It is true that catch and release has become the norm with the sporting 

fishermen over time. Last Christmas I experienced myself the positive impact 

of this philosophy, when I fished the world record bronze whaler shark from 

the beaches of Henties Baai (Namibia). A big crowd (see page xxx) witnessed 

my 3h45min fight and loudly voiced their approval when, after measuring and 

photographs, I released the shark back into the sea. Next day the local press 

spend more words on the release than on the catch, but more importantly they 

were inciting the local sports fishermen to do likewise as the general public 

judges the gesture as a positive attitude towards conservation.

Another event which also influenced my thinking on conservation seriously 

this year was a meeting with Mark Rose the CEO of Fauna & Flora International. 

This conservation organization is the oldest and one of the largest worldwide, 

operating on projects for wildlife protection in 140 different countries. 

Amongst others, their Nyassa National Park (Mozambique) is an example for 

everyone that conservation and hunting can indeed work hand in hand. FFI is 

managing the park in a difficult post-war environment and decided early on 

that organized culling and trophy shooting in collaboration with the hunter’s 

community in more than one third of the park made perfectly sense for a sound 

balance of the wildlife stock in the park. Later on it became also clear that 

through this collaboration a much better poaching control was in place than 

in any neighboring park. All pro’s and anti’s should study this situation as today 

their eternal fight only works well for the poachers and no one else. 

Both happenings bring me back to my favorite message to all hunting 

and fishing sportsmen…please invest time into teaching your children or 

grandchildren to appreciate our great sport as they will need to stay in touch 

with nature to balance out the side-effects of the digital era.

Cameroon is at the heart of the Dark Continent. It offers all wildlife habitats known to Africa. For the hunter/ 

collector it offers the ultimate challenge with the Lord Derby Eland in the savannah and the Bongo in the 

rainforest. Cameroon offers four different spiral-horned antelopes: Lord Derby Eland, Bongo, Harnessed 

Bushbuck and Forest Sitatunga. Besides these animals, there are two types of buffalo, savannah and dwarf, 

as well as savannah and forest elephants, and the largest number of duiker species in one country… Basically, 

Cameroon offers the largest antelope (Lord Derby) and the smallest (Bates pygmy antelope) and quite a few 

stunning species in between. All huntable species in Cameroon can be hunted with African tracks on our 

privately owned hunting blocks. 

Our safaris guarantee a 100% success rate on our flagship species. We organise the safari from the moment you 

book to the delivery of the trophies for your trophy room. We assist in all administrative matters (visa, import of 

rifles), meet and greet our guests at the airport, and handle plane tickets, security and export of trophies. Our 

hunting areas are carefully monitored, have permanent anti-poaching programmes and continue to deliver 

recordable trophies and unique hunting experiences. 

Having conducted safaris all over the African continent, I returned to Cameroon because of the quality of the 

hunting. Basically, I wanted to share the ultimate hunting experience: “hunt on track”. This allows me to share 

with the hunter my knowledge of tracking, the intense contact with nature and the close contact with the 

game. A once-in-a-lifetime hunting experience !! 

The hunting season in the savannah is from late December to mid-May and in the rainforest from March to 

mid-July. Our stone-built camps are equipped to modern standards with air-conditioning. Our cars are tuned 

to provide the ultimate experience in suspension, comfort and safety. Our staff consist of carefully selected 

trackers and pygmies with whom we have developed a strong bond over years of hunting. Our skinners are 

trained by visiting taxidermists to ensure perfect in-field preparation of trophies, and we handle the delivery 

of trophies to your destination. At the request of our hunters, we can contact the best taxidermists worldwide 

who can immortalise your trophies in unforgettable memories. We hunt with the quality of your trophy room

As a professional hunter for many years, my first hunting season was back in 1988. I have been working mostly in Tanzania. 

I also travelled through many other African countries, such as Senegal, Cameroun (both bush and forest), Centrafrican 

Republic, Benin and Tanzania (both Selous and Massai country). All these experiences I have lived through the years led 

me to guide other hunters in western, eastern, central and austral countries of Africa. I offer to my hunters to be guided 

in Tanzania through the hunting reserves of Selous, Masai country. In Tanzania, hunting mostly concerns big cats, such as 

lion, leopards, elephant and Caffer buffalo or hippoptamus. There is also a great number of antelopes in the Masai country 

and in the south of Tanzania. Territories on which I guide my hunters have no secrets for us. This leads us to the best results 

possible in matter of hunting, and therefore we suggest the best dates and the best camps for our hunters, according to 

their needs and to the particular animals they are looking for. 

Masai Land 

Located in the heart of the Rift, the Masai country is delimited by large and semi-arid up north, by the wet yet refreshing 

Lake Victoria at west, dry steppes of Tsavo in the east and by the low tropical lands of Dodoma, the “geological shield” of 

Tanzania. Landscapes in our two different areas of hunting are numerous and offer either mountains, great plains, shrubby 

bush and a very dense savannah where thorny trees make the heaven for the little koudou. 

It’s on our territories that the “Great Cats” of Africa have decided to settle, fact that will definitely enjoy our hunters: slender 

leopards and majestic lions are numerous and live together on this great land. 

You won’t find a happier man and tracker than a Dorobo (the Massai tracker) when you tell him that you have come to his 

land to hunt a lion or a leopard, for as the two predators are the number one enemies of the Massai people. And once, they 

used to hunt lions with lances in order to prove to the group their leadership. Cosy yet luxurious, our camps are designed 

to offer our clients the best confort that they may look for after their long hunts in the bush. The safaris I organise in the 

Masai country last 21 days, and the hunting seasons go from July to the end of December. The 15 days safaris are organised 

between January and March. I also offer to the hunters who want to spend their 21 days safari on different areas, the 

possibility to hunt on both territories of the Masai country and the reserve of Selous. 

Selous game reserve 

With the beautiful Rufiji River and its two affluent, the Kilombero river and the Luwengu river, the reserve Selous is the most 

water supplied region in East Africa, besides from being the biggest reserve in Africa, and probably the most beautiful one. 

The concentration and the variety of animals makes it the second most rich animal life of all Africa’s reserves, just after the 

Serengeti. The 55 000 km2 of territory are part of the total of 75 000 km2 of the Selous ecosystem and include the National 

park of Mikumi and other uninhabited areas in the North, such as the Kilombero. Tanzania houses more elephants than any 

other country in Africa. The territory in Selous on which we hunt is located in the south of the reserve and is large 25 000 

acres, which represents approximately one half of this immense reserve. The south blocks on which we hunt are considered 

as the most prestigious ones in all Africa for hunting “Big Cats”. 

During a 21-days safari, it’s often possible to get an elephant, leopard, buffalo’s and also a lion all at once. 

