welcome to sun valley & the wellness festival
festival information
I am so excited to welcome past and
new participants to the 17 th annual
Sun Valley Wellness Festival. Every year
the Sun Valley Wellness Festival brings
in exceptional speakers in the fields of
Mind-Body-Spirit and Environmental
wellness to share their incredible knowledge
and provide all of us opportunities
to learn and grow. I promise this year’s
Festival will do all that and more.
Our theme this year centers on the
idea to “Find your Way”. I like to think that all of us are on a journey to find our individual
way to fulfilling our dreams. Each year I find I work on a different area that I can improve
for my own wellbeing. I believe everything we learn helps us become the phenomenal human
beings that we are.
This year’s Festival Keynote speakers will definitely inspire all of us to live in the moment
and every moment to its greatest potential. On Friday night, Diana Nyad will share her
remarkable story of how she finally achieved her world record-breaking swim from Cuba to
Florida at age 64! She lives her life large while chasing and accomplishing her dreams. On
Sunday night, wellness activist and cancer ‘thriver’ Kris Carr will share her experiences of
living life to its fullest even with Stage 4 cancer. WOW!!
Our speaker line up over the five days of our Festival will be sure to ignite all of your
senses. Panache Desai will warm your spirit with his overwhelming compassion and choosing
to see everything through the eyes of love. Arielle Ford will help all of us find love,
using her Wabi Sabi formula. The dynamic Eric Saperston will insist that we all find love
in ourselves, as he says, “Be yourself, everyone is taken”. Back by popular demand is Dr.
James Rouse, who will teach us that by taking care of ourselves with healthy eating choices
we can be fulfilled and have optimum health. The incredible Tommy Rosen will join us
again to remind us of the power we have to live loving and productive lives through Yoga,
meditation, and moving beyond addiction. THESE are only a few of our FABULOUS
speakers!!! WOW AGAIN!!!
I want to give a big heartfelt THANK YOU to my incredible past and current Sun Valley
Wellness Institute Board members. I love you all and appreciate every moment of working
with you! Their hard work is what makes the Festival, and everything else we do, so successful.
Our non-profit organization has added new programs and initiatives to increase and
promote health & wellness in our community throughout the year, and we have very exciting
plans for our future!
Imagine the biggest hug, smile, and THANK YOU, and that is what I want to send to
all of the participants, donors, sponsors, speakers, vendors and supporters of the 17 th annual
Sun Valley Wellness Festival. Without you there would be no Festival. Your support, ideas,
and questions help us give you a better Festival each year. Please let me or any of our Board
members know how we are doing. We love the feedback!
In parting, I send you with what I tell myself every year. Stay in the moment, feel the joy,
learn, take it all in, send everyone love, and most of all, HAVE FUN!
Sun Valley Opera House, 3:00 - 4:40
Join the Spirituality & Health movement
This newly released PBS documentary film features footage from
last year’s Sun Valley Wellness Festival. It brings together great minds
of medicine and science, along with rich, human-interest stories.
We will listen to the wisdom of 100-year old centenarians,
travel to small villages of Okinawa, journey with women into the
doctor’s office, face cancer, and better understand heart disease and
other ailments. Learn the power of a nurturing mother and the value of lifelong relationships that women share with each other.
This film will help women gain new insight into their own personal journey of aging. Also this will be a documentary every man will need
to see to better understand the women in their lives. This film is part of a 13 part series for PBS created and produced by ten-time Michigan
Emmy winner Keith Famie of Visionalist Entertainment who will answer questions after the screening. To learn more about the film you
can review a trailer at http://embraceofaging.com/Women/trailer.html. Read reviews on Facebook: www.facebook.com/EmbraceOfAging
Corral Creek Campsite #5, 5:15 - 6:15 • There is no charge to attend this ceremony.
Step outside of time as we come together in sacred circle around the fire to shed,
share, and set intentions. This ceremony is based on the Peruvian shamanic medicine
tradition to help bring healing and rapid transformation both individually and collectively.
We will honor and release the things that no longer serve our path and create
an opening to manifest our dreams and highest visions. We will renew and be reborn,
joining in group prayer for ourselves, our families, friends, community, and Mother
Earth. Please bring your drums, rattles, shakers, etc. and join in the celebration!
