3-5 TECHNOLOGY SCAVENGER HUNT
Visit the Freedom Space Station. What are some things in this station that make life
in Space possible for astronauts? What would happen if one of those things had not
been invented?
Take a look at the Mercury capsule up the small staircase. How does it differ from the Freedom Space
Station? What basic needs does the Mercury capsule meet to make life in Space possible?
Visit the DSB Poseidon. This research habitat reveals how a person can live several
hundred feet underwater. Here you’ll find the yellow sub, SAM suit and Nautilus
submersible. Pick one, and describe the features of it that would keep you safe several
hundred feet under water. Next, describe some of its limitations.
Where else can you find technology in Ocean? What is it and what does it do?
Make observations about the storefronts, people, and technology in 1898.
Make some predictions about what it will become in 1962, and then pass
through the hallway to see if you were correct. Choose at least three of the
following places in 1898 to observe, predict and compare with 1962 and
the present:
Market
Balliwick’s General Store
Streets and Lighting
Telephones
The Telegraph Office
The Carriage House
Horse Hitching Posts
The place I
observed is...