These 39 years of our presence on the same territory led us to elaborate a very strict and confident management plan with 

the Game Department of Tanzania, which includes both regional development of various reserves within our territory and 

the qualitative searching of animals. Our techniques of hunting include the meeting, the tracking, and the calling as far as 

the lion is concerned. All our trackers are Dorobos, from the Masai country (see the page “Masai country”) 

I also offer to my hunters according to their desires and needs, to guide them in other countries of Africa, as Mozambique, 

Cameroon or C.A.R..

leopard, and all other exotics for example black faced impala, reedbuck, lechwe, roan and sable, in addition to 

the range of plains game already available. These concessions are situated in the Caprivi. 

With the vast African landscape as its backdrop, and the opportunity the come face to face with your prey, any 

hunting expedition at Aru is unique and unforgettable. 

The lodges are luxurious and fully equipped, offering 5 course buffet meals, a fully equipped gym, sauna and 

swimming pools. 

For the non hunter and observer we also offer a wide range of activities and specialties like horse riding, quad 

bike drives, game drives, guided walking trails, swimming pools, gymnasium and sauna. These activities are all 

included in the accommodation price. We also organize Windhoek shopping excursions, predator feedings on 

a cat and wildlife sanctuary close to us, guided Bushmen walks and we even offer very specialized treatments

Namibia has the largest diversity of biotopes in all of Africa, ranging from deserts such as the Kalahari and the 

world’s oldest, the Namib Desert, to red-coloured dunes (Sossusvlei) and sandy beaches along the Skeleton 

Coast or then again the subtropical marshes between the Okavango and the Zambezi. 

Twenty years of experience have taught us that all our guests like to discover all the different parts of this 

magical country, either by hunting or fishing in the different places. Therefore we offer you two hunting and 

two fishing destinations which we own or operate. Several combinations are possible, depending on the 

season, your availability and your mode of transport, all of which we would be more than happy to study 

together with you. 

Hunting the grandiose Etosha area and the massive Damaraland 

The southern border of Etosha National Park is well-known to hunters for its great variety of plains game. Our 

privately owned land covers a diverse landscape consisting of Mopani forests, dry river beds, acacia woodlands, 

plains, mountains, valleys and pans. 

You can hunt exceptional trophies and experience the magic of real hunting. Gold medals can be obtained for 

gemsbok, kudu and mountain zebra. The Damara dik-dik and the black-faced impala are even exclusive to this 

area. Leopards and cheetahs are considered the jewels of Etosha. 

We have three types of accommodations, each giving you different experiences on your safari. One way is 

using our African safari lodge with all the five-star amenities typical to the Southern African triangle and with 

an uninterrupted view of the surrounding valleys and plains. For a more typical hunting atmosphere, we use 

a camp with several thatched rondawels, decorated with local artwork and en suite bathrooms. For those 

nostalgic for an ‘Out of Africa’ atmosphere, we offer a live version in the tented camp where as the night falls 

the bush comes alive. 

More to the west lies the Damaraland concession. As no fixed settlements are allowed, we use our 4x4 and 

tents to set up fly-camps in a moonlike environment. 

All meals are served around a crackling fire under the clear African sky or under thatch in the central lapa, with 

unique game dishes. On the day you wish to take a rest from hunting, it is possible to go for a game drive in 

Etosha National Park or simply relax around the swimming pool and the spa of the main lodge.

Hunting the Kalahari dunes and Namib Desert 

South of Windhoek we own two hunting territories, each very representative of their specific biotopes. The 

Kalahari property features a combination of 74 sequential red sand dunes with the equivalent number of 

valleys stretching each over a kilometre wide. It is an amazing sensation to hunt in such countryside, as each 

dune hides a new spectacle of animals grazing in the next valleys. 

Here you can hunt mostly grazers such as springbok, gemsbok and wildebeest, all medal quality. 

Again accommodation can be provided in three different types of camps: the luxurious safari lodge with fivestar 

facilities such as pool, spa and restaurant; the comfortable bungalow of the hunting camp with its magic 

lapa and boma; or finally, real bush life in a tented camp. 

A few hours westward, we have our Namib desert property, which again is a totally different view from the 

Kalahari. Montana-like grass plains contrast with the red hills, which seem imported from Arizona. Hunting 

tactics change 100%, since here the hunter and the animals have little space to hide. So far our accommodation 

is in our dune hotel near Sossusvlei, 40 minutes away, from which we organise fly-camps on the property. 

All game here is natural resident game. 

What’s the best season for hunting? 

There is no good, better or best time. There is only a period that is less comfortable because of high temperatures 

and a period less favourable to hunting.

Fishing the legendary Skeleton Coast 

Set in the magical town of Henties Baai, on the edge of the Namib Desert, Fisherman’s Guesthouse welcomes 

fishermen and tourists alike. The lodge is the ultimate destination from which to experience the shore angling 

adventure of a lifetime. This beautiful lodge offers unforgettable accommodation a mere 200 metres from the 

beach. Listen to the sea, enjoy fresh air and cool evenings. Experience the different recipes for the catch of the

The nine comfortable rooms promise a good night’s sleep before the big fishing day. 

Renier De Villiers, our professional fisherman, will take you out on an unforgettable angling adventure. The 

once-in-a-lifetime experience is to catch a bronze copper shark (all the way up to 189 kg) from the sandy beach. 

You do not need to be an expert though, but let’s just say that the size of your shark will be determined by your 

patience and wisdom during this fight and not by strength or technique. Once the shark has been hooked, the 

pro will guide you on how to haul the catch in. 

If you want to change to edible fish for a day, you can catch big cobs as well as some locals, such as steenbras, 

galjoen or snoek. For the youngsters, the smaller sharks such as spotted gully shark are a good initiation before 

tackling the real stuff. 

Other activities our team performs are desert tours in 4x4, dune races on quads or shopping in Swakopmund 

and its harbour Walvis Baai. 

Fishing the mighty Zambezi and the mysterious Okavango 

There are different ways to discover the unspoiled beauty of the Caprivi strip, locked-in between the Okavango 

and Zambezi rivers. They provide the perfect backdrop for some of the most unforgettable fishing experiences 

imaginable. We elected to build a lodge along the Okavango near Popa Falls. The fishing takes place up- or 

downstream from the lodge, guided by an experienced fisherman in a small but safe outboard boat. 

The main attraction is obviously the tigerfish; people travel the world just to fight this prehistoric-looking fish. 

Other species are different sorts of bream or buddle fish, and the area is also home to two rare fish species: the 

broadhead catfish and occelated spinyeel. 

Non-fishing activities include game drives into the Mgango game reserve or Caprivi National Park and boat 

trips on the river to view hippos and crocodiles. 

In contrast, the Zambezi has a lot more people living along its shores. A few years ago, we started to charter 

a houseboat in order to organise our fishing trips onto the river from this base. Experience taught us that the 

houseboat provided flexibility to move up and downstream, depending on fish density. Our success rate also 

went up tremendously. Although houseboat life is quite a different experience, all our guests just love it.

