Dear Community Leader,
This is a great time to partner as a Kids Day Sponsor. The City of Downey Community Services
Department in conjunction with local organizations is hosting the 24 th Annual Kids Day event “A
Celebration of Healthy Youth in a Caring Community”. This annual community event recognizes
and celebrates the thousands of school-aged youth in our community.
Kids Day / Hall of Fame – Saturday, May 14, 2011
Kids Day includes carnival games, musical performances by local youth school bands and
individual youth performers, 2K Fun Run, and numerous vendors at the information and
environmental fair. Booths provide resources to families regarding youth sports involvement,
fitness/wellness activities, community service providers, and college/career information.
Hall Of Fame is a recognition ceremony of school-age youth that have demonstrated significant
contributions in the areas of academics, athletics, community involvement through volunteerism
or a heroic deed (saved a life, etc.). They will be presented with certificates and awards at the
Kids Day event on our main stage.
You are invited to assist the efforts of Kids Day in several ways:
- Donating a single or set of gift cards for products or services. Gift cards are used as
prizes for “Kid Tracks Prize Walk” at the annual Kids Day event.
- Donating a minimum of 150 small gifts or promotional items which will be distributed in
goodie bags to participants of the 2K Fun Run.
- Donating a minimum of 300 small gifts or promotional items which will be placed in
goody bags and given to every Hall of Fame nominee. Typical items have included
pens, pencils, erasers, water bottles, key chains, stickers, rulers and coloring books.
Any donation that you are able to provide for this community event focusing on health and
wellness and the promotion of healthy youth is greatly appreciated. If donating to this event is
possible, we need to receive your items no later than Friday, April 22, 2011 in order to publish
your information in the Hall of Fame Program.
