The County Court of Victoria (the Court) represents
the intermediate tier of the state’s court hierarchy.
It is the largest trial court in the state of Victoria.
Our Vision
Our Vision is to be a leader in providing a high
quality, accessible and effi cient court system which
ensures justice for all at least cost to court users
and the community.
Our Objectives
The Court’s three main objectives as stated in the
Court’s Strategic Plan are to:
• maintain a high level of community confi dence
in the Court
• improve access to justice services
• ensure timely disposal of matters in the Court
We embrace these objectives mindful of our
strategic priorities to:
• maintain judicial independence
• achieve a strategic vision for the Court
• promote organisational excellence through
procedural reform
• recognise that our people are important
Our Values
Upon appointment, Judges take an oath of offi ce
to do equal justice to all persons, to discharge the
duties of offi ce according to the law and to act at
all times to the best of their abilities without fear,
favour or affection.
Court staff support the Judges in working to
achieve the Court’s objectives, while conducting
themselves in accordance with the values and
code of conduct of the Department of Justice.
Court staff are committed to being:
• responsive in providing high quality services
• honest, open and transparent
• impartial in decisions and advice
• accountable for decisions and actions
• respectful to others
Staff members commit to serving the judiciary,
the justice system and court users by:
• contributing to the implementation of
improvements to court processes
• maintaining and enhancing currency and
relevance of their work skills
• ensuring they achieve their performance
objectives as Court staff members
The work of the County Court of Victoria is carried out in this impressive building located at
250 William Street Melbourne and at 13 regional courts within the state of Victoria.