The Zambezi Valley is the best big game hunting area in Zimbabwe, if not Africa. Rifa Safari Area is arguably

The area is perhaps best known for its cats. Leopard are abundant and can only be hunted during daylight 

hours, making this more interesting and giving it the work that it deserves. Two of the top 10 lion ever taken in 

Africa have been taken in this area, making this the number 1 area for lion in Zimbabwe. 

Elephant hunting is perhaps the most physical hunt that one can ask for. Elephant is hunted on foot. Whether 

it’s trophy bulls, which can be anywhere between 40 lbs and 70 lbs per side, or the notorious tuskless elephant 

that you’re after, Rifa is the safari area that truly has it all! 

Hippo are abundant in the Zambezi River and is a unique hunt that takes you away from the everyday tracking 

of the Cape Buffalo. Keeping in mind that they kill more people in Africa than any other animal, one has to 

show them the respect they deserve. A hippo hunt should not be done without including its amphibious 

friend, the Nile Crocodile. This prehistoric creature has to be baited for the best results.

The area has two luxurious tented camps on the banks of the Zambezi River, with all the luxuries of home. Each 

room has an en-suite bathroom and a sweeping view of the river with a cool breeze coming off the water. All 

rooms have invertors to ensure that the fans keep the rooms cool at night. A splash pool at the main camp is 

convenient for those boiling hot days. Both camps are run on generators, and all vehicles are equipped with 

freezers, ensuring that cold refreshments are always on hand.

The “Marls of Abaco” are a vast expanse of prime, wilderness bonefish habitat, situated along the western shore 

of Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas. The Marls have long been known by well traveled bone fishermen as one of 

the most unique and productive fisheries in the Bahamas. 

Abaco has more than 400 square miles of flats, none better known than the Marls on the western side of the 

island. Abaco lodge is centrally located directly on the Marl side of the island with access to them all. For twenty 

miles the average depth is four feet, a bone fisherman couldn’t ask for a better backyard. It would take a lifetime 

to fish the entire Marls alone but Abaco also offers some incredible fishing on the eastern ocean side of the 

island as well. “Abaco Lodge” has now been added to Nervous Waters portfolio of the finest properties to host 

our first guests, April 20th, 2009. As with all Nervous Waters properties, you can expect comfortable and well 

appointed accommodations, world class cuisine, top of the line boats operated by seasoned, expert guides, and a 

management & staff committed to providing the utmost in service and attention to detail. 

The fishing 

The Marls encompass more than 400 square miles of flats on the west side of Abaco. For twenty miles the average 

depth is four feet. The lodge is centrally located directly on the Marl side of the island with access to them all. It 

would take a lifetime to fish the entire Marls alone but Abaco also offers some incredible fishing on the eastern 

ocean side of the island as well. Cherokee Sound, the Bight of Robinson and Snake Cay are minutes from the 

lodge and offer opportunities at some of the largest bonefish. This location gives our guests easy access to the 

flats, whilst providing many sheltered locations irrespective of wind direction, within the interior of the Marls. In 

addition, from Abaco Lodge, guests have the opportunity to try for occasional Permit, Tarpon and Snook, as well 

as offshore and reef species such as Wahoo, Tuna, Dorado, (Seasonal Billfish), Snapper, Barracuda and Grouper. 

Fishing areas 

The typical trip does not fish on arrival or departure but we can arrange for a half day fishing if your flights allow. 

Breakfast is severed at 7; we leave the dock at 8 and return between 4 and 5. This schedule can be tailored to your 

needs with advance notice. Picnic lunches and cold drinks are taken to the flats in a cooler by your guide. 

We access the Marls directly from the lodge dock; the flats on the ocean side require a short drive. All of the skiffs 

are equipped with padded seats with a backrest and a lean bar in the front. The majority of the fishing is done from 

the boat but wading opportunities exist if you prefer. Runs to the flats vary from 10 to 45 minutes. The bonefish 

on the Marls average 2-4 pounds with the occasional shot at bigger fish. The ocean side flats offer opportunities 

as some of the largest bonefish in the Bahamas but they are incredibly wary creatures. The Bahamas are primarily 

a bonefishery and Abaco is no different. There are the occasional shots at permit, tarpon, ‘cudas, jacks, and sharks 

and we recommend you bring the appropriate tackle just in case. There is nothing like seeing a 20 lb permit tailing 

or the juvenile tarpon cruising the flat and not having the right gear set up. 

In addition to the wonderful flats fishing Abaco has incredible blue water fishing. We are happy to coordinate a 

day or two with the best captains available in search of marlin, sailfish, dorado, wahoo, or tuna depending on the 

season. Arrangements can be made at the lodge but the best captains book early and we recommend you do as 

well. There will be an additional charge for this fishing.

Algar Safaris is proud to introduce this world class dove shooting in Cordoba province, Argentina. Cordoba is 

the best destination in the world to shoot doves. Millions and millions of doves everywhere, a delightful climate 

all year around and top level service make this place a paradise for every wingshooter. Doves in Cordoba do 

not migrate, due to immense crop fields settled in the area, which provide them food supply anytime. It’s the 

perfect place for a high volume shooting experience. Hunters may expect to shoot up to 3,000 rounds a day… 

or even more… that’s up to you! 

The “estancia” is strategically located in a great prominent area where has been developed enormous dove 

roost everywhere and makes this region just incredible with the highest volume of doves in earth. Actually, the 

property is surrounded by huge dove roosts in the west side, just in the hills. In addition, hunts take place in a 

7.000 acres private lodge, which means that the hunting fields are exactly inside the property. We are located 

just in the middle of the flyways!

It is strategically located, due to the fact that the area is surrounded by thousands of square kilometers of 

marshes, which form the great Paraná River (one of the largest ones in South America). The typical features 

of this region provide the perfect environment for large quantities of ducks and perdiz. In addition, the lodge 

is situated on the coast of Gualeguay river, between the marshes and the high fields that are mostly used for 

crops, therefore hunters will certainly find millions of doves. 

The lodge is located near Gualeguay, in Entre Ríos province, Argentina, just 240 km. north east from Ezeiza 

International Airport in Buenos Aires. Driving time is around 2.30 hs. by highway. There is a local airport 10 

minutes away from the lodge, for small airplanes and helicopters to land. 

The Spanish colonial lodge was built in 1920 and the mansion features 8 bedrooms. It also has a fine living room, 

a large dining room, an excellent tennis court and several kilometers of coast bordering the Gualeguay river. 

Furthermore, there is a lovely majestic park of 10 hectares designed by a prestigious German landscape gardener

Since men have fished for bonefish, Andros has been a name synonymous with the biggest fish, and South 

Andros has built a reputation over the years as being the location to try for a ‘giant’. 

Names like Grassy Creek, Deep Creek, Little Creek, the Water Cays and Curley Cut Cays are intrinsically linked 

to sight fishing for some of the world’s largest bonefish. Ideally situated midway between the South Bite and

The fishing 

Andros has long been synonymous with the biggest bonefish in the Caribbean. The South and more particularly,

largest and most varied in the world, offering both opportunities to wade or fish from the boat, in the ocean 

flats or creeks and bights. This incredible choice of classic bone-fishing environments, as well as the numbers 

and size of the bonefish is what makes South Andros the bone-fishing capital of the world. Bair’s Lodge, famed 

for its access to the vast and largely under-fished flats of the South and West, is strategically situated between 

the South Bight and Water Cays, near Little Creek. This location gives our guests easy access to the flats of 

the South, whilst providing many sheltered locations irrespective of wind direction, within the interior of the 

Island. In addition, from Bair’s Lodge, guests have the opportunity to try for occasional Permit, Tarpon and 

Snook, as well as offshore and reef species such as Wahoo, Tuna, Dorado,(Seasonal Billfish), Snapper, Barracuda

Fishing areas 

Every morning, you step out of the lodge into a boat, and can be fishing within a few minutes, or you can 

choose to ride further a-field to explore the more remote, pristine white sand flats Andros is famous for. Deep 

Creek and Little Creek a few minutes run from the lodge, open into large bay areas dotted with many small cays, 

where there are always flats that offer protection from the wind. Both creeks allow access to the fabled West 

Side and other remote Cays to the South and South-West that may provide lucky anglers with the possibility 

of trying for Permit and Tarpon to complete the famous “Grand Slam”. The Southern flats are home to some of 

the largest schools of bonefish. Grassy Creek is a 40 min boat ride from the lodge. Weather permitting you can 

ride to Hawksbill Point and onto Cistern Point. This area sees little fishing pressure and is regarded as the place 

to come for numbers of fish. The flats stretch as far as the eye can see and wading next to these huge schools 

is the experience of a lifetime.

Futa Lodge Tenth Region, Futaleufú, Chile 

Across the border from Esquel in Argentina, and deep into the coyhue forests of the tenth region of Chile 

flow the azure depths of the Futaleufu river. A world away from the hustle and bustle that even sleepy Esquel 

represents, the “Big River” (for this is how Futaleufu translates from the tehuelche tongue) rolls along, amid 

some of the most unspoilt mountain scenery on the planet. South of the Chilean lake district, Futaleufu is 

a stand-alone fishery. The freestone giant grows healthy stocks of rainbow and brown trout that are fed by 

abundant hatches of mayfly, caddis and stoneflies. A heavy resident stock of fish and great hatches, combined 

with classic fly water, make the Futaleufu a trout fisherman’s paradise. 

The Fish 

The fishing at Futa lodge is largely based on the Futaleufu River, which flows right by the lodge’s front door. 

In addition there are some smaller rivers close by that are fished and some local lakes. For those wishing to 

diversify further we work closely with an outfit on the Argentine side of the border who can arrange excellent 

dry-fly and nymph fishing on a host of rivers near to Esquel. The Browns and Rainbows of the Futaleufu River 

and the catchment area as a whole were stocked from European and American stock in the early 19th Century. 

The fish on the Futaleufu River in particular have gone on to establish an extremely healthy population that is 

the envy of wild trout fisheries the world over. 

Seasonal expeditions from Futaleufu will also encompass some of the further flung lakes and coastal fishing 

areas. A large number of Chilean rivers play host to anadromous fish as well which every year grow in numbers 

as the fish themselves develop wild strains from the original escapee stock that first ran these rivers. Principal 

species encountered are Chinook and Silver Salmon with a few sea-run browns and rainbows. 

Fishing Methods 

A lot of the fishing at Futa Lodge is taken on float trips from the lodge and your guide will position you in 

productive areas of the drift or alternatively stop you on the shore so you can get out and wade. All methods 

will have their moment and you may find yourself searching the shoreline for browns with a big streamer one 

minute only to be fishing for selective rainbows on the surface the next. Water levels can change from week to 

week and the water generally drops as the season progresses. 

Vary your presentation markedly in each area fished until you and your guide find the formula that works best 

there. Pay close attention to the advice of your guide, whose primary aim is to recommend the methods that 

will help you hook and bring your fish to the net.

Shotguns/Chokes 

Selecting which gun to take all comes down to personal preference. Autoloaders are popular, as are over/under 

or side-by-side guns. With Rosy-Billed Pochards, Pintails, and other “big” ducks being the prevalent species in 

Argentina, 12 gauge is the gun of choice. Chokes are probably more open than you’d imagine - decoy ducks are 

generally at close range, and improved cylinder is about right. If you prefer not to bring a gun, we have Benelli 

autoloaders that you are welcome to use during your stay. 

Ducks 

There are 12 common species in this area of Argentina, which is an area called the central lowlands, or wet 

pampas. A fine book on all of the bird species, including the waterfowl, is Tito Narosky’s Birds of Argentina and 

Uruguay, which is available in many bookstores and online retailers. In order of abundance you should see 

these ducks as they are listed below. Almost all whistle, except for the Pochard which purrs, or burrs, like the 

Canvasback.

Kau-Tapen (“house of fishing” in the Ona language) is the original fishing lodge in Tierra del Fuego and the 

standard of elegance by which other lodges are measured. 

What started as the brainchild of Jorge Donovan and Jacqueline De Las Carreras over twenty years ago has 

revolutionized the way the fishing world views big trout. 

And, while the name Kau-Tapen might be cumbersome to newcomers, this lodge has made the Rio Grande a 

household name for fly anglers the world over. Impeccable accommodation, plenty of elbow room on the Río 

Grande, caring guides, select vehicles and equipment, Argentina’s best wines and menus, and enviable fishing

The Fish 

The first brown trout were stocked in Tierra del Fuego by John Goodall in 1935. Shipped from Puerto Montt in 

Chile, 60,000 ‘salmo trutta’ eggs survived the arduous journey to be planted on the Candelaria and McLennan 

rivers, both tributaries of the Rio Grande. These fish eventually found their way to the sea, possibly attracted by 

the rich nourishment of the estuary. 

These sea-run brown trout now complete the yearly migratory cycle of salmonids, spawning during the 

summer months in freshwater. Salmo trutta trutta remain in the river for a period of time (ranging between 

1 and 4 years) until their first migration to the sea, where they will feed and grow for about 6 months before 

their first return to freshwater, weighing approximately 6lbs. Researchers have found trout that had spawned 

more than 6 times. A trout that has completed four cycles of returning to freshwater can weigh over 20lbs. The 

frequency with which they return to freshwater is also an indicator that the fish face very few threats - whilst 

also providing a very real example of the benefits of Catch and Release.

The Shooting

within a scenic drive through the region’s rich farmland. 

• Each day the lodge donates hundreds of doves to local public dining rooms in the area. 

• The program generally starts at 8:00 AM with a hearty breakfast and short drive to the shoot. 

• In the field you will be assigned a pick up boy, who will provide you with shells and refreshments and 

direct you to your shooting stand. 

• Depending on the time of the year you will shoot till noon when you will be treated to an incredible

Located in the Province of Buenos Aires, just 85 minutes from the Ezeiza International airport, Los Crestones 

Lodge, was named for the Rosy Billed Pochard-Argentina’s most distinctive and sought-after duck. Set in a

of decoyed ducks followed by perdiz over dogs. 

