WP2: Comparison of national research programmes

• Information in detail about:
• 33 FRM research programmes
• 57 funding bodies
• Research programmes across all eleven
countries fund over €55 million of floodrelated
research each year, representing on
average 1 – 4% of the total national
investment in flood risk management.
• Most of the funding comes from the public
sector – primarily Government Ministries,
Agencies and Research Councils.
• The largest research programmes in
Germany, the United Kingdom, France and
The Netherlands.
• Predominant focus on natural sciences and
technical disciplines, but some programmes
developing a stronger integration with socioeconomic
research.
