Lucent Technologies 525 connectors 

have a generous 6 dB margin -- which 

cuts crosstalk in half and assures 

Category 5 performance throughout 

systems that use multiple connectors 

(e.g. patch panels). 

Less Margin for Error 

The unique design of the 525 Connector features notches in the skirt to 

facilitate the use of a keyed connector on equipment. Such keyed 

connectors prevent accidental connection of low-performing Category 3 

and 4 cable assemblies to high-speed LAN equipment. A standard pinout 

ensures that connectors and hubs are compatible and eliminates confusion 

during installation. 

Quality and Reliability In A Host of Features: 

• Rigorous factory testing ensures high quality. 

• Notches in skirt facilitate the use of keyed equipment connectors, such as the 

Berg Electronics right angle Category 5 PWB connector. 

• Meets ANSI/EIA/TIA/568A Category 5 requirements, as well as FCC Part 68 

pinout requirements. 

• Exceeds Category 5 Power Sum Near-End Crosstalk (PSNEXT) requirements by 

an average factor of 6 dB (the noise level is less than half the maximum allowed). 

• Cable assemblies utilize UL ® -Listed, UL-Verified Category 5 25-pair 1061C 

Cable. 

• Assemblies are available in single-ended and double-ended versions of various 

lengths. 

• Side-by-side termination of conductors assures that twists can be maintained up 

to the termination point. 

525 Connector & Category 5 

Cable Components Provided by:

Lucent Technologies 525 25-Pair Connectors 

Mandrel: Special grooves on the mandrel allow insulated 

conductors to be anchored in position, preparing them for 

proper insertion in the connector housing. In each 

mandrel, all 25 pairs (50 conductors) are terminated side 

by side in numerical order. This design, plus the unique 

honeycomb mini-unit construction of the 1061C cable, 

simplifies the termination procedure. Pair twists are 

maintained up to the edge of the mandrel, assuring that 

the connector’s impressive crosstalk performance is not 

compromised. 

Housing: The internal leadframe of the housing forms the 

mating pins for each connector. Leadframe IDCs at the 

rear pierce through conductor insulation for easy 

installation . A metal crimp ring strain relief provides 

pull-out retention. 

Lucent Technologies 525 1061C/2061A 25 -Pair Cable 

• Meets proposed EIA/TIA 568A requirements for CAT 5 backbone cables including 

Power Sum Near End Crosstalk (NEXT), swept attenuation and SRI. 

• Performance independently verified by UL including follow-up service requirements. 

• Unique seven sub-unit honeycomb construction eases termination. 

• Small cable diameter and superb flexibility due to the absence of cumbersome 

inner jackets, core wraps, tubes, shields and binders. 

• 25-Pair PIC color code for easy installation on 110 and Telco connectors. 

Hood: The hood is designed to snap onto the fully 

terminated connector thus protecting the conductors. 

Clear Category 5 labeling minimizes the potential of 

accidental connection to non-CAT5 connectors in a 

CAT5 system. An easy-to-remove dust cover is 

included with every connector and connectorized cable 

assembly.
