Mission Statement 

The mission of Forsyth County Parks and Recreation is to enhance the quality of life for all citizens of Forsyth County by providing passive and active recreational, educational, 

and cultural programming services and to provide parks and recreational facilities that are safe, accessible and aesthetically pleasing to the entire community.

Important Registration information | Payment is due at registration. We accept cash, personal check, money order or MasterCard/Visa. If an activity becomes full, we 

will place your name on a waiting list and you will be contacted if a space becomes available. Registration is not accepted by instructors. Out-of-county residents will be 

charged a 20% increase for all activities and facility rentals. Please register at least two days prior to the start date. 

FACILITY RENTALS 

PAVILIONS | COMMUNITY ROOMS | BASKETBALL COURTS | TENNIS COURTS | BANQUET ROOM | CAMPSITES 

Various park facilities and amenities are available for rental. The facilities are great places to hold meetings, family gatherings, birthday parties, showers and other 

events. Please see a list of parks and facilities on page 4. Facility reservations are available first come, first served. To inquire about facility availability and rental fees, 

please call 770-781-2215 or visit www.forsythco.com/parks. To reserve a facility, you will need to complete a rental agreement and pay the rental fee and deposit fee. 

Out-of-county residents will be charged a 20% increase for all rentals. 

REFUNDS AND TRANSFERS

Any activity or rental cancelled by Parks and Recreation will be refunded in full. To request a refund or transfer, please visit www.forsythco.com/parks and click on 

Refund/Transfer Request to complete an online form or visit us in person to complete a written form. 

Class Refund Policy | Refunds/transfers requested 2 or more business days prior to the activity start date will receive a full refund/transfer. 50% of the activity fee will be 

refunded/transferred if requested before the second meeting of the program. No refunds/transfers after the second meeting of the program. 

Camp Refund Policy | Refunds/transfers requested 1 week or more prior to the camp start date will receive a full refund/transfer. 50% of the camp fee will be refunded/ 

transferred if requested less than 1 week but by 12 p.m. the Friday before the camp start date. No refunds/transfers after 12 p.m. the Friday before camp starts. 

Fitness Room/Fitclass Pass | Refunds requested within 7 days of purchase will receive a full refund. 

Youth Baseball/Softball Fall League | No refunds will be issued except under special circumstances as approved by the department. 

Adult Athletic Leagues | No refunds will be issued for teams except under special circumstances as approved by the department 

Facility Rental Refund Policy | Refunds must be requested at least 2 full business days prior to the rental to receive a full refund. Refunds will not be granted for pavilion 

rentals due to inclement weather.

This class is a challenging boot camp format that targets the entire body through cardio, strength training, stretching and toning. Bring a towel and a water bottle. Classes will 

meet in the lobby of the recreation center and will be held outside.

Photography 101 | Learn how your camera works and about the different settings. Gain knowledge on Lenses/F-Stops/shutter speed and sensors. Also, gain knowledge on 

what camera to purchase if you are in the market for a new camera. You will also learn how to transfer your images from camera for printing and storage. 

Photography 102 | Learn how to use your camera to take more creative photos. Subjects will include Depth of Field/ Creative Shutter speeds/ISO/Composition and good 

exposure. This class is intended for users who already have a camera and familiar with its basic functions. Let’s take the fear out of Photography and make it fun.

Campers will be transported by Forsyth County School buses. 

General Camp Information 

• The summer day camp program is for children ages 6 – 10 (must be 6 

by September 1, 2013.) 

• Children will participate in a structured schedule of indoor and outdoor 

activities including games, art, fitness, special guests and other fun 

theme related activities. 

• Each campsite will go on a field trip 1 day per week. 

• Children will be placed into age groups. The camp has a 1:10 ratio 

• Campers need to bring a non-perishable sack lunch, 2 snacks, a bathing 

suit, sunscreen and a change of clothes each day. Please label all 

personal items. 

• Parents must sign-in and out every day, ID will be required for pick-up. 

Pick-up and car-pooling arrangements must be arranged in the mornings 

for afternoon pick-up. Charge for late pick-up is $1.00 per minute per child. 

• If your child requires special accommodations, please detail this information 

at the time of registration or call the camp coordinator at 770-781-2215 at 

least 2 weeks prior to camp. Reasonable accommodations will be made to 

serve those with special requests. 

• The Parent Handbook is available online at www.forsythco.com/parks for 

further information. 

• Extended hours will provide your child with staff supervision as they 

participate in a variety of fun activities. 

Safety town 

Safety Town is a fun-filled, 5-day program where participants ages 4 – 6 will learn safety awareness and preventive safety procedures including fire safety, water safety, car and 

bus safety, stranger danger, poison safety, gun safety and more! Children will have fun learning traffic safety while driving kid carts through the child size “Safety Town Village.” 

A Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday each week. Snack will be provided. This program is made possible by partnerships with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, 

Forsyth County Fire department, Forsyth County School System and community volunteers.