SPECIAL FEATURE FILM PRESENTATION: Bridgewalkers
Sun Valley Opera House, 7:30 - 9:00 • Tickets are available at the door only.
As our relationship to Earth travels down a dangerous path, it has become clear that we cannot sustain the stress of our modern ways. On a
quest to restore balance, Tribal Leaders from around the world gather in Greenland to witness the awakening of a 20,000 year old Prophecy.
From Greenland thru Canada and the Americas, Spiritual Leaders share the wisdom, prophecies and ceremonies of their ancestors. In an
unprecedented gathering, they remember the wounds of the past and embrace the spirit that has endured. Together they reveal a message
that can give hope to the next seven generations. Walk with them and discover ancient knowledge long forgotten. Listen to the wisdom of
their ancestors. Feel their connection to Mother Earth. Stand with these extraordinary “BridgeWalkers” around the Sacred Fire as they bridge
the mind to the heart, the heart to the land, and the land to the one human family! View the movie trailer at www.oneriverproductions.org
Friday, May 23rd, 6:00 - 7:30
Limelight Room
On September 2, 2013, in her fifth and final attempt, Diana
Nyad successfully fulfilled her life-long dream of completing
the 110-mile swim from Cuba to Florida. Upon completing
her grueling 53 hour journey, a breathless Nyad told the world,
“I have three messages. One is we should never ever give up.
Two is you are never too old to chase your dreams. And three
is it looks like a solitary sport but it takes a team.”
Nyad has never been one to quit. In July of 2010, at the
age of 60, she began her “Xtreme Dream” quest of swimming
from Cuba to Florida, a task she had failed to finish thirty
years previously. When asked her motivation, she replied,
“Because I’d like to prove to the other 60-year-olds that it is
never too late to start your dreams.” Nyad was unsuccessful
in her quest in 2010 and tried two more times 2011 and
2012 before completing this year’s historic swim.
Back in the 1970’s, Nyad was the greatest long-distance
swimmer in the world. Her world records, such as circling Manhattan
Island and crossing the 102.5 miles between the Bahamas
and Florida, have led to inductions to many Halls of Fame,
such as the International Women’s Sports Hall of Fame.
Nyad became a prominent sports broadcaster, filing compelling
reports for NPR, ABC’s Wide World of Sports, Fox
Sports, and the New York Times. She has written three books
and has earned a reputation as a uniquely passionate and entertaining
public speaker, earning standing ovations with a
broad spectrum of audiences.
“Isn’t life about determining your own finish line? This
journey has always been about reaching your own other shore,
no matter what it is.” –Diana Nyad, September 2011
Douglas Granger, PhD
Presentation: Harnessing Biobehavioral Science to Optimize Health, Saturday, 11:15 - 12:30,
Limelight A (see page 32)
Douglas A. Granger, PhD, is a psychoneuroendocrinology researcher well known for development of methods
related to saliva collection, analysis, and the theoretical integration of salivary measures into developmental,
behavioral, social, and health sciences. His studies have been instrumental in the conceptualization of biosocial
relationships involving child well-being, parent-child and family relationships, as well as how these biosocial links moderate and mediate
the effects of early adversity on children’s adjustment. Dr. Granger is a pioneer in the field of “salivary bioscience”. He is a leading expert
engaged in work focused on the discovery, measurement, and application of analytes (hormones, antibodies, enzymes, neurotrophins, environment
chemicals) in oral fluids. He has published more than 170 studies. Dr. Granger has an eclectic training history. He earned his
PhD at UC Irvine in 1990 in Psychology and Social Behavior, and then completed 4 years of post-doctoral training in Psychoneuroimmunology
at UCLA. Early in his academic career (1994) he founded and directed the Behavioral Endocrinology Laboratory at Penn State
University. In 2010, at Johns Hopkins University, he created The Center for Interdisciplinary Salivary Bioscience Research. In 2013, he
was invite to assume the position of Foundation Professor of Psychology and the inaugural director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary
Salivary Bioscience Research at Arizona State University. Dr. Granger holds adjunct faculty appointments at the Johns Hopkins School
of Nursing and Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Dr. Granger is also a scholar-entrepreneur. Technology transferred from his labs at
Penn State and Johns Hopkins created Salimetrics LLC and SalivaBio LLC. His studies have explored linkages between biology, behavior,
and context in infants, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly; in normative, high risk and clinical samples; in athletes; in complex
chaotic environments (refugee camps, combat rescue); in social networks; as well as in pets and social mammals in zoos.
