WELCOME TO ASCOT 

2012 WINNERS - TUESDAY 

Appropriately in Diamond Jubilee year, the 2012 Royal Meeting was unique in global 

terms as it attracted the two highest rated horses in the world – Frankel, the pride of 

Britain, and Australia’s star mare Black Caviar. 

There were also wins for Hong Kong, Germany 

and Ireland over what was a spectacular 

week’s racing. 

I am delighted to be able to write that prize 

money at Royal Ascot this year will be a record 

£5 million, representing an increase of £500,000 

from 2012, and we have renamed the Windsor 

Forest Stakes to “the Duke of Cambridge Stakes.” 

The highlights of this year’s prize money 

changes are: 

• Increases of £100,000 to the St James’s Palace 

Stakes and Coronation Stakes (to £350,000) 

to bring them into line with The Queen Anne 

Stakes, King’s Stand Stakes and Gold Cup. 

• Increases of £25,000 to the Royal Hunt 

Cup and Wokingham Stakes, to bring 

Ascot’s flagship handicaps to £150,000. 

The Britannia Stakes goes up £20,000 to 

£120,000. 

• Increases of £25,000 to three Group Two races 

bringing the Duke of Cambridge Stakes up to 

£125,000, the Ribblesdale Stakes to £150,000 

and the King Edward VII Stakes to £175,000. 

• Royal Ascot’s definitive two-year-old races 

will both be six figure races in 2013, with the 

Coventry Stakes up £35,000 to £120,000 and 

the Queen Mary up £25,000 to £100,000. 

• Increases of between £5,000 and £15,000 

to a further 13 races - the least any race will 

be worth at this year’s Royal Meeting will be 

£60,000 (£55,000 in 2012). 

We have worked hard to make the international 

races competitive globally in recent years and 

our focus this year has been to enhance the top 

three-year-old races, the feature handicaps, the 

two-year-old championships and the programme 

generally. It is very important to us to have a 

significant minimum amount on offer, and 

we have set that at £60,000. 

Many congratulations must go to John Gosden 

and Ryan Moore, who won the QIPCO top trainer 

and jockey awards at Royal Ascot 2012. Our 

thanks must go to QIPCO for their continued 

involvement in British racing, most notably 

through the Champions Series which includes 

all seven Group One races at the Royal Meeting.

procedures and the facilities available to 

you, useful.

BADGE INFORMATION 

The Pass system will not be in operation, however Pass card holders 

are requested to bring their Pass cards for ease of identification. 

Owners, Trainers and Jockeys badges are hand written, named, 

non-transferable badges which can be prepared in advance to 

alleviate congestion on the day. 

Owners should arrange badges in advance by visiting 

ascot.co.uk/royalascotowners and completing the online form.

Please note that Owners and Trainers badges DO NOT permit access

OWNERS & TRAINERS BADGE COLLECTION 

For Royal Ascot the Owners and Trainers desk is located in a dedicated 

facility at the east end of Car Park 2. All Owners and Trainers should 

collect their badges from this desk. Please note a form of identification 

will be required to collect your badges. 

BADGE 

ALLOCATION 

OWNER/JOINT OWNER/ PARTNERSHIP/SYNDICATES 

An owner, joint owner, registered partnership or syndicate with a runner 

will be entitled to a total of six complimentary Owner and Trainer badges. 

A form of identification will be requested for collection. These named 

badges are non-transferable and valid only for the day on which the 

horse is declared to run. 

Owners and joint owners who have a runner will be entitled to purchase 

an additional two badges. Partnerships or syndicates with a runner will 

be entitled to purchase an additional four badges. These badges can be 

arranged by visiting ascot.co.uk/royalascotowners. Collection and payment 

will be conducted on the day from the Owners’ & Trainers’ entrance. These 

additional badges will be named, are non transferable, non-refundable and 

will admit to the Grandstand Admission area and all dedicated Owner and 

Trainer facilities on the day, on which the horse is declared to run. 

