Business Development:
1. A forum was held for BID members and downtown business owners on March 20 th .
2. First and second quarter report is being sent with the special meeting notice to all BID
members. After this mailing, the quarterly report will go out via email to those who sign up on
the BID email list. This was stated in a previous mailing and unfortunately we had problems
with the new email box. It is up and running so please send your email address to
bid@cityofbaraboo.com if you would like to be included on that list.
3. BID, in conjunction with DBI held a Social Media Workshop on June 25 th . Dennis Deery,
Owner of Irish Rose Consulting was the main presenter. BID/DBI panel consisted of:
Mary Hultman, Raven House; Jessica Elsing, The Green Vine and Nicole Marklein Bacher &
Ben Letendre, Cross, Jenks, Mercer & Maffei. Approximately 25 business owners were in
attendance and learned how social media can be used to improve their businesses.
4. Discussions have begun with The Wisconsin Historical Society about the downtown becoming
a Historic District. There are many advantages to this happening. Federal tax credits would be
available for those wanting to renovate their buildings. A sign would be placed on the by-pass
that would designate Downtown as a Historic District. These are just a couple of the benefits.
A public forum will be held on Monday, July 22 at 5:00 pm at the Civic Center to discuss
further. (See attached meeting notice)
Respectfully submitted by:
