INTRODUCTION 

District Pulwama came into existence in July-1979 and was 

carved out from District Anantnag. The District is located at an 

altitude of 4500 to 6000 feet from the Sea level. The District Shopian 

has been recently carved out from District Pulwama in the year 2007 

and is existing in the shape of new District. The District Headquarter 

Pulwama is about 32 Kms away from Srinagar city. The Boundary 

Districts of Pulwama are Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian,Budgam & 

Srinagar. 

“Community Health Care Services” is the key component of 

Integrated Rural Development. As the Rural population comprises 

91% of our Population and as such improvement of the Health of 

Rural Population is an important part of the development. 

Necessitated by multifaceted and interlinked problems of fast 

growing population, inadequate Nutrition, Environmental Pollution, 

rampant communicable diseases & inadequate drinking water . The 

emphasis have by necessity shifted to provision of primary Health 

Care to the multitude of our Rural Population at a place more 

convenient to them, preferably at their door steps. 

It has been and shall be endeavored of the Health Sector of 

District Pulwama, as far as possible to carry on preventive, promotive 

and curative health care services to the community even in the Rural 

areas. Remoter the areas more emphasis has to be given by providing 

Health Care to them.

Decision taken in District Dev. Board meeting Pulwama held on:

Health Institutions in the Rajpora 

Constituency, it was decided that the 

matter will be 

taken up with the Health Department for 

consideration. 

The Construction work at Rajpora 

constituency viz SDH Rajpora, PHC 

Rahmoo & PHC Drubgam is under 

progress. The feasibility report & 

recommendation regarding opening & Upgradation 

of various institutions viz. 

Sheikhar, Karimabad, Arihal, Qasbayar, 

Puterigam, Tumlahall and Arigam of 

Rajpora Constituency has been submitted 

to the Govt,. However, orders in this behalf 

are still awaited.

The issue has been taken up with Director 

Health Services, Kashmir who in turn has 

projected the demand before the Govt, 

X-Ray Technician has been posted in 

Health Unit Khrew by internal adjustment. 

However, the demand for creation of X- 

Ray Technician post has been projected 

before higher authorities. As regards the 

ECG Machine the same has been 

provided/Installed at the said Institution. 

One Gynaeclogist has already been posted 

in SDH Tral. As regards Peadtrician the 

issue has been taken with higher 

authorities.

MLA Pulwama: 

1- Construction of Additional Residential 

quarter for Doctors and Para-Medical staff at 

DH Pulwama. 

2- Opening of Hospital for women . 

3- Opening of Ayervedic Hospital. 

4- Up-Gradation of PHC Litter to the level of 

SDH. 

5- Up-Gradation of PHC Gulzarpora, Newa, 

Nainbatpora, Wasoora, Parigam, Panzgam to 

the level of SDH. 

6- Opening /Sanction of Health centres at 

Shaltaokena, Ladermud, Kutibough, Nownegri, 

Rakhlitter. 

7- Creation of Medical Block for Litter. 

8- Creation of posts of Doctor/Para-Medical 

Staff and Executive Staff, as are required in 

Distt. Hospital. 

9- Ambulance be provided for PHC Koil, 

Ratnipora & Banderpora. 

10- Lady Doctors and Dental Surgeons be 

provided at PHC Litter, Gulzarpora, 

Nainbatpora, Wasoora, Panzgam. 

1- The Issue will be taken-up with the higher 

authorities . 

2- The Maternity wing (pertaining to women) 

is already functional in DH Pulwama . 

Deliveries/Surgeries are being conducted in the 

Hospital. At present we are in need of two 

more Gynecologist preferably females. 

However, regarding opening of women 

Hospital the issue will be taken with higher 

authorities. 

3- Pertaining to Deptt. of Indian System of 

Medicines Department. 

4- Proposal for up-gradation of PHC Litter to 

the level of SDH has already been submitted to 

the Government , however sanctioned is 

awaited. 

5- Proposal for Up-Gradation of PHC Litter to 

the level of CHC has already been submitted, 

however rest of the Institutions are not feasible 

for Up-Gradation to CHC as per the norms. 

6- In Village Shaltokena the Sub-Centre is 

already exsisting. However the proposal for 

creation of Sub-Centre at Ladermud, 

Kutibough, Nownegri, Rakhlitter which are 

established under internal arrangement have 

been submitted to Government. Sanctioned is 

however awaited. 

7- PHC Litter is only 09 Km’s away from 

Medical Block Tahab(Pulwama) and is not 

feasible as per the norms for creation of 

Medical Block. 

8- Sanctioned posts of Doctors/ Para-Medical 

Staff at District Hospital Pulwama are filled, 

however additional requirement for 

doctors/Para-Medicals have already been 

submitted to Director Health Services Kashmir. 

9- Koil, Ratnipora & Banderpora are 

functioning as Sub-Centres and proposal for 

Up-Gradation to the level of PHC has already 

been submitted . Sanction is still awaited. 

Ambulance will be provided after 

establishment of PHC’s in the said Village. 

10- Dental Surgeons have already been posted 

at PHC’s Litter, Gulzarpora, wasoora, 

Panzgam. Lady doctors will be provided as 

and when appointed by the competent 

authority.