Dallas Reid Hall
workshop: True Love is Not for Cowards, Friday, 9:30 - 12:30, Aspen Room, Cost: $40 (see page 42)
Dallas Reid Hall is a man who has been involved in the Human Potential Movement for 46 years. He started
in 1968 in Palo Alto, California which was one of the major centers of the movement.
Through all of Dallas’ personal and professional challenges, he has maintained an incredible passion for wanting
to know who his authentic self is. Dallas has spent time with many of our gifted teachers including J. Krishnamurti,
Sam Keen, Robert Bly, Deepak Chopra and Gabrielle Roth, but it is his relentless search to understand the human condition that has brought
him to who he is today. Dallas maintains that, “You can read every book or listen to every teacher but until you have the courage to directly
engage your true self you won’t discover who you are and how you can truly discover what this existence has to offer you.”
Tyrone Hayes, PhD
Presentation: GMO and Herbicides: The Assault on our Food, the Environment and our Health,
Saturday, 3:45 - 5:00, Limelight A (see page 28)
Dr. Hayes was born in Columbia, South Carolina where he spent his youth exploring the flora and fauna which
abounded there. He was particularly fascinated by amphibians and the environmental influences upon them.
After graduating from Harvard in 1989 he entered the Dept. of Integrative Biology at the Univ. of California,
Berkeley where he obtained his PhD. and later completed his post-doctoral studies on molecular mechanisms of hormone action in amphibians.
In 1994, he joined the faculty at UC Berkeley as an Assistant Prof. and soon after an Associate Professor. His studies became
focused on synthetic chemicals, which led him to studies of atrazine, a potent herbicide which he found was an endocrine disrupter
affecting reproductive organs. His alarming findings were not appreciated by the agri-chemical giant, Syngenta which had been funding
his research. Never the less, he continued his work on atrazine thru numerous fellowships and grants. He was not left at peace, however.
Embroiled in lawsuits, stalked and repeatedly threatened for continuing his work, Dr. Hayes persevered in his studies and lectures
throughout the world to shed light on the dangers of synthetic chemicals threatening our water, food supply and environment. Dr. Hayes
has published dozens of peer-reviewed papers and his work is featured in many books and documentaries.
To understand Dr. Hayes’ determination to continue his work you only need to read his own words;
“My decision to stand up and face the industry giant was not a heroic one. My parents taught me, “Do not do the right thing because you
seek reward…and do not avoid the wrong thing because you fear punishment. Do the right thing, because it is the right thing.” If I want to raise
my own children with the same philosophy, then I have to live my life in accordance with the way that I direct theirs. There was only one choice.”
uma mulnick
workshop: Transformation Through Creativity: Meeting the Muse, Friday, 9:30 - 12:30,
Continental Room, Cost: $60 (see page 41)
Uma’s life is as a healer and her soul yearns for joy—to feel it, to express it, to share it and to BE it. She
imagines a world filled with love and peace, and that all people are one. Sharing the healing energy of Transformational
Creativity is her contribution to making that a reality. We can create whatever we want in our
lives. Uma chooses to create JOY!
Uma painted, quilted, drew, “threw” pots (pottery), made stained glass art, and in her early 20s she became more aware of her spiritual
side. She started exploring meditation, learned to do yoga, and became much more knowledgeable about nutritional factors and health.
She traveled to India to continue her studies there, and upon returning to the states, she became a co-owner of the Institute of Yogic
Culture in Southern California. She spent the next few years teaching yoga, meditation, vegetarian cooking and massage classes. In 1979
she earned her chiropractic degree (D.C.) at Western States Chiropractic College, and later added an acupuncture certification to it. She
has been co-owner of Back Country Chiropractic and Wellness Center in McCall, Idaho for the past 20+ years and is now the owner of
Dr. Uma’s Healing and Creative Arts Center. For most of her life she has felt the calling to help people improve the quality of their lives,
and she has fulfilled that mission as a healer.
