This is a great time to partner as a <strong>Kids</strong> <strong>Day</strong> Sponsor. The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Downey</strong> Community Services<br />
Department in conjunction with local organizations is hosting the 24 th Annual <strong>Kids</strong> <strong>Day</strong> event “A<br />
Celebration <strong>of</strong> Healthy Youth in a Caring Community”. This annual community event recognizes<br />
and celebrates the thousands <strong>of</strong> school-aged youth in our community.<br />
<strong>Kids</strong> <strong>Day</strong> / Hall <strong>of</strong> Fame – Saturday, May 14, 2011<br />
<strong>Kids</strong> <strong>Day</strong> includes carnival games, musical performances by local youth school bands and<br />
individual youth performers, 2K Fun Run, and numerous vendors at the information and<br />
environmental fair. Booths provide resources to families regarding youth sports involvement,<br />
fitness/wellness activities, community service providers, and college/career information.<br />
Hall Of Fame is a recognition ceremony <strong>of</strong> school-age youth that have demonstrated significant<br />
contributions in the areas <strong>of</strong> academics, athletics, community involvement through volunteerism<br />
or a heroic deed (saved a life, etc.). They will be presented with certificates and awards at the<br />
<strong>Kids</strong> <strong>Day</strong> event on our main stage.<br />
You are invited to assist the efforts <strong>of</strong> <strong>Kids</strong> <strong>Day</strong> in several ways:<br />
- Donating a single or set <strong>of</strong> gift cards for products or services. Gift cards are used as<br />
prizes for “Kid Tracks Prize Walk” at the annual <strong>Kids</strong> <strong>Day</strong> event.<br />
- Donating a minimum <strong>of</strong> 150 small gifts or promotional items which will be distributed in<br />
goodie bags to participants <strong>of</strong> the 2K Fun Run.<br />
- Donating a minimum <strong>of</strong> 300 small gifts or promotional items which will be placed in<br />
goody bags and given to every Hall <strong>of</strong> Fame nominee. Typical items have included<br />
pens, pencils, erasers, water bottles, key chains, stickers, rulers and coloring books.<br />
Any donation that you are able to provide for this community event focusing on health and<br />
wellness and the promotion <strong>of</strong> healthy youth is greatly appreciated. If donating to this event is<br />
possible, we need to receive your items no later than Friday, April 22, 2011 in order to publish<br />
your information in the Hall <strong>of</strong> Fame Program.<br />
