There is a nominal fee for Land Registry searches (£6 as of April 2007). Alternatively, if your solicitor looks after your title deeds you can ask your solicitor to provide you with a certificate of title, which the Council will accept as proof of ownership. You can also prove ownership by providing a copy of the title deeds yourself.
