C. Appointment – Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction<br />

WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the <strong>Valley</strong> <strong>Stream</strong> Union Free School<br />

<strong>District</strong> No. <strong>30</strong> has appointed Gerard Poole to the position of Assistant to the<br />

Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and has granted Mr. Poole tenure in<br />

such position; and<br />

WHEREAS, upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, the Board of<br />

Education seeks to promote Mr. Poole to the position of Assistant Superintendent for<br />

Curriculum and Instruction without loss of tenure or seniority; and<br />

WHEREAS, the Board also seeks to increase Mr. Poole’s salary to reflect the additional<br />

status and responsibilities of his new position.<br />

IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that effective September 1, <strong>2012</strong>, Gerald Poole’s<br />

appointment as an employee in the <strong>Valley</strong> <strong>Stream</strong> Union Free School <strong>District</strong> No. <strong>30</strong><br />

shall be and hereby is amended to reflect the title of “Assistant Superintendent for<br />

Curriculum and Instruction”; and<br />

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, Mr. Poole shall serve in the position of Assistant<br />

Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction with tenure and his seniority in such<br />

title shall date back to his original date of hire with the <strong>District</strong>; and<br />

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Mr. Poole’s duties and responsibilities as<br />

Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction shall be consistent with a job<br />

description dated September 1, <strong>2012</strong> as recommended by the Superintendent of Schools<br />

which is hereby adopted by the Board of Education with the <strong>District</strong> Clerk to attach a<br />

copy of such job description to the minutes of this meeting; and<br />

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the terms and conditions of employment for Mr.<br />

Poole as set forth in a letter to him from the Superintendent dated June 22, <strong>2012</strong>, as<br />

approved by the Board of Education at its meeting on June 25, <strong>2012</strong>, is hereby amended<br />

effective September 1, <strong>2012</strong>, to reflect an increased annual base salary of $142,000.00.<br />

D. Retroactive Appointment – Extended School Year Special Education Program<br />

Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, will the Board of Education<br />

approve the retroactive appointment Kim Jones Sands as a Substitute Special Education<br />

Teacher on an as needed basis in the <strong>District</strong>’s Extended School Year Summer School<br />

Program for July/<strong>August</strong> <strong>2012</strong>, at the rate set at $44 per hour?<br />

C. Appointment – Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction<br />

WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the <strong>Valley</strong> <strong>Stream</strong> Union Free School<br />

<strong>District</strong> No. <strong>30</strong> has appointed Gerard Poole to the position of Assistant to the<br />

Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and has granted Mr. Poole tenure in<br />

such position; and<br />

WHEREAS, upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, the Board of<br />

Education seeks to promote Mr. Poole to the position of Assistant Superintendent for<br />

Curriculum and Instruction without loss of tenure or seniority; and<br />

WHEREAS, the Board also seeks to increase Mr. Poole’s salary to reflect the additional<br />

status and responsibilities of his new position.<br />

IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that effective September 1, <strong>2012</strong>, Gerald Poole’s<br />

appointment as an employee in the <strong>Valley</strong> <strong>Stream</strong> Union Free School <strong>District</strong> No. <strong>30</strong><br />

shall be and hereby is amended to reflect the title of “Assistant Superintendent for<br />

Curriculum and Instruction”; and<br />

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, Mr. Poole shall serve in the position of Assistant<br />

Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction with tenure and his seniority in such<br />

title shall date back to his original date of hire with the <strong>District</strong>; and<br />

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Mr. Poole’s duties and responsibilities as<br />

Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction shall be consistent with a job<br />

description dated September 1, <strong>2012</strong> as recommended by the Superintendent of Schools<br />

which is hereby adopted by the Board of Education with the <strong>District</strong> Clerk to attach a<br />

copy of such job description to the minutes of this meeting; and<br />

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the terms and conditions of employment for Mr.<br />

Poole as set forth in a letter to him from the Superintendent dated June 22, <strong>2012</strong>, as<br />

approved by the Board of Education at its meeting on June 25, <strong>2012</strong>, is hereby amended<br />

effective September 1, <strong>2012</strong>, to reflect an increased annual base salary of $142,000.00.<br />
