3. Remember that it is vital to understand about <strong>the</strong> importance of not reproducing or<br />
copying <strong>the</strong> designs of o<strong>the</strong>r artists. Ra<strong>the</strong>r, just use <strong>the</strong>m as a guide to develop <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
own techniques and <strong>the</strong>ir own combinations of cross-hatching, X-ray and dots styles.<br />
4. Obtain a piece of A3 art paper.<br />
5. Draw a pencil outline of a goanna on A3 art paper. Use <strong>the</strong> image below to help you.
6. Draw pencil lines inside <strong>the</strong> outline as shown below. Then choose two different colours<br />
and colour <strong>the</strong>se on <strong>the</strong> goanna as a background for your designs. If using paint, wait<br />
until <strong>the</strong> paint is dry before going on to <strong>the</strong> next step.<br />
7. Using <strong>the</strong> X-ray technique, paint / draw some of <strong>the</strong> bones and internal organs on <strong>the</strong><br />
goanna.<br />
8. Now use <strong>the</strong> dot technique to design your own patterns with colourful dots. Use earth<br />
tones (brown, red, black, yellow, orange etc)
9. Now use a pencil to draw different types of lines and <strong>the</strong> cross-hatching technique to<br />
add your own designs. You could be inspired by <strong>the</strong> Aboriginal artwork in part 2 to<br />
assist. When <strong>the</strong> paint is dry, go over all <strong>the</strong> pencil lines using a black felt tip pen.<br />
10. Sign off your name below your artwork and find somewhere to display it.