Dance CAMPS 

PRINCESS BALLET CAMP 

A magical journey around the world with Tinkerbelle and friends....with beach fun, tea parties and more! The camp is a structured program designed for the early development 

of technical ballet and movement. It precisely meets the needs and limitations of pre-schoolers by providing a carefully paced sequence of exercises to develop physical 

conditioning with poise and grace. In the program, children learn self-discipline, listening skills, coordination skills, left and right discrimination, patterns in movement, and 

pre-ballet. Dress Code: pink leotard and pink ballet slippers (label attire); long hair should be pulled up. Please send a healthy snack each day.

Learn dance combinations used in “Hip-Hop” dance style. Develop the strength, flexibility, rhythm, leaps, turns, balance, and combinations in the center, and safe body 

mechanics to dance confidently in a social atmosphere. This style of dance is known for fast, athletic movements and body isolations, unlike the fluid movement of ballet. 

“Hip-Hop” is extremely popular and can be seen in commercials, music videos and concerts. As with all CMD programs all music and choreography is “age appropriate.” Dress

QUICKSTART I & II - This program created by USTA is a fun and instructional entry into tennis. Group instruction, with a 6:1 student to teacher ratio, is given 

on a 60 foot court using low compression balls. Students are encouraged to use an appropriate junior size racket (8 & under use 19”, 21” or 23” rackets; 10 & under use 

23” or 25” rackets). The goal of the program is to help players learn the skills needed to play junior league and USTA tournaments. 

The fees for 6 week sessions are 1 drill/week - $80, 2 drills/week - $160, 3 drills/week - $240 

Spring Sessions are held: Quickstart I for ages 8 & under - Monday 4 – 5 pm/Wednesday 4 - 5 pm/Saturday 10 - 11 am 

Quickstart II for ages 10 & under – Monday 5 – 6 pm/Wednesday 5 - 6 pm /Saturday 11am - 12 pm 

JUNIOR ACADEMY - This a training program designed for the junior player, ages 11 and older, who wants to play high school tennis, become a competitively 

ranked tournament player or compete at the college level. On court training includes intensive drilling, match tactics and conditioning. Off court training includes mental 

imagery, goal setting and tournament coaching. Academy drills are 2 hours per drill, 2 to 3 times per week. 

The fee for 6 week sessions are 2 drills/week - $372 and 3 drills/week - $558. Participants must sign-up for a minimum of 2 drills per week.

Each child will be placed in the appropriate age division by FCPRD. Children may only play up 

one age group with permission from the FCPRD Athletic Staff. Each team will be scheduled to 

play 8 games. Game days are Monday through Friday (no Saturday or Sunday games). Practices 

will be scheduled Monday through Saturday prior to games beginning. Some teams may practice 

on Saturdays after games begin. Players will sign up for areas, instead of specific parks. For 

example, players that sign up for the North area may have practices and some games at either 

Bennett, Central or Coal Mountain Parks.

GYMNASTICS and TUMBLING CLASSES

Children of all ages and skill levels can explore a variety of gymnastics’ elements to develop physically as well as socially in a safe and fun atmosphere. Through practicing 

skills and drills from session to session the child is given the ability to move into more complex variations and routines as their skill levels improve. Equipment varies by location. 

Children must be age appropriate by the first class. Only Parent Tot parents are allowed to remain in the class area. All others must wait outside for the entire class. There

Creative Movement & Dance Inc. instructors teach this class and will encourage your child to have fun as they clap, sing and move to music. They use scarves and hula hoops

TRAIL RUNNING 101 

Join local ultra-marathoner and cross country trail runner John McBrayer for 3 fun filled weeks of trail running training. Classes will begin with trail running instruction covering 

basic running techniques, and be followed by a trail run on local trails. After 3 classes try your new skills at the Dirty Spokes 5k at Haw Creek on June 22 – must register

WAIVER 

I, the undersigned, assume all risks and hazards incidental to participation, including transportation to and from these activities and do hereby, for myself, my child, my heir, executors, and administrators, 

waive, release, absolve, indemnify and agree to hold harmless the Forsyth County Government, Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department and its representatives, sponsors, affiliated 

associations, organizers, officers, officials and participants for any and all damages suffered by myself or my child in connection with this activity. Also, I agree that I will abide by all the rules and 

policies outlined in the National Rules and set by the Forsyth County Parks & Recreation Department. 

I the undersigned give permission to the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department to take photographs during program/activities and use those photographs in advertising or promoting Parks 

and Recreation programs and activities. 

I the undersigned give permission to the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department to obtain and authorize medical care for said minor child at any hospital, emergency medical center, or 

any other health facility; by any medical doctor, osteopath, nurse, surgeon or any other medical practitioner. The undersigned further agrees to be responsible for the expenses of any medical care 

needed by the minor child, and hold the staff authorizing the medical care harmless from any damages suffered by the minor child or the undersigned as a result of the medical treatment authorized.

July is National Recreation and Parks Month… 

Spend a day at the park - it’s great for your health! Visiting a park and being active may reduce 

stress, improve cardiovascular health, help ward off obesity and decrease feelings of depression. 

Playing in parks can also help children build and maintain healthy bones and muscles as well 

as improve self-esteem. Parks and recreation in your community can help to reduce crime, 

encourage volunteerism and promote stewardship as well as provide social outlets for everyone. 

Take a walk. Visit a playground. 

Play a round of disc golf. Fly a kite. 

Shoot some basketball hoops. Take a hike. 

Enjoy a picnic. Tennis anyone?
