When planning a fi shing or hiking trip into the wilderness, there
are a number of things you should consider before heading out.
Grizzly bears, brown bears, cougars, elk and many other wildlife
live in this wilderness playground. Having an understanding of
the do’s and don’ts around wildlife is important. Visit the Alberta
Sustainable Resource Development website for information on
bears and other wildlife:

For those who plan to fi sh, a Wildlife Identifi cation Number card
and a sportfi shing license are required. The 2006 Alberta Guide
to Sportfi shing Regulations is available at all license issuers and
Fish and Wildlife offi ces, or view the guide online:

Proper clothing and footwear are essential. The weather is very
unpredictable in the mountains. Rain gear, fl eece/wool sweaters,
toque and proper pants are essential and key ingredients for
keeping you warm and comfortable.
For day trips, we recommend that you bring extra food, a fi rst-aid
kit, tarp or even a tent in case we are not able to get you out that
day due to poor weather conditions.
For over night camping we recommend that you bring your own
source of fuel (e.g. fi rewood, propane) and that you bring axes
and bucksaws (no chainsaws).
Hunters - it is illegal for us to
transport by helicopter Guides,
Hunters and Weapons. Also, we
cannot transport game. If you have