For those who appreciate shooting behind a well trained dog, Los Crestones is special. Your host, Claudio 

Villalba, has been breeding and training pedigree sporting dogs for 25 years, and they are a joy to see in the 

fields and in the marshes. 

On duck hunts, you will be accompanied by a team of well trained Retrievers, making sure that lightly hit birds 

are recovered. The perdiz (a prized Argentine game bird) will be shot over German Short-Hairs and English

In our part of Argentina, the bag limit, or transportation limit is quite generous, but we hope that you will let 

your conscience be your guide as well, and compare this shooting opportunity to virtually any other decoying

find this system to strike the best balance between action and conservation.

For many years one of Latin America’s most exciting game fish was kept a secret in its heartland. In the last few 

years the golden dorado, or ‘river tiger’ as it is affectionately known has rocketed to the top of the hot fish list. 

Throughout much of its range, the dorado is caught in coloured or murky waters and generally with heavy 

spinning tackle. But since the discovery of the Iberia marshland and the establishment of Pira Lodge, clear 

water fishing on light spinning tackle and on fly rods has become one of the worlds most sought after angling 

adventures. 

Opened in March 2000, Pira lodge is the world’s first deluxe lodge to target the freshwater dorado. The 

lodge is located in the Iberia marshland, one of the most unique and fascinating wetlands in the world. The 

incomparable variety of wildlife found in the 3,000,000 acre marshland allows anglers to combine fishing 

with a number of other activities. However, it is the electric take and dazzling fight of the dorado that brings 

fishermen back year after year. 

Climate 

The dorado season runs from November to May. The Ibera area is subtropical, similar to northern Florida in 

the U.S. December and January are the hottest months, with temperatures up to 95 degrees. Towards the end 

of March the temperature cools down, ranging from 55 to 85 degrees, with mornings and evenings cool and 

comfortable. 

The Fishing 

There is little written on Dorado fishing on the fly. This is an exciting fishing frontier. 

Our guides have been exploring the area and Dorado fishing itself for more years than most. Their advice will 

help you maximize your enjoyment of this incredible fighting fish. 

The Dorado, (salminus maxillosus), is an aggressive fish, and once hooked makes impressive and acrobatic 

multiple jumps. This complex fish can be found near confluences, on edges of eddies, riffles, sharp bends in the 

current, and close to overhanging carpets of water hyacinth. It can be fished in narrow runs, on skinny water, 

large fish have been hooked in the deep runs, so let your guide show you the multitude of ever-changing 

locations where you can make contact with these fish. 

The Lodge 

Pira has 5 spacious twin bedrooms with large double beds, air conditioning and ensuite bathrooms. Large 

french windows open out on to a shady veranda from where to enjoy the sounds and sights of the surrounding 

marshes. Evenings are spent in the large living room and adjoining bar before moving on to the dining room to 

enjoy delicious meals cooked by your chef, which include Argentina´s famed beef and the best wines.

The Shooting 

Shooting at San Juan offers a variety of game that makes Uruguay a very unique destination, where hunters 

can enjoy the pursuit of an upland mixed bag in the same day, each and every day. Each morning you will hunt 

wild partridge or perdiz in short grass pastures, and over pointers and English Setters, or ducks and big wild 

pigeons by decoying in lagoons and ponds nearby. In the afternoons, volume dove shooting is on the shooting 

schedule, and normally doves are encountered, in large numbers, on a flyway enroute to a large roost that is 

very close to estancia San Juan Estancia (just a few minutes). 

Everyday you will drive to the perdiz fields or to the lagoons for duck and pigeon hunting and return for lunch 

at the lodge, or stay for a BBQ, the “asado”, done in the field by the staff. 

The afternoon shoot (normally high volume dove shooting, sometimes ducks and pigeon) will start after lunch, 

and will end at dusk. Each evening you will return to the lodge for cocktails and dinner. Your host and guide, 

as well as bird boys, will be with you to provide you with challenging shooting, and other necessities such as 

shotgun shells, refreshments and anything else you may need. Drive time to hunt locations is usually between 

10 and 35 minutes for the perdiz, ducks or pigeon fields, and from 5 up to 35 minutes for the dove shooting.

Located in the province of Paysandu, San Pedro Lodge is a living example of the elegance of a bygone era. 

It is a sprawling estate home that dates back almost two hundred years, to a time when fine ranch homes were 

centers of rural family life. They were also centers of agriculture, they proved family and workers with homes, 

stores, and a place to worship. In addition to ample living areas, San Pedro also has a chapel on the ground 

that dates to the 19th century. The chapel’s architecture dates from Victorian England, and was designed to 

resemble the Liverpool Chapels. Inside, it holds a magnificent vitraux named for “Capilla del Buen Pastor”. 

In these modern times, shooting guests will also appreciate that San Pedro lodge has quick and excellent 

access to both sides of the biggest dove roosts in Uruguay. The ranch is also located near a vast network of 

lagoons and rivers in the most important agricultural area of Uruguay. This creates the best possible conditions 

for resident and migrating ducks, while acre upon acre of short pasture fields offers perfect habitat for the 

perdiz.

with the assurance of a world class outfitter known for attention to detail, quality, and reliability. 

The Hunting 

Hunting and shooting at San Pedro offers a variety of game that makes Uruguay a very unique destination not 

only in South America, but anywhere in the world. It is a rare treat for the wingshooter that hunters can enjoy 

the pursuit of an upland and marsh mixed bag in the same day, each and every day. 

Each morning you will hunt wild partridge or perdiz in short grass pastures, and over English setters, or 

depending on wind and weather, the morning hunt could include ducks and big wild pigeons; both are hunted 

by decoys on ponds or in fields nearby. In the afternoons, volume dove shooting is on the shooting schedule, 

and normally doves are encountered-- in large numbers-- on a flyway enroute to a roost or very near a big roost 

that is just minutes from the San Pedro Estancia. 

Your host and guide will be with you to provide you with challenging shooting, and bird boys will also be there 

to provide other necessities such as shotgun shells, refreshments, and anything else you may need. Shooting 

each evening you will return to the lodge for cocktails and dinner. Drive time to hunt locations is usually 

between 10 and 35 minutes for the perdiz, ducks, or pigeon fields, and from 5 up to 35 minutes for the dove.

Villa Maria Rio Grande, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina 

The second of the de las Carreras family lodges to open on Rio Grande after Kau Tapen, Villa Maria has offered 

small private groups exciting fishing on some of the most productive pools in the lower river since 1994. 

A very different fishery to Kau Tapen or Toon Ken on the upper river, Villa Maria is a double handed fishermen’s 

dream, enjoying the first crack of the whip at newly arrived sea trout. With friendly and dedicated house staff and 

guides, Villa Maria is very well suited to caring for small groups of friends or family groups. 

Climate 

The Sea trout season runs from November to mid April. 