In 2009, Uma walked into a Chopra Center retreat and saw the mandala work of Paul Heussenstamm. It was a transforming moment
and she became more intimately connected with the mandala—never looking back—only going deeper and deeper into the center. In 2013
Uma trained at the Cosmic Cowgirl University with Visionary Artist Shiloh Sophia McCloud and shortly thereafter in her Color of Woman
Teachers Training Program. The therapeutic healing of the Color of Woman Method has expanded Uma’s tools of offering.
“I thrive on reaching greater depths of joy, and loving myself and others in a more complete way—there is no greater joy than
sharing that journey with others and watching their lives transform. I offer a loving, supportive atmosphere for this transformation to
happen. This is not just a workshop, this is a soul experience.” –Uma Mulnick
richard odom
movement: Yoga and Awareness, Sunday, 4:00 - 5:00, Ram Room (see page 35)
“Breathe in thinking, ‘My body is strong.’ Breathe out thinking, ‘My mind is at peace.’” If these words are
familiar to you, then you are one of thousands of people who have attended a yoga class with Richard Odom.
Richard began teaching yoga in the Wood River Valley in the mid-1970s, long before it exploded in popularity.
He provided early instruction to actress and author Mariel Hemingway, tennis pro John McEnroe and local
yogi Ryan Redman. He is a self-taught yogi who emphasizes self-knowledge over received ideas; he trusts in the “wisdom of the body” to
lead yoga practitioners to what they need and don’t need from yoga.
Richard grew up in Daytona Beach, Fla. His parents were theosophists who kept a vast library of books, journals and magazines, and
he was introduced to the sages, seers and hermits of the East, as well as to yoga. He practiced alone, forcing himself into the postures
illustrated in his books, even wedging himself under the furniture in his house to get into position. He also studied martial arts, attended
West Point for a year and then graduated from Florida State University with a degree in history and philosophy. He developed his own
teaching practice, one that is light on philosophy, big on floor poses and often humorous. Richard is the author of “Yoga - Eastern vs.
Western Philosophy,” a chapter in the latest edition of Fitness: Theory and Practice, a textbook for aerobics and fitness professionals, and
he has produced a DVD called Yoga for Everyday People.
the Bay Area Dreamworkers Group(BADG) in 1985 and founded the San Francisco Dream House in 1986 while continuing to develop
his unique approach.
disappeared without a trace during her teenage years, Susan learned that the absence of a loved one’s body delays the grieving process. As an
adult, after viewing a friend’s body at the funeral home, she saw the importance of taking charge of the funeral process. These experiences
have led Susan to educate folks about their legal choices and options in death care as well as in celebrating this transition. Susan lives in Boise,
Idaho, where she works as a practitioner in holistic death care.
the passing of loved ones in a different way. In 2007, when Kate was called to her father’s bedside, she experienced something completely
different. Suddenly, it felt natural to advocate for her father who was on a ventilator and couldn’t speak. Kate found a way to communicate
with her father, and in this space both participated in an end-of-life conversation. After his death, she began her training as a death midwife.
a concerted focus on how biologically sensitive research can be applied, in a practical manner, to help people live healthier, more productive
lives. Subsequent to completing her Ph.D., Dr. Walker taught a course at Georgetown University entitled “Nature, Nurture, and
GMO and Herbicides: The Assault on our Food, the Environment and our
Health, Saturday, 3:45 - 5:00, Limelight A
We are truly privileged to be hosting, not one but two of the world’s most esteemed
scientists in the fields of herbicides and food production. Dr. Hayes and Dr. Huber have
spent all of their professional lives studying the human and environmental consequences
inherent in modern industrial production. Their respective findings are staggering and must compel us to reconsider the value and safety
of the majority of our food received through current farming practices. Many of us are aware of the use of GMO, herbicides and chemical
fertilizers but not many realize they are present in nearly all food now available in our grocery stores. These world renowned experts present
a rare opportunity to gain insights into food production and what ultimately ends up inside of us. Dr. Tyrone Hayes and Dr. Don Huber’s
presentation will be followed with a Q & A session moderated by artist and activist Tom Lieber.
