Prognosis • Most cases improve almost completely with early diagnosis & treatment. • It has been estimated that the recurrence rate in the same or another limb is 4-10% and that it recurs between 3 and 20 years after the initial event. • Most cases of recurrence develop after a subsequent trauma or surgery.
Conclusion • CRPS is complex pain syndrome involving nervous system & locomotor system. • Not all patients have the same set of symptoms. • Pathophysiology is still a mystery. • Need early diagnosis & treatment to prevent complications. • Need to rule out other conditions that may mimic CRPS.