December and January are the warmest months, and traditionally the windiest. The sun can be strong during the 

day, but the wind chill factor makes the use of protective gear necessary all season long. 

The Fishing 

The sea run brown trout 

The first brown trout were stocked in Tierra del Fuego by John Goodall in 1935. Shipped from Puerto Montt in 

Chile, 60,000 ‘salmo trutta’ eggs survived the ardous journey, to be planted on the Candelaria and McLennan 

rivers, both tributaries of the Rio Grande. These fish eventually found their way to the sea, possibly attracted by 

the rich nourishment of the estuary. 

These sea-run brown trout now complete the yearly migratory cycle of salmonids, spawning during the summer 

months in freshwater. Salmo trutta trutta remain in the river for a period of time which ranges between 1 and 

4 years until their first migration to the sea, where they will feed and grow for about 6 months before their first 

return to freshwater, weighing approximately 6lbs. Researchers have found trout which had spawned more than 

6 times. A trout which has completed 4 cycles of returning to freshwater can weigh over 20 lbs. The frequency 

with which they return to freshwater is also an indicator that the fish face very few threats, whilst also providing a 

very real example of the benefits of Catch and Release.

naturally and kept in the wild. Many stags have 30 points or more and go up to gold medals.

and the quality of his deer. You will either hunt game from a hide on watchtowers or by stalking. The best

A French hunting permit or license is mandatory. You will be hunting with the owner, who will gladly explain 

the evolution of his livestock and his theories on genetics.

amazing”, “beautiful family château” … These are extracts from the Laplanque hunting estate’s visitors’ book, 

written by hunters who have stayed with us and left entirely satisfied. We are very touched and, at the same 

time, very proud of these congratulatory remarks. 

Located in the south of France (one and a half hours from Toulouse Blagnac airport and two hours away from 

the Mediterranean) at an altitude of 600 meters (1,950 feet), the Laplanque hunting estate is in a magnificent, 

unspoiled rural region, rich in traditions, gastronomy and charming villages that we are delighted to help our 

guests discover. 

Château de Laplanque has been in the same family since the 13th century. It has been lovingly maintained ever 

since and proposes comfortable reception rooms and bedrooms. 

The fully fenced 350-hectare (860-acre) estate has always been dedicated to hunting. The terrain is rough, the 

environment wild and the biotope highly varied. The grassland areas alternate with pine, chestnut, holly and 

beech forests and with heather-covered cliffs. Hunting is therefore difficult and exciting. 

Didier Roques Rogery and his son, Guillaume, founded the company France Safaris. Both are big-game 

enthusiasts and have put an enormous amount of time and effort into selecting the species they propose: red 

deer stag, fallow deer, mouflon sheep, sika deer and wild boar. Trophies obtained at the Laplanque hunting 

estate are classified amongst the biggest in Europe. Our red deer stags have antlers that may exceed 16 kg in 

weight and 36 points, and our fallow deer bucks have heavy, long and very wide palmate antlers. The most 

impressive mouflon sheep have thick horns, often exceeding 90 cm in length. Certain wild boar are particularly 

well tusked. 

The hunting season starts at the beginning of September and ends at the end of February. The estate is 

exclusively reserved for one hunter, alone or accompanied. Hunting is by stalking or from hides only. 

Didier’s wife Anne regales her guests with her culinary talents. Her meticulously concocted dishes, inspired by 

the culinary traditions of the Mediterranean in particular and the south of France in general, are accompanied 

by a delicious selection of French wines. Champagne is served to celebrate trophies brought back by hunters. 

Château de Laplanque is well known for its relaxed, family atmosphere. 

Hunters from abroad know very little about hunting in France. France Safaris is therefore delighted to welcome

Important game birds in Europe since the invention of firearms, grey partridge and pheasant are challenging 

game that request excellent shooting skills. Our clients will be offered the possibility to take part to driven grey 

partridges, Reeves’ pheasant, common pheasant and wild duck shoot. 

Being part of a big game driven hunt is probably one of the most exciting ways to hunt. Wild boars driven hunts 

are traditionally organised in France. Very sportive way to hunt since it requires fast decision-making and great

The red-legged partridge (Alectoris Rufa) is a Gallinaceous fowl endemic to Spain considered the most sporting 

and challenging bird in the world 

by hunters due to its beauty, audacity and fast and erratic flight. The driven partridge shoot is a shooting style 

with a long and deeply rooted tradition in Spain, which allows the hunter to enjoy the red-legged partridge in 

a far more challenging way, since the speed and height reached are unbeatable, putting more than one expert 

wing shooter to the test. 

Our shoots are some of the best and most famous in the country. Groups of 3 to 10 guns usually bag around 

1,000 birds per day or even double that amount depending on their shooting skills. Thanks to the wide range 

of estates we manage and their diverse and beautiful landscapes we are able to offer some of the most 

spectacular and challenging drives to be found in Spain. Featuring birds with fast and erratic flight, both 

low and high flying, we can offer drives that allow hunters to enjoy very varied and challenging shoots. A pair 

of 12 and 20 bore double-barrel matched shot guns is ideal for this type of shoot. We work closely with top gun 

manufacturers to offer you the best quality guns on-site, therefore avoiding the inconvenience of travelling

Le Domaine de l’Ortolo Corsica, France 

At the southern tip of Corsica, between the sea and the mountains, lies an immense estate in the heart of a 

valley carved by the Ortolo River. Its name is Murtoli, a secret destination whispered about by those in the 

know. This unique setting has a poetic air, with two thousand hectares of completely wild brush-covered 

terrain where flora and fauna have been left to thrive untouched. 

The Murtoli Estate offers many inviting coves and an endless white sand beach that stretches over a dozen 

kilometers along the Mediterranean Sea, a true paradise. 

An Exceptional Hunting Ground 

The Ortolo Estate offers an exceptional hunting ground boasting two thousand hectares of well-preserved 

ecosystem with a widely varying landscape featuring mountains, forests and brush interspersed with prairies 

and swampland. Some fields are farmed and sown with grain, providing welcome feed for wild game, and the 

olive groves are kept invitingly free of undergrowth. 

Here, visitors can hunt alone or accompanied by the game keeper Jean-Louis and his team. Although the 

estate provides dogs, shotguns and rifles, there is also a kennel to accommodate our canine guests. 

The Estate welcomes visitors for the hunting season, approximately six months of the year from September to 

the end of February. Wild boar is the big game here and is hunted in the traditional beating method, with a 

pack of hounds and beaters, or from a hide early in the season. 

Small game, like partridge, pheasant and hare live on the grounds, which are also a choice landing spot for 

migratory birds such as thrush, woodcock, doves and ducks, depending on the season. 

Fishing for the Most Avid Sportsman 

At the Murtoli Estate, fishermen can also pursue their passion, with fishing opportunities many sportsmen only 

dream of. In May and June, coastal net fishing is offered for tuna, such as amberjack, leerfish and “domti.” 

