Composite Teams
1. Composite teams comprising members from different clubs may compete in the various events at SLSA
carnivals conducted by Life Saving Victoria State Centre provided all members are financial and hold the
appropriate award and proficiency standing. No composite teams will be allowed at the Victorian Titles.
2. Whilst it is set down that composite teams are allowed to compete, they CANNOT WIN pennants or points for
any trophy whatsoever. This includes any major trophies such as boats, motors, skis, boards etc. However,
composite teams competing in junior competition will be awarded ribbons.
3. Code of Conduct
4. Clubs are reminded that they are responsible for the conduct and behaviour of their supporters and parents. Any
unbecoming conduct or behaviour emanating from members or supporters may be subject to action by a
Disciplinary Committee.
5. Refer to the 33 rd Edition of the Surf Sports Manual Rules 2.26 SLSA Code of Conduct, 2.27
6. Abuse/inappropriate Behaviour, and 2.28 competing unfairly.
Competition Prizes (Senior Carnivals Only)
If a member is selected in the State Team and/or Surf League and is unable to compete at a State Carnival which points
are given for a prize, the following will occur: the competitor will have their average points calculated from all the full
carnivals for that season. The resulting points will then be added to their final score at the end of the season.
Pennants, Ribbons & Medals
At Senior Carnivals pennants will be awarded to 1 st placegetters at full carnivals only. Pennants will not be awarded for
special event carnivals or masters events. No Pennants will be given to composite teams.
At Junior State Carnivals ribbons will be awarded to 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd placegetters, including composite teams.
At all Victorian Championships (Senior, Junior, Masters, IRB & Pool Championships) Medals for placegetters will be as
follows- 2 competitors Gold only (1 st ), 3 competitors Gold & Silver (1 st & 2 nd ), 4 plus competitors Gold, Silver & Bronze
(1 st , 2 nd & 3 rd )
Specific Event Requirements:
All Competition Events – for an event to be held at a Carnival 2 or more competitors must start the event
otherwise the event will not be run.
Senior Carnivals Only:
1. Under 15 competitors can compete in their age group or Open, but must hold the appropriate award of a Bronze
medallion.
Junior Carnivals Only:
1. Only (1) one March Past team per club, it must be a full team with pennant and junior reel to compete.
2. Reels used in the Belt & Reel event must be in compliance with the rules and regulations regarding the use of
this equipment, according to the Team Manager‟s Handbook (found below). Scrutineering will occur at every
carnival in which the event is conducted within the first hour of the carnival.
3. Iron events will be conducted in the order of swim, run, board and run.
4. a) The Aqua Cameron relay consists of a team comprised of four (4) competitors and will be conducted in the
order of wade, run, swim, run, board, run. Note that the three run legs are to be completed by the same
competitor.
b) Cameron Relay consists of 4 competitors from the Under 15 age group, with the order of Swim, Run, Board,
Run, which will be subject to the draw.
