A Message from the Chief Executive Officer:
Dear Animal Lovers,
Thank you for your wonderful and life-saving support! Through the generosity and
compassion of this community, the Seattle Humane Society has been able to save
more animals’ live, provide the healing presence of animals to shut-ins and to reach
new standards of program excellence.
Because of you, the Behavior Program is successfully transforming the behavior of
dogs formerly considered unsuitable for adoption and those dogs are living happy
lives in homes of their own.
Through your generosity, we have upgraded several of our animal housing areas
to help our shelter guests thrive in our care on the way to homes of their own.
We installed special doors in the south dog dorm to reduce noise and barrier
frustration for our dogs. We built condos to house our adoption center cats and
created other special areas where waiting cats can enjoy special attention from
volunteers and roam around in a room for exercise.
Because of you, the Seattle Humane Society was able to take a bold step to help
end dog fighting in King County by announcing a $5,000 REWARD for information
leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone who organizes dog fights,
participates in dog fights, promotes dog fighting, or officiates at dog fights in King
County, Washington.
Assisted by members of the Humane Teen Club, we launched Summer Adventure
Camps for Kids.
All sessions were filled with students who had fun while they learned about
animals.
The Pet Visiting Program has grown to 15 dogs and two cats who, along with their
owners, provide the healing presence of animals to people in hospitals and senior
centers who can no longer have pets of their own.
Through your generosity, the MaxMobile, our new 33 foot mobile adoption,
portable classroom and emergency vehicle, has arrived!
“Max” will soon be ready to roll around the county
leading the way to help animals.
Thank you for making this such an
amazing year. Your generosity and your
encouragement have made an incredible
difference.
Sincerely,
Brenda F. Barnette
