Use of redit info in U Pricing decisions
For over two decades, Indian Insurers have used a set of rating factors to assess otor O risk, that largely hinges on vehicle & broad
geography parameters. Accidents are caused by driver’s and driver related parameter is something that a few insurers have tried with
limited success, in the past couple of years. Credit history of the insured is a rating parameter that is both a powerful risk indicator as
well as convenient to use. In an advanced market like USA or U where there are multivariate parameters for rating (both on driver
& vehicle, credit has made a signicant additional impact as a rating parameter. The situation in India will be more impactful as the
number of rating parameters is minimal and driver parameters are still very nascent.