Those who prefer line fishing can catch sizable “pajots,” sargo bream and sand steenbras, which can be grilled 

for a tasty meal, or like “dentis” are used as bait for deeper sea fishing. On the coast, there are spear fishing or 

surf casting excursions for catching sea bream or sea bass. 

In August, September and October, join us for the big game fishing season, with Captain Henri and his 31-foot 

fully equipped fishing boat, for deep sea fishing allowed only at competition time and for deep sea net fishing 

to bring in the largest catches..

Unique in Europe, Sabournac is a private estate which has been organizing mallard duck hunting for 20 years 

in the tradition of the great English driven shoots. This hunt both surprises and appeals to hunters who like 

to shoot several hundred cartridges at high flying mallards. These birds fly at surprising heights, which means 

that only tightly choked guns are used. Sabournac offers only high quality, exclusive hunting organized and 

customized to meet your specific demands. The hunting estate is open from September 1 to January 31 and 

can be booked for a single party of 2 to 8 hunters. Gun loaders are available on request, as are two-day events.

Capercaillie The Capercaillie is one of the most beautiful trophies in Europe. We hunt them with a special breed of dog

New (pending) SCI #3 Asiatic Water Buffalo Mid 2012 repeat hunters Bill Morris and Larry Waide from 

Oregon had taken an excellent Buffalo each, but were keen to keep hunting. We decided to explore a far 

corner of a big concession, where Larry found a very old Buffalo with super heavy horns and wide spread, a 

fantastic trophy taken perfectly with his CZ 416RM. 

Later that afternoon we hunted along pools of water adjacent to the river, we had shot two wild pigs and I was 

heading back to get the Toyota. The hunters continued walking, and bumped into a monster Buffalo 300yards 

away… Bill wanted that bull. 

Andrea’ the assistant ran back to get me, “Biggest buffalo I have ever seen” he gasped. So I arrived on foot with 

pack and rifle. Bill pointed to some low paper bark tree scrub, “feeding over there, big horns, I will definitely 

take him” were his firm instructions to the guide.!! So without hesitation we approached down wind and 

keeping low. I glimpsed the animal and wanted to look... however Bill rushed me, “that’s him, lets go” and 

immediately he was forward and in the shooting sticks. As the Bull appeared through a gap at 50yards he fired 

twice with his Blaser R8 in 416RM and put it down. 

As we approached, I then realized why these guys were so keen, as every step closer it got bigger. What a truly 

amazing old Buffalo, this is bigger than anything I have dreamed of, a freak. Its body was bigger, taller, longer 

than normal, and its horns 83” spread tip to tip, huge 19” bases. The entire horns were so heavy that the last 

5 or 6 years they have grown downwards and the tips worn on the ground. I will never see a bigger Buffalo in 

the wild…!!!

Treetops Lodge and Wilderness Experience New Zealand 

The first fingers of fire light up the grey eastern sky. Over the 1,000 hectare expanse of the Treetops Estate, 

skeins of mist roll away with the approaching dawn. The moan of a rutting stag pierces the chill morning 

air. Silhouetted on a vantage point, you can see him, one of the magnificent trophy animals that draw sports 

enthusiasts to Treetops from around the globe. 

A little later the sun has warmed the air and the mist has cleared. As you set off, gun broken over your arm, 

you’ve scarcely walked for five minutes before the dogs suddenly point and the cover explodes as two monster 

pheasants leap into the air. 

Red deer and pheasant are only two of the many game species that flourish in New Zealand’s premier sports 

trophy reserve. Wapiti (elk),red, sika, sambar, rusa and fallow deer are all managed on the estate along with one 

of New Zealand’s finest herds of wild rams and wild boar. There is also a healthy population of duck, for whom 

no less than six wetlands, ranging in size from 0.6 to 2.5 hectares, have been created over the last fifteen years. 

Many guests who have achieved a prize red stag trophy swap their rifle for a trout rod and head for one of 

Treetops’ several ponds. Set amongst one of New Zealand’s finest rainbow and brown trout fishing regions, 

Treetops offers anglers fishing right in its own 1,000 hectares of private land. The clear, cold highly oxygenated 

waters of its spring fed streams nourish a population of rainbow, brook and brown trout. 

Treetops also offers anglers daily guided fishing ventures, whether it be by 4WD or helicopter into some of the 

country’s most beautiful native forest streams and lakes, for which the region is world renown. 

The highly successful development of Treetops as a premier sports destination has been based on a 

commitment to good game management, says owner John Sax. “We recognized early on that game 

management is effectively eco management, and that it necessitates the implementation of a conservation 

policy and a sustainable harvest regime. Good game management looks at what can be put back in to the 

environment. The never ending question is ‘how can we make this environment better for man and wildlife for

The lush look of the property is also the result of years of effort, including planting of over 70,000 trees. 

“One of the key factors affecting the sustainability of wild life is the timing, quality and quantity of the food 

supply” says Sax. “You can’t sustain a population if the total feed supply is only there for a couple of months a 

year.” Working in close co-operation with government and private agencies, the Estate was planted in a range 

of crops preferred by game species to provide continuous year round feed. Quick growing and maturing 

species like shadbash, chokeberries and catoniastas initially held the fort. After 15 years, longer term planting 

such as oaks, cherries and elders are now maturing.

Pockets of virgin native bush throughout the estate, including some spectacular stands of tawa trees, have 

been carefully preserved. Care has also been taken to retain cover and food sources favoured by protected 

native species such as the kereru (native pigeon) and fern bird. Undesirables like possums, ferrets, rats, cats 

and rabbits are kept out of the estate by an ongoing trapping and hunting programme carried out by the 

Estate staff. 

Inside the estate, deer are eco managed by offering them crops like red clover and swedes, which they much 

prefer to native forest vegetation. Wild pigs are controlled using a similar strategy. And yes, wild venison and 

pork appear regularly on the Treetops menu. 

The temperate climate of northern New Zealand has also helped Treetops produce some of the finest trophies 

in the world, says John Sax. “the lush vegetation growth found at Treetops is one of the key factors in the growth 

of many of our large stags. The habitat at Treetops is arguably New Zealand’s finest and has also ensured that it 

has one of the highest deer densities of any reserve in New Zealand and thus a wide range of animals to choose 

from. Treetops has the enviable record of having achieved a 100% success rate to date in successfully guiding 

clients to a trophy stag of their choosing”.

our clients are seeking a good representative quality stag which is typically 20+ points and approximately 40

The Laurentian Mountains are the site of the most prestigious Trophy Elk and Red Deer hunting venue in 

the world. This is home to both the World Record Bull Elk and Red Stag. The terrain at Laurentian Estate is 

comprised of colorful hardwoods, large granite boulders, small sunlight meadows and multiple creeks feeding 

into several freshwater ponds and lakes. The Lodge is centered within this wondrous forested locale. 

