With its well-equipped Victa range, Heco wants
to prove that excellent sound doesn't necessarily
have to be unaffordable.
Configuration
This more classical surround set by Heco is primarily
aimed at home-cinema fans who prefer a
more timeless design than a modern style. This
set's main protagonist is clearly the Victa 601 floor
box, which in this sextet is supported by a pair of
201 speakers, the 101 centre and the 251A subwoofer.
All passive models possess a fabric dome
to render the treble range and the bass-midrange
units are all equipped with long-fibre paper
domes, which are characterized by their extreme
low weight and high damping. With its 200 watt
amplifier unit and the front recessed 250-millimetre
chassis, the active woofer in this set delivers a
grand performance both in small as well as
medium-sized rooms.
Heco has, however, plumbed
for the classical build. Only the
Victa 601, which is used as the
main speaker here, is equipped
with a full-fledged three-way
system. In the typical D'Appolito
style, the two 120 midrange
units house the 25-millimetre
dome tweeter in the centre..
Sound
middle class
Heco's Victa reveals its strengths within just a few
seconds. These include the multi-channel rendition
which is full, strong on the fundamentals and
powerful in the bass. As this set holds back a little
in the treble range, the sextet is more suitable for
rooms possessing a harder sound character, i.e.
rooms with no carpets and/or heavy upholstered
furniture and curtains. Users who keep this in
mind will be rewarded with a homogeneous surround
field, precision details, perfect voice rendition
and a meaty basic sound with firm foundation.
Conclusion
Heco doesn't only provide excellent components,
almost perfect surround sound and an
extra helping of bass; it also delivers a generous
helping of loudspeaker. And that for a
comparatively low price of just on around 1,100
Euros.
