CECO declares purchase options on three
chemical tankers
By Jens Grønning, Managing Director Eitzen Chemical A/S
The chemical tanker market is firm - second hand prices,
new-building prices and freight rates are higher than they
have been for years, hence Camillo Eitzen & Co has, in lieu
of these favourable market conditions, declared purchase
options and taken over the following three epoxy coated
units:
M/T "SICHEM PADUA" - Built at Hyundai, Korea
in 1993 - 9,200 DWT - Ice-Class 1 A
M/T "SICHEM PANDORA" - sister to above
vessel, built in 1994 and
M/T "SICHEM PRINCESS MARIE-CHANTAL" -
Built at Nok-Bong, Korea in 2003 - 8,000 DWT
M/T "SICHEM PRINCESS MARIE-CHANTAL" was
taken over from her Greek owner at the end of 2004,
whereas M/T "SICHEM PADUA" and M/T "SICHEM
PANDORA" was taken over from Harren & Partner
Schiffahrt GmbH, Germany, on 24th February 2005.
M/T "SICHEM PADUA" and M/T "SICHEM PANDO-
RA" are flying Singapore flag, whereas M/T "SICHEM
PRINCESS MARIE-CHANTAL" is forthwith flying
Panama flag. All three vessels are technically managed by
TESMA, and commercially by Eitzen Chemical A/S in
Denmark. As three ships represents an important part of
our epoxy coated fleet, we are consequently very pleased to
have taken full control of these units.
Steel cutting
By Arent Skjoldborg, Operation Manager
Eitzen Chemical A/S
The day after the name giving of the SICHEM
COPENHAGEN 26th April 2005 I had the
pleasure to represent Eitzen Chemical A/S at
the Steel Cutting Ceremony for new building
CSN 212. The ceremony took place on the
yard 21st Century Shipbuilding Co. Ltd.
The cutting was done by a plasma cutter and I
was in full control of the cutter machine. After
the cutting the yard invited the two site managers
from Bery Maritime and myself to a nice
lunch of raw fish and shells.
