exercise regimes on treadmills and
techniques to assess respiratory obstruction in
dogs are limited.
