Transfer <strong>Center</strong><br />

The Transfer <strong>Center</strong> offers a wide range of activities to assist<br />

students in transferring successfully to the four-year college<br />

or university of choice. Services offered include: advisement,<br />

visits by representatives from four-year colleges and universities,<br />

university tours, and workshops <strong>on</strong> major steps in the<br />

transfer process.<br />

Career & Technical Educati<strong>on</strong> (CTE)<br />

CTE prepares students for employment (Entry Pathway) or<br />

for future educati<strong>on</strong> (Skilled and Professi<strong>on</strong>al Pathways) in<br />

a career major or c<strong>on</strong>centrati<strong>on</strong>. Our 15 CTE programs are<br />

occupati<strong>on</strong>ally specific and technical in nature. CTE students<br />

may earn vocati<strong>on</strong>al or occupati<strong>on</strong>al A.A. or A.S. degrees, as<br />

well as certificates.<br />

First Year Experience (FYE)<br />

The First Year Experience Learning Community Program is<br />

designed to help students be successful in their first year of<br />

college by providing a supportive, caring envir<strong>on</strong>ment of educati<strong>on</strong>al<br />

guidance and career services. FYE students are focused<br />

<strong>on</strong> academics, career planning and study skills, with a<br />

goal of transferring to a four-year university.<br />

Extended Opportunity Programs<br />

& Services (EOP&S)<br />

EOP&S is designed to assist low-income and educati<strong>on</strong>ally disadvantaged<br />

students achieve their educati<strong>on</strong>al goals. Students<br />

receive support services in the areas of counseling, peer support,<br />

financial assistance, transferring and tutorial services.<br />

Academics<br />

ECC Compt<strong>on</strong> <strong>Center</strong> is growing, adding more classes each<br />

semester. Students will get classes they need through our<br />

six academic divisi<strong>on</strong>s, each offering a full complement of<br />

transfer and degree courses, as well as career and technical<br />

educati<strong>on</strong>. Academic and career programs include nursing,<br />

business, teaching, fire and emergency technology, music,<br />

and more. Graduate with an associate degree, transfer to a<br />

four-year college or university, earn a certificate, or train for a<br />

career.<br />

Tutoring<br />

Need help with homework? Tutoring is available! The Learning<br />

Resource <strong>Center</strong> (LRC) Tutorial Program offers free drop-in<br />

tutoring covering more than 40 subjects. Other services include<br />

an open computer lab with Internet access, telecourses,<br />

math videotapes for overnight check-out, study skills seminars,<br />

computer-assisted instructi<strong>on</strong> and independent study.<br />

Work Study/Campus Jobs<br />

Under the Federal Work Study program, students may earn<br />

$8.00 per hour, or more depending up<strong>on</strong> job assignment. Students<br />

work up to 20 hours per week while school is in sessi<strong>on</strong><br />

and up to 40 hours per week during break periods. Funding<br />

is based <strong>on</strong> financial need and available funds. Inquire about<br />

Student Worker opportunities at the Welcome <strong>Center</strong>.<br />

Campus Life<br />

All students are encouraged to participate in campus activities,<br />

social events, student government, an array of clubs to match<br />

varied interests, and other extra-curricular opportunities. The<br />

Office of Student Life is the focal point for these activities. The<br />

<strong>El</strong> <strong>Camino</strong> <strong>College</strong> Compt<strong>on</strong> <strong>Center</strong> Student Council includes<br />

11 officers elected each year by the Associated Student Body<br />

(ASB).<br />