Kurt Koontz thought he was well prepared for his 490-mile walking trip on the historic Camino de Santiago
pilgrimage route in Spain. He was fit and strong. He had a good guidebook and all the right equipment. His
pilgrim passport would grant him access to the shelter of hostels along the way. But all that, however helpful,
did not begin to encompass the grandeur of his external or internal adventure. A Million Steps climbs over the
high meadows of the Pyrenees, quests through the unceasing wind of the Meseta, and dances in the rains of Galicia.
What’s Up on Planet Earth? The Birth of a New Civilization, Global Awakening & the Oneness
Phenomenon, Saturday 3:45 - 5:00, Sawtooth Room
The Oneness Phenomenon and the Oneness Blessing AKA Oneness Deeksha are helping to affect a global shift
in human consciousness and help Humanity face unprecedented changes on planet earth. Oneness Deeksha is
a transfer of sacred intelligent energy which brings about a permanent shift in the way our brains experience
reality. When the shift occurs, our feelings of inner conflict, alienation and separation disappear. We call this shift Awakening. With
Awakening comes freedom from resistance to the reality of the present moment. There is a calm acceptance of whatever is happening and
the ability to flow with it spontaneously. This is the promise of Awakening, and as more and more people become awakened the collective
consciousness of Humanity itself is shifting.
Kim John Payne
Simplicity Parenting, Sunday, 11:15 - 1:15, Limelight A
In this lecture, Kim explains why less is more and presents four simplicity pathways you can take to help your
child feel calmer, happier and more secure. This is the work and the workshop which provided the inspiration
for Kim’s book by the same name. It presents not only the four simple steps, but examples of how to bring “the
power of less” into your home on a daily basis.
So much of modern life seems to be about more. Very few presentations you will attend will suggest that you do less, but this is one of
them. It quietly presents ‘do-able’ daily ways in which we can simplify our families lives and by doing so build resiliency within our children.
Death and Dying: Shifting the Paradigm, Saturday, 9:30 - 10:45, Sawtooth Room
How can we learn to balance life and death while still holding the mystery in all its sacredness? We
have the choice, and it is up to us individually to shift our perceptions around death, and in turn
ease our own fears. Certified Death Midwives Kate Riley and Susan Randall can help with that
shift—to open up a dialogue, educate and advocate for the dying and their families.
Take ownership of the fact that you will one day die, or that a loved one is dying. Learn how you can become personally involved,
even if it’s simply by initiating an end-of-life conversation. Stand in awareness with what is happening. Show up fully and be present in
the moment because, inevitably, a window will open.
Eat Juicy - Think Juicy - Feel Juicy, Sunday 2:00 - 3:15, Sawtooth Room
We can all feel better, be happier and live life optimally. It is time for us all to stop surviving and start thriving.
The food we eat can either heal us or kill us; the thoughts we think are the most important keys to the outcome of
our lives, and the body is our temple meant to be strong, flexible and vibrating at a high frequency. Hydration is
the key to health and to EAT JUICY is to eat food that is full of water, nutrients, life force, digestive enzymes and
oxygen. It is to drink liquids that are fresh, alkaline and nourish us on a cellular level. The state of our mind creates either a happy or miserable
life. Negative thoughts cause disease, but to THINK JUICY is to have a mind focused on creation, positivity, self-love and gratitude. A
healthy flexible spine is essential to longevity. To FEEL JUICY is to release all stored up negative emotions and to be fully connected to our
strong, fluid and healthy body. It is to listen to the messages and desires coming from within.
Peggy Rometo
Celebrity Psychic-Medium Peggy Rometo, Saturday, 11:15 - 12:30, Sawtooth Room
Join Hay House author, intuitive healer, and psychic-medium Peggy Rometo as she turns back time and relays
the stories that led her to her psychic gifts. From the age of six, after being taunted by brothers that she didn’t
actually see and speaking with her recently deceased grandmother, Peggy could feel the world of spirit. For years
she was haunted nightly; her covers would be ripped off and she was jerked to the end of the bed by her feet.
