Rain Garden: Maintenance Issues
• Repair planting soil bed if erosion occurs.
• Core aerate or cultivate unvegetated areas
annually if surface becomes clogged with fine
sediments.
• Apply mulch twice per year until groundcover
establishes.
• Replace dead or diseased plant material.
• Inspect/remove any sediment
buildup/trash/leaves at inflow and outflow
devices on monthly basis.
• Do NOT fertilize – unless you do a soil test!
