Rules & Regulations
1. Competition
The competition is open to alumni, staff, students and friends of the National University of Singapore and
its predecessor institutions. It shall consist of a single round of 18 holes Stableford in accordance with
the Rules of Golf as approved by the R&A and the USGA and the local rules of Raffles Country Club. The
tournament is open to all golfers with recognized official handicap. Friends of alumni and the university
are most welcome to participate in the tournament.
2. Handicaps
Competitors shall declare their current lowest handicap index on the day of play to a maximum of 24 for
men and 36 for ladies. Competitors are fully responsible for the accuracy of handicap used for the
competition. This tournament’s score will be computed based on 80% of course handicap index.
3. Divisions
There shall be 4 divisions: ‘A’ Division (Handicap Index 0 ‐ 15.9)
‘B’ Division (Handicap Index 16 ‐ 21.9)
‘C’ Division (Handicap Index 22 - 24)
‘Ladies’ Division (Handicap Index 0 ‐ 36)
The above classification is subject to amendment based on the number of participants in each division.
4. Playing Tees
Male competitors are to tee‐off from the WHITE tee box and the ladies from the RED tee box.
5. Registration
Participants shall play in the order of the draw. Late comers shall be disqualified. No substitution and no
mutual interchange of flights shall be permitted after the draw has been made except by authority of
Tournament Director. Please report to the Buggy Bay at 12.45pm. The starter shall have sole authority
on the tee.
6. Cancellation
In the event of any cancellation by the participants, the participants are required to inform the NUS Office
of Alumni Relations by 17 October 2012 (Wednesday), 5.00pm, after which no refund will be entertained.
7. Scorecards
Please submit your scorecard with gross score per hole duly signed upon completion of your round to
the tournament officials on site. Scorecards must be exchanged (player and marker) before
commencement of the tournament. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. Each player will be
responsible for the accuracy of scorecard submitted.
8. Inclement Weather
In the event of inclement weather, whereby 50% of each division is unable to complete their round, the
competition for the respective division shall be cancelled. The prizes for the division concerned shall be
given away by means of lucky draw at the dinner. Overall winners will only be awarded if 80% of total
participants (all divisions) have completed their rounds.

9. Speed‐Up Play
As this is a Stableford Competition, players must play without delay. If you are out of contention for
points at a particular hole, please pick up your ball and proceed to the next tee. Putts within putter
length can be considered ‘gimme’ and picked up with the addition of one stroke. There will be
about 144 participants taking part in the competition; therefore your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
10. Golf Etiquette
Please observe proper golf etiquette during play. Participants are reminded to replace divots, repair ball
marks and rake sand bunkers.
11. Tournament Committee’s Decision
All appeals, disputes and complaints shall be referred immediately to the Tournament Committee whose
decision shall be final.
12. Trophies/Prizes
In addition to individual prizes in the respective divisions, the best overall golfer among the alumni, staff
and student will be awarded the Chancellor’s Challenge Trophy. There will also be an inter‐faculty
/alumni competition, whereby the champion team will be awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Challenge
Trophy. The best four scores from each faculty will determine the winner. The overall student champion
golfer will be awarded the Deputy Vice‐Chancellor’s Challenge Trophy. The Captain’s Challenge Trophy
will be awarded to the lady golfer with the best score among the lady golfers. Novelty prizes will also be
awarded. There will be no multiple prize winners.
13. Prize Presentation Dinner
The Prize Presentation dinner will be held on the same day at 7.00pm for pre‐dinner cocktails and
7.30pm for dinner at the NUSS, Kent Ridge Guild House. Spouses and Guests are welcomed at $50.00
per head inclusive of dinner and drinks.
14. Further Information
All golfers are responsible for their own insurance coverage. The Organising Committee will not be liable
for any injury or loss incurred by the participants during the competition.