She fought for sleep and peace of mind. After enduring countless losses as an emerging young adult, from the sudden death of a potential
boyfriend, to being raped twice, to dreaming of her brother Dave’s unexpected death, all before the age of 25, she wasn’t sure what to be
more afraid of, the afterlife or life itself.
It wasn’t until the death of yet another older brother, Larry—this time unforeseen—that she finally got fed up with the suffering and
demanded resolution. She started to fight back and quickly got strong. Larry’s death ignited a desire within her and propelled her to think
differently and ask better questions. She started with, “What should my life be used for?” And she turned to God for the answers. She
tapped into her intuitive and psychic ability as a force for good, one that would change the course of her life forever.
The presentation will be followed by a guided meditation and a chance to have Peggy intuitively answer your questions.
For more information on Peggy see her participant bio on page 21.
Harnessing Biobehavioral Science to Optimize Health, Saturday,
11:15 - 12:30, Limelight A
Although the existence of the mind-body link has long been understood at an intuitive
level, recent research is beginning to reveal the biochemical pathways that
connect stress, mental health, and physical health. An individual’s perception of stress
stems from a combination of genetics, behavior, and accumulated life experiences. Importantly, these factors shape an individual’s
“biological sensitivity to context,” or characteristics that predispose some people to thrive only under ideal conditions (“orchids”),
others to thrive anywhere (“dandelions”), with most people on a continuum somewhere between the two extremes. These differences
in reactivity and response to stress can set into motion a biological cascade effect with important implications for health, behavior,
performance, cognitive functioning, and overall quality of life.
The emerging field of “salivary bioscience” (the non-invasive measurement and analysis of saliva) has provided an opportunity to
examine these dynamics, and gain insight into how stress biomarkers fluctuate amidst everyday life experiences such as stress, social
interaction, sleep, exercise, and excitement. Our presentation will provide an overview of cutting-edge research related to the psychobiology
of stress and performance, and discuss strategies for translating the basic science into opportunities to optimize health and
wellbeing for individuals and families.
Twisting The Issues Out of Your Tissues, Saturday, 9:15 - 10:45, Ram Room
The energy of trauma, pain and addiction lives in the body until we do the physical work necessary to get it out
of our tissues. A twisting-focused yoga practice is one key to processing this stuck energy. We will twist and
flow to clear the pipes and then experience a deep, blissful Kundalini meditation.
The Sacred Space of Santosha - A Life Beyond Craving, Sunday, 8:00 - 9:15, Ram Room
Within the sacred space of the present moment we can begin to practice Santosha and move beyond craving and addiction. This is the
state of true acceptance of what is. We do not wish for anything to be different, not even the challenging parts of our lives. We become
the witness of our experience and see the Divine within all. In this class, we will practice Vinyasa Flow to warm the body, Kundalini
Yoga to activate the whole being and Meditation to access the state of Santosha. All levels welcome
For more information on Tommy, see his participant bio on page 22.
Get Straight and Strong, Sunday, 11:00 - 12:00, Ram Room
The foundation of strength is balanced posture. Joints that are out of alignment are weak and prone to injury.
In this class you will straighten then strengthen the deep postural muscles at the core of your skeletal position.
All levels are welcome to attend.
For more information on Jessica see her participant bio on page 16.
Richard Odom
Yoga and Awareness, Sunday, 4:00 - 5:00, Ram Room
This class uses ancient technology (yoga) with modern design to create a body of information that, brought into
awareness, enables the student to discern between the troubled workings of the mind and the authentic needs of
the body. Anyone can follow Richard’s instructions as they are clear, intuitive, instructive and filled with humor.
Tommy Rosen, Recovery 2.0: Cutting Edge Perspectives on the 12 Steps, Yoga and Meditation, Friday,
1:30 - 4:30, Continental Room, Cost: $50
Recovery 2.0 has 6 pillars, which together form the basis of a holistic and more powerful approach to recovery
from addiction than what is currently in place today. The 6 pillars are: The 12-Steps, Yoga, Meditation, Real
Food, Mission, Service to Others.
Anyone can heal from addiction with proper attitude, direction, inspiration and love. Part of the challenge has been that we have not
known how to do this. We have not realized that there are deeper levels of detoxification and transformation available, which are necessary
to uproot addiction and transcend it altogether.
