Mission Statement<br />

The mission of <strong>Forsyth</strong> <strong>County</strong> Parks and Recreation is to enhance the quality of life for all citizens of <strong>Forsyth</strong> <strong>County</strong> by providing passive and active recreational, educational,<br />

Important Registration information | Payment is due at registration. We accept cash, personal check, money order or MasterCard/Visa. If an activity becomes full, we<br />

will place your name on a waiting list and you will be contacted if a space becomes available. Registration is not accepted by instructors. Out-of-county residents will be<br />

charged a 20% increase for all activities and facility rentals. Please register at least two days prior to the start date.<br />

FACILITY RENTALS<br />

Various park facilities and amenities are available for rental. The facilities are great places to hold meetings, family gatherings, birthday parties, showers and other<br />

events. Please see a list of parks and facilities on page 4. Facility reservations are available first come, first served. To inquire about facility availability and rental fees,<br />

please call 770-781-2215 or visit www.forsythco.com/parks. To reserve a facility, you will need to complete a rental agreement and pay the rental fee and deposit fee.<br />

Out-of-county residents will be charged a 20% increase for all rentals.<br />

REFUNDS AND TRANSFERS<br />

Any activity or rental cancelled by Parks and Recreation will be refunded in full. To request a refund or transfer, please visit www.forsythco.com/parks and click on<br />

Refund/Transfer Request to complete an online form or visit us in person to complete a written form.<br />

Class Refund Policy | Refunds/transfers requested 2 or more business days prior to the activity start date will receive a full refund/transfer. 50% of the activity fee will be<br />

refunded/transferred if requested before the second meeting of the program. No refunds/transfers after the second meeting of the program.<br />

Camp Refund Policy | Refunds/transfers requested 1 week or more prior to the camp start date will receive a full refund/transfer. 50% of the camp fee will be refunded/<br />

transferred if requested less than 1 week but by 12 p.m. the Friday before the camp start date. No refunds/transfers after 12 p.m. the Friday before camp starts.<br />

Fitness Room/Fitclass Pass | Refunds requested within 7 days of purchase will receive a full refund.<br />

Youth Baseball/Softball Fall League | No refunds will be issued except under special circumstances as approved by the department.<br />

Adult Athletic Leagues | No refunds will be issued for teams except under special circumstances as approved by the department<br />

Facility Rental Refund Policy | Refunds must be requested at least 2 full business days prior to the rental to receive a full refund. Refunds will not be granted for pavilion<br />

This class is a challenging boot camp format that targets the entire body through cardio, strength training, stretching and toning. Bring a towel and a water bottle. Classes will<br />

Campers will be transported by <strong>Forsyth</strong> <strong>County</strong> School buses.<br />

General Camp Information<br />

• The summer day camp program is for children ages 6 – 10 (must be 6<br />

by September 1, 2013.)<br />

• Children will participate in a structured schedule of indoor and outdoor<br />

activities including games, art, fitness, special guests and other fun<br />

theme related activities.<br />

• Each campsite will go on a field trip 1 day per week.<br />

• Children will be placed into age groups. The camp has a 1:10 ratio<br />

• Campers need to bring a non-perishable sack lunch, 2 snacks, a bathing<br />

suit, sunscreen and a change of clothes each day. Please label all<br />

personal items.<br />

• Parents must sign-in and out every day, ID will be required for pick-up.<br />

Pick-up and car-pooling arrangements must be arranged in the mornings<br />

for afternoon pick-up. Charge for late pick-up is $1.00 per minute per child.<br />

• If your child requires special accommodations, please detail this information<br />

at the time of registration or call the camp coordinator at 770-781-2215 at<br />

least 2 weeks prior to camp. Reasonable accommodations will be made to<br />

serve those with special requests.<br />

• The Parent Handbook is available online at www.forsythco.com/parks for<br />

further information.<br />

• Extended hours will provide your child with staff supervision as they<br />

participate in a variety of fun activities.<br />

Safety town<br />

Safety Town is a fun-filled, 5-day program where participants ages 4 – 6 will learn safety awareness and preventive safety procedures including fire safety, water safety, car and<br />

bus safety, stranger danger, poison safety, gun safety and more! Children will have fun learning traffic safety while driving kid carts through the child size “Safety Town Village.”<br />

A Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday each week. Snack will be provided. This program is made possible by partnerships with the <strong>Forsyth</strong> <strong>County</strong> Sheriff’s Department,<br />

<strong>Forsyth</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fire department, <strong>Forsyth</strong> <strong>County</strong> School System and community volunteers.<br />

Learn dance combinations used in “Hip-Hop” dance style. Develop the strength, flexibility, rhythm, leaps, turns, balance, and combinations in the center, and safe body<br />

mechanics to dance confidently in a social atmosphere. This style of dance is known for fast, athletic movements and body isolations, unlike the fluid movement of ballet.<br />

QUICKSTART I & II - This program created by USTA is a fun and instructional entry into tennis. Group instruction, with a 6:1 student to teacher ratio, is given<br />

on a 60 foot court using low compression balls. Students are encouraged to use an appropriate junior size racket (8 & under use 19”, 21” or 23” rackets; 10 & under use<br />

23” or 25” rackets). The goal of the program is to help players learn the skills needed to play junior league and USTA tournaments.<br />

The fees for 6 week sessions are 1 drill/week - $80, 2 drills/week - $160, 3 drills/week - $240<br />

Spring Sessions are held: Quickstart I for ages 8 & under - Monday 4 – 5 pm/Wednesday 4 - 5 pm/Saturday 10 - 11 am<br />

JUNIOR ACADEMY - This a training program designed for the junior player, ages 11 and older, who wants to play high school tennis, become a competitively<br />

ranked tournament player or compete at the college level. On court training includes intensive drilling, match tactics and conditioning. Off court training includes mental<br />

imagery, goal setting and tournament coaching. Academy drills are 2 hours per drill, 2 to 3 times per week.<br />

The fee for 6 week sessions are 2 drills/week - $372 and 3 drills/week - $558. Participants must sign-up for a minimum of 2 drills per week.<br />

League Information<br />

Each child will be placed in the appropriate age division by FCPRD. Children may only play up<br />

one age group with permission from the FCPRD Athletic Staff. Each team will be scheduled to<br />

play 8 games. Game days are Monday through Friday (no Saturday or Sunday games). Practices<br />

will be scheduled Monday through Saturday prior to games beginning. Some teams may practice<br />

on Saturdays after games begin. Players will sign up for areas, instead of specific parks. For<br />

example, players that sign up for the North area may have practices and some games at either<br />

Bennett, Central or Coal Mountain Parks.<br />

GYMNASTICS and TUMBLING CLASSES<br />

Children of all ages and skill levels can explore a variety of gymnastics’ elements to develop physically as well as socially in a safe and fun atmosphere. Through practicing<br />

skills and drills from session to session the child is given the ability to move into more complex variations and routines as their skill levels improve. Equipment varies by location.<br />

Children must be age appropriate by the first class. Only Parent Tot parents are allowed to remain in the class area. All others must wait outside for the entire class. There<br />