The daily badge costs are as follows; £62 each on Tuesday & Wednesday, 

£73 each on Thursday & Friday and £75 each on Saturday. A limited 

number of Grandstand Admission tickets will also be available to purchase 

from the Owners’ & Trainers’ entrance. 

BALLOTED OUT HORSES 

Owners who have declared a runner at the overnight stage, but have 

been balloted out due to the safety figures, will be entitled to receive two 

complimentary Grandstand Admission tickets. In addition, two further 

Grandstand Admission tickets may be purchased from the Owners’ and 

Trainers’ entrance on the raceday, subject to availability. 

The daily cost of badges will be £62 each on Tuesday & Wednesday, 

£73 each on Thursday & Friday and £75 each on Saturday. 

LICENSED TRAINERS WITH RUNNERS 

A licensed trainer with a runner may obtain two daily non-transferable 

Owner and Trainer badges. Trainers with runners on each of the five days 

of Royal Ascot will receive weekly badges. These badges allow entrance 

to the Grandstand Admission areas of the Racecourse and all dedicated 

Owner and Trainer facilities including the Weatherbys Owners 

Dining Room. 

LICENSED TRAINERS WITHOUT RUNNERS 

A licensed trainer without a runner may obtain two daily non-transferable 

Guest Owner and Trainer badges that allow entrance to the Grandstand 

Admission areas of the Racecourse and the two dedicated Owner and 

Trainer’s Bars. Please note that these badges do NOT allow admittance to 

the Weatherbys Owners Dining Room or viewing areas. These badges are 

for the use of the licensed trainer and one other and must be collected by 

the licensed trainer. 

A form of identification will be requested for collection. 

JOCKEYS 

Jockeys who are riding at the meeting will be issued with a non-transferable 

Owner and Trainer badge upon presentation of their Pass card at the 

Owners and Trainers badge desk. For security reasons this procedure is 

necessary in order to gain access into the Racecourse and Weighing Room. 

They are also entitled to claim for two daily non-transferable Owner and 

Trainer badges for guests. These badges allow entrance to the Grandstand 

Admission areas of the Racecourse and all dedicated Owner and Trainer 

facilities. Admittance for other Jockeys and PJA badge holders will be 

considered upon prior application to the Clerk of the Course. 

ROA, NTF, PJA AND RCA BADGES 

The above mentioned badges are NOT valid at the Royal Meeting. 

PARADE RING PASSES 

Owner and Trainer badges will NOT admit access to the Parade Ring or the 

Pre-Parade ring. As a general rule owners will be issued six daily Parade 

Ring passes per runner, however allocations to jointly or syndicate owned 

horses will be assessed according to the field size. Trainers will be issued 

with weekly or daily Parade Ring passes. 

ROYAL ENCLOSURE MEMBERS 

Royal Enclosure members with runners may purchase their Royal Enclosure 

badges the day before racing by contacting the Royal Enclosure Office on 

01344 878474. 

Tea and coffee will be available in this facility with a meeting area 

for owners.

2012 WINNERS - WEDNESDAY 

OWNERS AND TRAINERS 

FACILITIES 

WEATHERBYS OWNERS BAR & DINING ROOM 

STABLING AND HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION 

We have 175 stables situated in a secure yard away from the road and close 

to the hostel with ample parking for cars and lorries. We provide paper or 

shavings and while we will endeavour to meet your bedding requirements 

your preferred bedding cannot be guaranteed. 

The Weatherbys Owners Dining Room, which is reserved exclusively for 

the use of Owners and Trainers with a runner on the day, is situated above 

the saddling boxes in the Pre-Parade Ring. The dining room will serve a 

complimentary buffet lunch, sandwiches and afternoon tea. Tables cannot 

be reserved. The bar adjacent will remain open until 7pm each day. 

The staff hostel has 125 beds in 42 rooms with shared bathrooms and 

separate male and female corridors. Bedrooms sleep up to three people in 

single beds. The hostel also has a large dining room, lounge area and a bar. 