We have also been lacking key perspectives about the causes, nature and anatomy of addiction. The perspectives, practices and technologies
that are necessary to fully heal from addiction and thrive in recovery are the subjects of this workshop.
ego. You’ll discover the Seven Simple Secrets that are needed to help you create and sustain your connection that gives shape to Genius
Intuition. You will even make use of the chakra energy system to connect and anchor your seven main chakras with the seven corresponding
Christina Tindle
Peak Performance Breakthroughs in Athletics...and Life!, Friday, 1:30 - 4:30, Camas Room,
Cost: $65
Peak Performance is a YES attitude, called MOJO, which busts through self-limiting barriers to achieve world
class physical results. When athletes use MOJO, they leave comfort zones behind to reach ultimate athletic
goals. While comfort zones are often a stress-free place or situation where one feels safe or at ease, learn how
they ultimately limit success and skill development when they become a hiding place to avoid facing difficulties or fears--called Nojo.
Nojo comfort zones minimize athletic potential and rob competitors of valuable time and confidence to develop world class abilities.
Learn to develop Mojo, the personal power that drives all success, and employ it to achieve extreme athletic outcomes. Ironically, research
shows that peak performance comes from one’s passion, positive clarity, and commitment, not results or numbers. In this workshop,
participants learn to develop the sort of inner strength that fuels excellence and top performance. Adversities and fears are replaced with
Mojo-producing focus and action. Traits and beliefs of world class competitors and Olympians are spotlighted along with mental rules for
athletic excellence. These elements, along with top mental techniques, are designed into Individual Mojo Peak Performance Plans. Increase
focus, confidence, enjoyment, and push though physical and mental pain that stifles athletic performance. Say YES to that.
This workshop is also appropriate and helpful for amateur or recreational athletes that want a boost, and especially motivating for
those returning to their sport after an injury, motherhood, or other hiatus.
For more information on Christina, see her participant bio on page 23.
Fred Olson
The Practice of Inner Image Healing, Friday, 1:30 - 4:30, Lupine Room, Cost: $95
In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the basic assumptions, models and practices that differentiate
Inner Image Healing from other approaches to healing. Case examples will be used to illustrate the diversity,
elegance and power of this approach to transformation and healing through the use of dreams and nightmares,
emotional issues and trauma, and physical issues and symptoms. Participants will have the opportunity to experience
Inner Image Healing directly during the workshop using group and/or personal exercises.
For more information on Fred, see his participant bio on page 19.
Alex Laws
Awakening Your Intuition, Friday, 1:30 - 4:30, Aspen Room, Cost: $37
Alex Laws will present eight steps to awakening one’s intuition and living a life taking action on the thoughts
and feelings each of us have within. All participants will leave the workshop with individual tailored plans for
themselves, which will allow them to take action, listen, and to exist in a healthier and more fulfilling life.
Kim John Payne
Simplicity Parenting, Monday, 8:30 - 1:00, Continental Room, Cost: $45
Kim will explore in depth why less is more and present four simplicity pathways you can take to help your
child feel calmer, happier and more secure.
Step One: Simplify your environment | Step Two: Simplify food and mealtimes | Step Three: Simplify your family’s schedule | Step
Four: Simplify the amount of information and involvement about the adult world
Kia Miller
Heal and Rejuvenate Yourself Through The Breath, Monday, 9:30 - 12:30, Sawtooth Room, Cost: $50
The ancient sages recognized the breath as one of the key ways that we build and balance energy in the body. It
is the bridge between the unconscious and the conscious and a powerful tool for personal transformation. It is
perhaps the most important practice for this time in the world, when stress is high and our energy reserves are
low. This workshop explores the 4 key uses of the breath (letting go, carrying our words, changing our energy,
transforming our consciousness). You will explore your relationship to the breath and learn key pranayamas (breath techniques) that will
help you to become masterful at managing your energy and revitalizing your mind and body. These tools will serve you throughout your
life. Workshop will include movement, pranayama and meditation.
For more information on Kia, see her participant bio on page 18.
