Summer math = Fall Success<br />
Research shows again and again that schools and students<br />
who achieve at a high rate extend academic activities into the<br />
summer. To provide that opportunity, the junior high schools in<br />
the <strong>Bethel</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong> will be instituting the Summer Math<br />
Experience for all students who are entering Math 70, Pre-<br />
Algebra and Algebra in the fall of <strong>2011</strong>.<br />
Starting this summer, we’re asking students entering those<br />
courses to work through seven packets that will prepare them for<br />
a successful entry into mathematics this fall. The seven weekly<br />
packets will be posted on the district website (www.bethelsd.<br />
org) and will also be available for pick-up on Mondays at the<br />
district office, located at 517 176th Street East in Spanaway.<br />
Each week will include a help session on Wednesday from<br />
9 to 11 a.m. at the district office. The session will be hosted<br />
by a <strong>Bethel</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong> mathematics teacher, as well as<br />
high school mathematics students who are earning community<br />
service.<br />
