SOFC single cells<br />

In order to bring you the best solution in SOFC single cell market, we have set high standards, which our products must meet.<br />

As a proof of our work, we have received ISO certificates according to quality control (IS0 9001:2008) and environmental<br />

management standard (ISO 14001:2004).<br />

Single cell standard<br />

electrochemical performance<br />

As a part of our quality control system, we execute regular cell tests at VTT<br />

testing facilities in Finland who is well-known, objective and trusted service<br />

provider. In the following typical plots for performance and durability are given.<br />

Synthetic reformate in single cell tests had the composition of 15% CH4, 26%<br />

CO2, 29% H2 and 30% H2O.<br />

SOFC stack<br />

Elcogen is manufacturing solid oxide fuel cell stacks and has started first deliveries to customers. Current version of the<br />

stack available for deliveries is rated for 500 W. It is based on 30 Elcogen ASC-10B cells, metallic interconnects and glass<br />

based sealants. Stack has excellent electrical performance between 600 – 700 °C with ASR measured to be 0.5 Ohm/cm 2<br />

(at 650°C, Uf = 46 %). Reduced operating temperature enables the use of low cost materials with good long term stability.<br />

Reduced operating temperature also enables major cost reduction in BoP components such as for air recuperator and heat<br />

insulation. Elcogen is introducing stack for 1 kW systems during 2013. Stack will be based on similar material system as<br />

the current 500 W stack.<br />

Production facilities<br />

Our small-series production facility has been set up in Tallinn, Estonia. We have paste manufacturing laboratory, all necessary<br />

tape-cast, screen-print, firing and quality control machinery. Our SOFC single cell technology is designed in a way that<br />

it is easily scalable to larger output quantities. Our cells are produced entirely in-house starting from powders.<br />