Accommodation must be booked in advance using the Overnight Stabling 

and Hostel Accommodation form.

OWNERS AND TRAINERS BAR 

During Royal Ascot an additional Owners and Trainers bar will be located 

close to the Owners and Trainers entrance, between the Parade Ring and 

Pre-Parade Ring. 

VIEWING 

Owners and trainers with runners have two dedicated viewing areas on 

Concourse Level, reserved exclusively for their use. Admission to these 

viewing areas will be controlled by the Owner and Trainer badge system. 

The main viewing area on Concourse Level is located to the west of the Iron 

Stand, beneath the Royal Box. This allows connections easy access from the 

Parade Ring. The second dedicated viewing area is located to the west of the 

horse walk, behind the stable lads stand and is accessible via the horsewalk. 

If you wish to stable your runners overnight or use the hostel for your stable 

staff, we require advance notification the day before racing. Please fax the 

Overnight Stabling and Hostel Accommodation form to 0870 421 4755,

High Street.

TRAVELLING TO ASCOT 

OWNERS, TRAINERS AND JOCKEYS PARKING – CAR PARK 2 

Trainers and Jockeys are entitled to one free car parking space in the 

Trainers’ & Jockeys’ Car Park (Car Park 2). Please display your NTF or 

PJA car park label to gain access. 

Owners with runners on the day will be sent a car park label at the 

five-day stage featuring their horse’s name(s) – this will allow free 

parking in the Owners’ Car Park situated in Car Park 2. There will be 

one label and one space for a single or joint owned horse, and two 

labels and two spaces for a partnership or syndicate. If, as an owner, 

you are not going to be at your Weatherbys’ registered address at the 

five day stage, please call Patrick Diamond at Weatherbys (01933 

440077 or email pdiamond@weatherbys.co.uk) with details of where 

you would like your label(s) sent. 

Car park labels featuring horses’ names that are not declared will not 

be valid. 

ROA and RCA Car Park labels are not valid during the 

Royal Meeting. 

DIRECTIONS TO OWNERS, TRAINERS AND JOCKEYS - CAR PARK 

From London and the North M4 Junction 6 onto the A332 Windsor by-pass 

and follow the signs to Ascot. 

From the West M4 Junction 10 to the A329(M) signed to Bracknell and 

follow the signs to Ascot. 

From the South and East M3 Junction 3 onto the A332 signed to Bracknell 

and follow the signs to Ascot. 

From the Midlands M40 southbound, Junction 4. Take the A404 towards 

the M4 (Junction 8/9). On the M4 head towards Heathrow / London. Leave 

M4 at Junction 6 and follow A332 Windsor by-pass to Ascot. 

All visitors are advised to arrive as early as possible and before midday at 

the latest during Royal Ascot week to avoid delays. 

DISABLED CAR PARKING 

Forward parking for disabled badge holders can be arranged in Car Park 

2, for owners and trainers with runners. This will need to be arranged in 

advance, on production of an official disabled parking badge, which is 

required in addition to the badge sent from us. Please call Kirsty O’Rourke, 

PA to the Clerk of the Course, on 01344 878529 to arrange access. 

BY RAIL 

There is a frequent service to Ascot from both 

Reading and London Waterloo. The average journey 

time is 28 minutes from Reading and 52 minutes 

from Waterloo. Regular services also run from 

Guildford. The railway station is a seven-minute walk 

from the Racecourse. For more details, please call 

National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484 950. 

HELICOPTER FACILITIES 

A helicopter landing facility is available close to 

the Racecourse. This is managed by Helicopters 

and Aviation Services Ltd. Prior notice is required 

in advance for landing facilities and insurance 

indemnity, please contact Helicopters and Aviation 

Services Ltd on 01427 718800. 

If you are arriving by helicopter we can arrange for 

your Owner and Trainer badges to be available for 

collection from the Paddock Office, which is located 

adjacent to the Royal Enclosure entrance in Car Park
