ETHERNET ACCESS Platform

ETHERNET ACCESS OVER PDH
The FLASHWAVE ® 9420 Ethernet access platform delivers intelligent Ethernet services over bonded PDH
circuits via Generic Framing Protocol (GFP) or X.86. Its unique demarcation function enables carriers to provide
differentiated, profitable Ethernet services to customer premises over existing TDM facilities.
Supporting up to eight bonded T1/E1s or two bonded DS3s, the FLASHWAVE 9420 platform enables delivery of
Ethernet services up to 16 Mbps or 89 Mbps respectively. It employs the latest Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme
and Virtual Concatenation (LCAS/VCAT) bonding for interoperability with a wide range of optical networking
aggregation platforms and industry-standard switches or routers.
Supports MEF-Based Ethernet Services
The FLASHWAVE 9420 platform supports Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-based services such as EPL, E-LAN
and E-tree, both for on-net and off-net applications. Low-touch provisioning allows for simplified installation
and remote service turn-up. The FLASHWAVE 9420 platform includes remote Operations, Administration and
Maintenance (OAM) capabilities designed to provide remote visibility into Service Level Agreement (SLA)
conformance. It also provides in-service measurement of Ethernet frame delay, delay variation, dropped frames
and service availability.
With three RJ45 Ethernet service ports and one selectable SFP socket for either copper or optical handoffs, the
platform can support multiple customers or multiple services over a bonded T1/E1 WAN uplink. This platform is
ideal for enabling Internet access, private line, VoIP, video and other business services.
