This is a chance for all to come together <strong>and</strong> celebrate kids <strong>and</strong> families. Kids can<br />
have fun with arts <strong>and</strong> crafts, balloons, face painting, clowns, <strong>and</strong> cartoon characters<br />
throughout the day. <strong>Lorain</strong> <strong>County</strong> agencies will be on h<strong>and</strong> to answer questions<br />
<strong>and</strong> pass along information regarding their programs for families <strong>and</strong> children.<br />

Kidz First <strong>Child</strong>ren’s Advocacy Center is providing free Stewards of <strong>Child</strong>ren<br />
presentations throughout the month of April! Stewards of <strong>Child</strong>ren is a<br />
comprehensive sexual abuse prevention training program that educates adults to<br />
prevent, recognize, <strong>and</strong> react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The Stewards of<br />
<strong>Child</strong>ren program is designed for organizations that serve children <strong>and</strong> adolescents<br />
providing prevention training for staff, volunteers, parents, <strong>and</strong> other interested<br />

Kidz First <strong>Child</strong>ren’s Advocacy Center, a program of the Nord Center, is proud to bring The<br />
Clothesline Project to <strong>Lorain</strong> <strong>County</strong>. The T‐shirts exhibited were created by survivors of<br />
sexual abuse/assault <strong>and</strong> their families in <strong>Lorain</strong> <strong>County</strong>. Many of the T‐shirts are from<br />
survivors who have worked with our sister program <strong>Lorain</strong> <strong>County</strong> Rape Crisis. Each t‐shirt<br />
tells a story of abuse, violence, <strong>and</strong> in many cases, hope! The exhibit includes more than<br />
100 shirts. During April this traveling display will be at several locations in <strong>Lorain</strong> <strong>County</strong>.<br />

Maggie Billings is a Bachelor of Arts Individualized Degree C<strong>and</strong>idate (May 2011) <strong>and</strong> research<br />
assistant at The University of Toledo <strong>and</strong> is working with research that addresses human trafficking in<br />
Lucas <strong>County</strong>. Current grant is to identify the movement of sex trafficking <strong>and</strong> prostitution in Ohio<br />
through crime mapping. She serves on the Dem<strong>and</strong> Sub-Committee representing Northwest Ohio<br />
<strong>and</strong> is the Diversion Program Coordinator for the Lucas <strong>County</strong> Human Trafficking Coalition<br />
(LCHTC), Toledo, Ohio.<br />
Kelli Grace<br />
Kelli Grace has worked for the citizens of Ohio for 24 years. In the Crime Victims Assistance <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>Prevention</strong> Section., Ms. Grace worked 5 years as an Investigator <strong>and</strong> 1 year as a Lead Investigator<br />
prior to becoming the Public Information Manager. Ms. Grace works closely with the victims <strong>and</strong><br />
family members of violent crime. She provides information concerning services available to victims<br />
both within the Attorney <strong>General</strong>’s Office <strong>and</strong> with our outside partners.<br />
Mona Hassan, MSN, PhD C<strong>and</strong>idate<br />
Mona Hassan graduated from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt with her Master’s in Nursing <strong>and</strong> is<br />
currently a PhD c<strong>and</strong>idate in Nursing at Case Western Reserve University, Clevel<strong>and</strong>, Ohio. She is<br />
currently working on her dissertation: Patterns of sexual abuse among children who received care in<br />
an emergency department. Although currently on sabbatical, she has the position of Assistant<br />
Lecturer for the Pediatric Nursing Department, at Cairo University, Cairo Egypt.<br />
Gail Horner, RNC, MS, PNP<br />
Gail Horner graduated from Wright State University with her Master’s of Science in Nursing <strong>and</strong><br />
received her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certificate from The Ohio State University. She is<br />
currently the Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Coordinator at Nationwide<br />
<strong>Child</strong>ren’s Hospital’s Center for <strong>Child</strong> <strong>and</strong> Family Advocacy in Columbus, Ohio. She performs<br />
physical exams for suspected victims of child sexual <strong>and</strong> physical abuse <strong>and</strong> coordinates the SANE<br />
program within the emergency department.<br />
Mary Jay, MA,<br />
Mary Jay received her Master of Arts from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan <strong>and</strong><br />
majored in Sociology. Mary Jay is a Disease Intervention Specialist with the Toledo-Lucas <strong>County</strong><br />
Health Department. As Chair of the Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition at the Lucas <strong>County</strong> Health<br />
Department, she establishes, implements, presents on <strong>and</strong> oversees anti-human trafficking policies<br />
<strong>and</strong> procedures for Lucas <strong>County</strong>, Ohio.<br />
Linda Lewin, PhD, PMHCNS-BC<br />
Dr. Lewin earned a Doctorate in Philosophy in Educational Psychology from the University of<br />
Toledo. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing from Ohio<br />
State University. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capital University. Dr<br />
Lewin is a certified <strong>Child</strong>/Adolescent Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist from American Nurses<br />
Credentialing Center. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University<br />
<strong>and</strong> is the immediate Past Board President of the Ohio Professional Society on the <strong>Abuse</strong> of <strong>Child</strong>ren.<br />
Erna Olafson, PhD, PsyD<br />
Dr. Olafson received her Doctorate in History (Second Field: Social Anthropology) from the<br />
University of California at Berkeley, California <strong>and</strong> her Doctorate in Psychology from the California<br />
Graduate School of Family Psychology (Merged in 1998 with the American School of Professional<br />
Psychology, which became Argosy University in 2001). She is currently an Associate Professor of<br />
Clinical Psychiatry <strong>and</strong> Pediatrics at <strong>Child</strong>ren’s Hospital Medical Center <strong>and</strong> University of Cincinnati<br />
College of Medicine. She is also Co-chair of the Judicial Education Working Group of the National<br />
<strong>Child</strong> Traumatic Stress Network.<br />
Emily Pelphrey, JD, Assistant Attorney <strong>General</strong>, Sex Crimes Unit<br />
Emily Pelphrey received her law degree from Suffolk University Law School, Boston, Massachusetts.<br />
She currently works for The Ohio Attorney <strong>General</strong>’s Office as Assistant Attorney <strong>General</strong> for the<br />
Special Prosecutions Unit, as Sex Crimes Unit Coordinator. She is a founding member of the Statewide<br />
Ohio Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) <strong>and</strong> a member of the Ohio Trafficking in Persons<br />
Study Commission.<br />

her Master’s in Social Work from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. She is currently the<br />
Project Coordinator of the Substance <strong>Abuse</strong> <strong>and</strong> Mental Health Services Administration<br />
(SAMHSA) grant as well as one of the Emergency Department Social Workers for the Center for<br />
<strong>Child</strong> <strong>and</strong> Family Advocacy at Nationwide <strong>Child</strong>ren’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.<br />
Shari Uncapher, MSW, LISW-S<br />
Shari Uncapher received her Bachelor’s Degree of Social Work from Youngstown University <strong>and</strong> her<br />
Masters of Social Work from The Ohio State University, Columbus Ohio. She is the Program<br />
Manager for the Center for <strong>Child</strong> <strong>and</strong> Family Advocacy <strong>and</strong> the Department of Behavioral Health<br />
Services at Nationwide <strong>Child</strong>ren’s Hospital in Columbus Ohio.<br />
Stacy Violi, MS<br />
Stacy Violi received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Heidelberg College <strong>and</strong> her Master’s of<br />
Science in Molecular <strong>and</strong> Physiology from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Ohio. She is<br />
currently a Forensic Scientist, in DNA analysis, for the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification<br />
<strong>and</strong> Investigation.
