Bro. Daniel Crudup<br />

Winston-Salem State University<br />

Student of the Year<br />

Bro. Daniel Crudup was recently<br />

recognized as Winston-Salem State<br />

University (WSSU) Student of the Year.<br />

The award recognizes an outstanding<br />

senior who has demonstrated scholarship,<br />

good conduct and service to other<br />

WSSU students.<br />

Bro. Crudup maintained a 4.0 GPA<br />

throughout his four years at WSSU.<br />

He was very active on campus serving<br />

as executive secretary of the Student<br />

Government Association, president<br />

of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, chair of<br />

“Ram Life Magazine”, president of Rams<br />

go Green; an environmental campus<br />

task force, and also served as campus<br />

ambassador of the United Negro College<br />

Fund and Toyota Green.<br />

Bro. Crudup was a resident advisor<br />

and worked at Touched by Angels<br />

Home Health Care. He was also actively<br />

involved in developing a recycling program<br />

in the residence halls and promoting<br />

green initiatives.<br />

Hon. Patrick McKeithen<br />

Florida A&M University, Student<br />

Supreme Court Chief Justice<br />

Bro. McKeithen is a senior majoring<br />

in Religion and Philosophy with a minor<br />

in History. Bro. McKeithen served as<br />

the Student Supreme Court Chief of the<br />

Student Government Association (SGA)<br />

at Florida A&M University (FAMU)<br />

for the 2013-2014 academic year. The<br />

Supreme Court Chief serves as Chief<br />

Administrative Officer of the Judicial<br />

System at FAMU. Supreme Court<br />

Justices assist in any situation involving<br />

infractions of rules, disciplinary problems,<br />

and issues amounting to constitutional<br />

controversies. Prior to serving as<br />

Chief he served for nearly three years as<br />

Associate Justice. Within his first year<br />

of service he garnered such awards as<br />

“Most Hardworking Justice” and “Most<br />

Outstanding New Justice”, but his leadership<br />

capabilities go far beyond awards<br />

or even his work as a justice.<br />

As a student leader, it has been his<br />

goal to serve the student body in every<br />

way possible while fulfilling FAMU’s<br />

motto “Excellence with Caring”.<br />

Bro. Ryan Gammon<br />

Tennessee State University<br />

President’s Volunteer Service Award<br />

Bro. Ryan Gammon is a junior<br />

majoring in Criminal Justice at<br />

Tennessee State University. Bro.<br />

Gammon is well-known for his<br />

commitment to serve others.<br />

Dr. Linda Guthrie is the Director<br />

of the Center for Service Learning<br />

and Civic Engagement on the campus.<br />

Bro. Gammon has worked with<br />

the Center on a number of projects.<br />

They were so impressed with his<br />

commitment to service they decided<br />

to nominate him for the President’s<br />

Volunteer Service Award.<br />

Bro. Gammon had no idea he<br />

was even nominated prior to receiving<br />

an envelope from the White<br />

House. He was both surprised and<br />

shocked to open the envelope to<br />

find a letter signed by President<br />

Barack Obama congratulating him<br />

on his President’s Volunteer Service<br />

Award along with an award citation.<br />
