Dear <strong>Camp</strong>ers,<br />

We would like to welcome you to <strong>Camp</strong> VBS 2013!<br />

We are pleased to offer a variety of day camps for children of all ages. Our camps include <strong>Camp</strong> Shelanu for pre-schoolers<br />

2 1/2 -5 years, <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Kef</strong> for kids entering grades K-6, a CIT Leadership & Social Action Program for youth entering grades<br />

7-9, and Junior Counselor opportunities for teens entering grades 10-12. Join us and experience fun-filled activities,<br />

friendships, and community. This will be a summer to remember.<br />

Enclosed please find information about each camp along with a registration form. Be sure to register and pay your fees<br />

before Monday, April 15th to take advantage of our Early Bird pricing.<br />

Welcome to a fun-filled summer at <strong>Camp</strong> Shelanu! Our camp is an exciting, enriching<br />

experience, designed for preschoolers. All our activities are created exclusively for<br />

2 1/2 -5 year old campers in a safe, supervised atmosphere. <strong>Camp</strong> Shelanu is staffed with<br />

credentialed Early Childhood professionals.<br />

CAMP ACTIVITIES<br />

• Art Studio - A hands-on oriented art experience promoting individual creativity<br />

• Shira (Music) - <strong>Camp</strong> wide sing-a-long filled with fun, laughter and Ruach!! (spirit)<br />

• Sports - <strong>Camp</strong>ers will participate in daily sports activities<br />

• Water Play - Splashing, refreshing fun all day long<br />

• Gymnastics/Yoga - A professional gymnast engages campers in energetic body movement<br />

• Weekly Thematic Activities - Community specialists will be brought in to enrich the camp experience<br />

9:00 AM - 3:00 PM $70 per day $75 per day<br />

3:00 PM- 5:00 PM $10 per hour<br />

All campers must bring a<br />

dairy sack lunch each day.<br />

All fees must be paid in full by<br />

<strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Kef</strong> <strong>Grades</strong> K-6<br />

<strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Kef</strong>, which means “fun” in Hebrew, is a variety Day <strong>Camp</strong> that will provide an array of activities and experiences<br />

led by our dynamic counselors. From an on-site swimming pool, rock climbing walls, slippery slides to storytellers and<br />

performers, each week there will be a variety of special activities at <strong>Camp</strong> VBS, including a Super Shabbat Celebration.<br />

Activities include:<br />

• Swimming in our on-site pool • Cooking • Arts and Crafts<br />

• Sports in our gym and grassy field • Music • Maccabiah Games/Color War<br />

• Weekly Field Trips (Thursdays)<br />

• Special Programs and guests<br />

On-Site Swimming Pool • Indoor Gym • FIELD - <strong>Grades</strong> K--6<br />

Group lessons and free swim during camp hours! <strong>Camp</strong>ers will swim in our full size pool, supervised by certified WSI<br />

lifeguards and instructors. <strong>Camp</strong>ers will also enjoy a summer of fun playing basketball, volleyball, and sports galore in<br />

our indoor sports facility, The Shalom Dome and an outdoor field.<br />

CIT Leadership and Social Action Program - <strong>Grades</strong> 7--9 )<br />

The <strong>Camp</strong> VBS CIT Leadership program is designed to foster leadership for youth entering grades 7-9. Counselors-in-<br />

Training will participate in leadership training and gain hands-on experience assisting <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Kef</strong> campers. As a part of the<br />

leadership training, CIT’s will actively participate in a weekly social action project. CIT’s will leave camp once a week to<br />

volunteer at various organizations around the greater Los Angeles Area and will help implement social action programs for<br />

the campers. CIT’s will help run our weekly Maccabiah/Color War games every Friday. CIT’s will also receive community<br />

service hours. CIT applications must be received by May 6, 2013. The fee for participating in the CIT program is $200/<br />

week. CIT applications are available to download at www.vbsds.org/campvbs. All applicants will be contacted for an<br />

Junior Counselors<br />

Junior Counselor opportunities are available for students entering grades 10-12. Junior Counselors will receive<br />

community service credit and as well as a stipend. To apply for a Junior Counselor position, please contact Rabbi Avi<br />

(ataff@vbsds.org) by April 19, 2013.<br />

<strong>Camp</strong> VBS Early Bird and Refund Policies:<br />

All fees must be paid in full by April 15, 2013, in order to receive early bird pricing.<br />

No refunds will be issued after June 17, 2013.