Laurentian Wildlife Estate has established an international reputation for giant trophy Manitobian and Rocky 

Mountain Elk. Here in the pristine mountain preserve in Quebec, Canada many of these trophy bulls score 

high in the SCI record books. The mountain preserve has been managed by our full time wildlife biologist to 

produce unique typical and non-typical trophy animals. Many bulls will score in the mid 400’s with a potential 

of a world class 500+ bull elk emerging from the thick timber forest. 

Our huntsman are true professionals, each with years of experience in various hunting venues, with a variety of 

game. They are proficient hunters able to spot n’ stalk, field judge and assist in all manners of the hunt. Additionally, 

these outdoorsman are gentleman. As our guests spend so much time afield with their guide, it’s important to us 

that our staff are as well-mannered as well-trained. 

Over the years, Laurentian Wildlife Estate has become known as a “sportsman’s paradise”. It has also become known 

as a “bow hunter’s paradise”. Hunting begins in mid August and runs through December. Hunts book up quickly,

Spring and Fall Hunts on Vancouver Island: Spot-and-stalk hunts for Black Bear and Roosevelt Elk 

Our 7800 square kilometer exclusive hunting territory is located along the rugged west coast of Vancouver 

Island. The area has over 50 grizzly-free salmon river valleys where the Black Bear feed in the Fall. The Black 

Bear hunting here is unsurpassed due to superior genetics and the densest populations of Black Bear per 

square kilometer of anywhere in North America. There are no other locations that have better success rates, 

sizes or ages of bears harvested. 

Vancouver Island is also well-known as the premier destination for pure Roosevelt Elk. We consistently 

produce record book bulls. 

We also offer Coastal Wolf as an add-on animal for a trophy fee on early Spring Black bear hunts, as well as 

Sitka Deer on the Fall hunts. 

A second Black Bear may be taken on a trophy fee basis. 

We limit the number of hunters we book to ensure that every hunter has the best possible hunting 

experience. On the Spring Black Bear hunts we prefer to book just two hunters per hunt date who will take 

two bears each, but we will take a maximum of four hunters per hunt date if requested. In the Fall we only 

take one or two hunters per hunt date. Roosevelt Elk hunts are limited to two hunters per season. 

We use a combination of custom-designed boats and quads to access the many beaches and logging roads 

within our guide territory. Camp accommodations may be provided in either our live-aboard boat or a rustic 

log cabin lodge, or some combination of both, depending on where we are hunting. 

It is this combination of excellent equipment, comfortable camps, superior animals and professional services 

that enables us to maximize our hunters’ opportunities while providing a true wilderness hunting experience. 

Seasons: 5 day 1:1 hunts for Spring Black Bear, Coastal Wolf - April 1- May 20 

10 day 1:1 hunts for Roosevelt Elk, Sitka Deer - October 10 - 20 

5 day 1:1 hunts for Fall Black Bear, Sitka Deer - October 21- November 5 

To Get Here: Clients fly into Vancouver International the day before the hunt starts and then take a 30 minute 

commuter flight over to Comox Airport on Vancouver Island. We pick clients up at Comox Airport and 

take them to a hotel for the night. The next morning we drive them to the hunting area on the west coast of 

the Island to begin the hunt. Alternatively, clients may choose to rent a vehicle at Vancouver International 

and take the ferry service across to Vancouver Island.

LES COLVERTS DE SABOURNAC – France 

Unique in Europe, Sabournac is a private hunting estate that has been organizing mallard shoots over the 

last twenty years or so on the principles of the large “English style battues”. This type of hunting surprises 

and appeals to hunters, who like firing a few hundred cartridges on high-flying mallards. The birds fly over 

surprisingly high, which forces top-shooters to equip themselves with full-choke guns. The estate is open 

from September 1st to January 31st and may be reserved by a single group of 4 to 12 guns. 

CAMPEMENT DE L’ELÉPHANT – Burkina-Faso 

Hunting francolin and guinea-fowl at random is the speciality of the Elephant Camp together with pass 

shooting turtle-dove and sand-grouse at waterholes especially equipped for the purpose. The season goes 

from December through to March. Hunters will find a comfortable camp (air-conditioning and swimming 

pool) and all the unfamiliar sights and sounds of the African bush. 

CORTIJO SOTO REAL – Spain 

A unique sporting challenge awaits you at Soto Real. An authentic five-star hunting lodge set among the 

palm trees, bougainvillea, and orange trees of a working estate in the rolling hills of Andalusia. Driven redlegged 

partridges are hunted from October until March and walked-up quail from July to September. 

You can truly expect a challenge above and beyond the usual at Soto Real. 

EagleMP – Argentina 

The EagleMP camp is a reference in duck-shooting in San Javier, located in the province of Santa Fé, which 

is considered to be one of the most reputed regions in the world for duck-shooting. EagleMP has been 

managed by Frenchmen for the last 20 years. The season goes from February throught to July with a 

change in biotopes: from paddy fields to marshes passing by the Parana islands. Turtledoves can also be 

hunted with over 1,000 cartridges fired per day. 

GREAT SPANISH HUNT – Madrid, Spain 

Only 45 minutes from Madrid, outstanding red legged partridge shooting in Spain is at its very best on the 

La Fnca and Fuensauco estates, run by Javier Corsini who is one of the most respected shoot owners in 

Spain with his 30 years of experience. His professionalism, his rigour and his expertise are a guarantee that 

you will have a magnificent stay with a booty of between 500 and 2,000 birds, depending on the size of the 

party. Surrounded by an estate of 3,000 hectares, a luxury hunting lodge is ready to welcome you, with its 

gastronomic creations and top-quality Spanish wines that will really make your stay unforgettable. 

KOULOUDIA – Lake Tchad, Tchad 

The new KOULOUDIA air-conditioned camp, 3 hours away from N’Djamena offers exceptional hunting 

for teal, pintail, shovelers and African duck coming from Europe for the winter. The season goes from 

November through to March in the Lake Chad overflow areas, which are cultivated by villagers and 

where duck come and eat. 

PUELO EXPEDITION - Cordoba, Argentina 

Cordoba is considered the dove shooting capital of the world. Over 50 million doves annually inhabit 

the 60-mile radius (95 km) around Puelo Expedition’s lodge. Doves offer fast and challenging shooting 

with a high number of cartridge shot in one day, from 1000 to 3000 cartridges a day, sometimes even 

more. Puelo Expedition runs 2 different lodges with the high quality standard to offer the best service to 

hunters. Puelo Expedition runs a lodge in the Buenos Aires province for those who want to combine dove 

hunting with duck hunting. 

TAMASI - Gyulaj, Hongria 

Gyulaj is a territory belonging to the Hungarian water and forestry authorities, which offers exclusive big 

wild boar battues in open or closed territory. The size of the estates (900 ha and more) maintains the 

quality of the hunt and offers everyone the possibility of taking a large number of young boar or big tusked 

males. A guard accompanies every person at his post during the 3 or 4 beats of the day, which can be 

organized over a whole weekend. A torchlight presentation of the bag is made to the best Hungarian traditions 

at the end of the day’s shoot, before returning to the very comfortable hunting lodge.
