<strong>Rules</strong> & <strong>Regulations</strong><br />

1. Competition<br />

The competition is open to alumni, staff, students and friends <strong>of</strong> the National University <strong>of</strong> Singapore and<br />

its predecessor institutions. It shall consist <strong>of</strong> a single round <strong>of</strong> 18 holes Stableford in accordance with<br />

the <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>of</strong> Golf as approved by the R&A and the USGA and the local rules <strong>of</strong> Raffles Country Club. The<br />

tournament is open to all golfers with recognized <strong>of</strong>ficial handicap. Friends <strong>of</strong> alumni and the university<br />

are most welcome to participate in the tournament.<br />

2. Handicaps<br />

Competitors shall declare their current lowest handicap index on the day <strong>of</strong> play to a maximum <strong>of</strong> 24 for<br />

men and 36 for ladies. Competitors are fully responsible for the accuracy <strong>of</strong> handicap used for the<br />

competition. This tournament’s score will be computed based on 80% <strong>of</strong> course handicap index.<br />

3. Divisions<br />

There shall be 4 divisions: ‘A’ Division (Handicap Index 0 ‐ 15.9)<br />

‘B’ Division (Handicap Index 16 ‐ 21.9)<br />

‘C’ Division (Handicap Index 22 - 24)<br />

‘Ladies’ Division (Handicap Index 0 ‐ 36)<br />

The above classification is subject to amendment based on the number <strong>of</strong> participants in each division.<br />

4. Playing Tees<br />

Male competitors are to tee‐<strong>of</strong>f from the WHITE tee box and the ladies from the RED tee box.<br />

5. Registration<br />

Participants shall play in the order <strong>of</strong> the draw. Late comers shall be disqualified. No substitution and no<br />

mutual interchange <strong>of</strong> flights shall be permitted after the draw has been made except by authority <strong>of</strong><br />

Tournament Director. Please report to the Buggy Bay at 12.45pm. The starter shall have sole authority<br />

on the tee.<br />

6. Cancellation<br />

In the event <strong>of</strong> any cancellation by the participants, the participants are required to inform the <strong>NUS</strong> <strong>Office</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Alumni</strong> <strong>Relations</strong> by 17 October 2012 (Wednesday), 5.00pm, after which no refund will be entertained.<br />

7. Scorecards<br />

Please submit your scorecard with gross score per hole duly signed upon completion <strong>of</strong> your round to<br />

the tournament <strong>of</strong>ficials on site. Scorecards must be exchanged (player and marker) before<br />

commencement <strong>of</strong> the tournament. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. Each player will be<br />

responsible for the accuracy <strong>of</strong> scorecard submitted.<br />

8. Inclement Weather<br />

In the event <strong>of</strong> inclement weather, whereby 50% <strong>of</strong> each division is unable to complete their round, the<br />

competition for the respective division shall be cancelled. The prizes for the division concerned shall be<br />

given away by means <strong>of</strong> lucky draw at the dinner. Overall winners will only be awarded if 80% <strong>of</strong> total<br />

participants (all divisions) have completed their rounds.<br />

9. Speed‐Up Play<br />

As this is a Stableford Competition, players must play without delay. If you are out <strong>of</strong> contention for<br />

points at a particular hole, please pick up your ball and proceed to the next tee. Putts within putter<br />

length can be considered ‘gimme’ and picked up with the addition <strong>of</strong> one stroke. There will be<br />

about 144 participants taking part in the competition; therefore your cooperation is greatly appreciated.<br />

10. Golf Etiquette<br />

Please observe proper golf etiquette during play. Participants are reminded to replace divots, repair ball<br />

marks and rake sand bunkers.<br />

11. Tournament Committee’s Decision<br />

All appeals, disputes and complaints shall be referred immediately to the Tournament Committee whose<br />

decision shall be final.<br />

12. Trophies/Prizes<br />

In addition to individual prizes in the respective divisions, the best overall golfer among the alumni, staff<br />

and student will be awarded the Chancellor’s Challenge Trophy. There will also be an inter‐faculty<br />

/alumni competition, whereby the champion team will be awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Challenge<br />

Trophy. The best four scores from each faculty will determine the winner. The overall student champion<br />

golfer will be awarded the Deputy Vice‐Chancellor’s Challenge Trophy. The Captain’s Challenge Trophy<br />

will be awarded to the lady golfer with the best score among the lady golfers. Novelty prizes will also be<br />

awarded. There will be no multiple prize winners.<br />

13. Prize Presentation Dinner<br />

The Prize Presentation dinner will be held on the same day at 7.00pm for pre‐dinner cocktails and<br />

7.30pm for dinner at the <strong>NUS</strong>S, Kent Ridge Guild House. Spouses and Guests are welcomed at $50.00<br />

per head inclusive <strong>of</strong> dinner and drinks.<br />

14. Further Information<br />

All golfers are responsible for their own insurance coverage. The Organising Committee will not be liable<br />

for any injury or loss incurred by the participants during the competition.<br />