Nanette Ford
Awakening, Here and Now, Monday, 9:30 - 12:30, Camas Room, Cost: $35
The only requirement to attend this workshop is a desire to stop suffering. Divine Energies are exceptionally
available on the planet now waiting to assist you in evolving to higher levels of consciousness called Awakening,
God Realization and Enlightenment. This workshop will offer access to those Divine energies. Awakening is
waiting for you now. It is your karma and your destiny. From the moment you wake up, the struggles begin with
internal dialog and conflict. There is a constant inner conversation of chatter, which follows you and governs your day. The Buddhists
call this Monkey Mind, it runs you and by the end of the day you are exhausted looking for a way to find some peace. When Awakening
happens the Monkey Mind calms down and dissolves. This workshop will provide you the opportunity to listen and participate in a real
discussion with normal people who have had this neurobiological brain shift called Awakening. This will enliven your consciousness and
start your own process towards moving out of the chattering mind toward internal peace. This workshop will offer you an opportunity
for personal interaction with confirmed Awakened people. Through the Oneness Blessing and ancient meditation techniques, by the
completion of the workshop you will leave feeling a change of consciousness, which will continue to expand.
For more information on Nanette, see her participant bio on page 14.
The Power of Yes: Master a Positive Belief System and Achieve Mindfulness for Stress Reduction,
Monday 1:30 - 4:30, Continental Room, Cost: $50
Every human being has come into this life to create something unique and enriching this world. Each of us is born
with a gift and a task through which we are drawn to people, places, events or horizons. Destiny, success and fulfillment
are the landmarks of this energy. However, the power we lose in everyday needs or confusion often robs us of
the control and the ability to stay on the ideal path. Fears cause a loss in confidence. But those fears and the lack of freedom are related; we are
forced to face our goals again in the eye, to overcome obstacles, and to dare for a new beginning. The techniques of mindfulness meditation can
be used to help us achieve physical relaxation, inner peace and an enhanced ability to cope with stress. Learn to focus on a moment-to-moment
awareness of our body and mind, gaining direct insight into how our thoughts and emotions can trigger physical tension, stress and health
problems. We will explore the power of foods, antioxidants, detoxification, exercise and nutrition. The seminar aims to raise awareness that we
develop a unique sense of individual power within us. It’s about how to discover the champion in us, to take our destiny in the hands and to
seek creative success. Inspired motivation, the power of transformation and the recognition of our own potential are made visible and tangible
in this workshop. In this way, we are introduced to a vibrant spiritual zone in which develops the inspiration from the book of our own lives.
For more information on Gary, see his participant bio on page 20.
empathy, wisdom, and connection among students. Help your youths develop their ability to pay attention and self regulate emotions
using mindful awareness. Learn new ways to communicate with each other using mindful based language. Over all, the power of teaching
from a place of presence will be emphasized and supported, and bring personal benefit to all who attend. Participants will receive a packet
Conscious Aging & Conscious Dying, Monday, 1:30 - 4:30, Lupine Room, Cost: $50
To maintain a healthy body, we must make lifestyle choices that promote good health. If you know
that one day you will die, why wouldn’t you want to make choices that promote a good death? The
members of the baby boomer generation, all 76 million of us who are still living, are facing endof-life
decisions. Most do not want an institutional death; more and more are seeking new options
and educating themselves to make better decisions. How can we plan for an affordable, meaningful death?
Spend three lively hours with Certified Death Midwives, Kate Riley and Susan Randall for an extension of their presentation: Death
and Dying: Shifting the Paradigm. Kate and Susan will lead participants into examining death on a more intimate level:
• How to prepare for your own death
• How to initiate end of life dialogue/conversation
• What to do if things don’t go as planned
• Your legal rights in caring for a deceased loved one
• Assistance with filling out and filing necessary legal documents
• Home funeral vs. commercial funeral homes
• Legal issues and costs involved
In addition, Kate and Susan will have information on shrouds, caskets and alternative urns, instructions on how to build a pine coffin,
cremation requirements, green burials, and how to create individual ceremonies, rituals and memorial services. They will have Advanced
Medical Directive forms, as well as additional information and resources such as Lisa Carlson’s Caring for the Dead: Your Final Act of Love
(which covers laws and regulations in all 50 states) and information on local references such as Hospice of the Wood River Valley or
Wood River Chapel.
