Nice History
1993
1995
2003
2005
The first transmitters:
very Nice!
With Nice, transmitters become
an object to show: functional
and powerful, but miniaturized
and elegant. The transmitter itself,
shown in the car or attached to
the key ring, becomes the Nice
fi rst way of communication which
rouses an immediate request
through the most powerful media:
the word-of-mouth.
Handy design: effortless
and with just one hand.
In its fi rst generation of motors
Nice conceives unlocking
mechanisms made of simple
keys, easy to activate with just
one hand. There will no longer
be any waiting under the rain,
physical effort or painstaking
research for a key which cannot
be found, while getting into the
house with your hands full of
shopping bags or while carrying
a baby.
BUS systems:
much more simplicity.
Nice puts on the market
the Nice BlueBUS system
which changes the concept of
automation by making installation
really easy and quick: nothing
but two wires now connect all
system devices, which can
be later amplifi ed with the same
simplicity.
The absence of polarity
and the clamps identifi ed
by the serigraphies, make
the connection even easier
and really error-free.
The modular control:
choice and rationality.
Nice goes beyond the idea
of fi nished products introducing
the concept of modularity:
a wide product range available
without the problem of the
warehouse management.
Unique parts, composed
in a different way, generate
a wide range of “custom-made”
solutions: it is the innovative
technology of the NiceWay
transmitters.
PC and PDA.
Solemyo: energy in nature!
With Nice, solar power now
allows to “move” automations
even far away from the electrical
loads, avoiding the inconvenience
of expensive masonry or unsightly
wiring ducts for the control wires.
The benefi ts for shutters
Intelligent motors require
the activation thresholds intelligently
in the presence of obstacles
or obstructions.
obstacle detection
technology
More safety for everyone!
The intelligent motor protects itself,
the shutter and any other objects
left inadvertently on the windowsill
or edge of the window.
Due to the exclusive obstacle detection
technology, the control unit stops the
shutter and activates a brief inversion
of movement, thus enabling removal
of the obstacle and repetition of the
movement command without damage.
Perfect movement even
in the presence
of minor fiction
Max motors improve their
performance over time, in proportion
to the number of manoeuvres
performed.
Continuous monitoring of force during
movement guarantees the integrity of the
rolling shutter as well as reliable and precise
movement even in the event of ice,
rust or similar obstructions and avoids
accidental inversions.
Maximum precision
Encoder technology guarantees millimetric
precision, reliability and maintenance
of set values over time.
1. Manual mode: in the case of shutters
not equipped with mechanical stops,
the limit positions can be memorised
by means of manual programming
of the ascent and descent positions.
2. Semi-automatic mode: in the case
of shutters equipped with mechanical
stops only on ascent or anti-intrusion
springs only on descent.
The complete absence of constraints
in the sequence of programming
operations makes this procedure ideal
for meeting the diverse requirements
of production and installation.
For example, in the case of mechanical
stops on opening, the ascent travel limit
positions can be programmed quickly
in advance at the factory during
the assembly phase, after which the shutter
descent limit can be programmed simply
by means of a manual procedure
at the client’s premises.
3. Automatic mode: in the case
of shutters equipped with mechanical
stops on opening and anti-intrusion
springs on closing, a self-learning
procedure enables detection of the
up and down travel limit positions.
Selection guide
Tubular motors for rolling awnings
Nice provides this simple guide
to establish:
• the ideal torque
in Nm to manoeuvre each individual
automation in complete safety;
• the specific characteristics
of the tubular motors (diameter, type
of stop regulation, presence of control unit,
radio receiver, encoder, emergency
override mechanism).
The information required before
proceeding is:
a. diameter of the roller
used for winding (mm)
b. the awning extension distance (m)
c. number of arms in the structure
1. Which torque?
Identify the table area corresponding
to the roller diameter.
Cross-reference the values of extension
and number of arms to obtain the torque value
required and enable selection of the most
suitable Nice series.
Complete and intuitive programming
Just a few simple actions are required to adjust
the electronic limit switch from the pushbutton
panel with no need to open the box.
Three programming modes, guided with
simple visual signals: automatic,
semiautomatic, manual.
Maximum shutter stop precision at the up
and down travel limits due to the dynamic
auto-update of travel limits (automatic and
semiautomatic modes). This reads the
programmed position parameters to compensate
over time for any expansion or shrinkage of the
structure due to wear or temperature variations.
Option of pre-programming the limit switch
(up or down) in the factory during assembly.
Possibility of pre-programming the limit switch
(up or down) in the factory during the assembly
stage: this makes for simple installation on-site
as it is suffi cient to confi gure the remaining limit
switch (up or down).
Perfect movement even in the presence
of minor friction
In the presence of ice, dust or obstructions,
the manoeuvre command can simply be
repeated to reset the threshold parameters
so as to gradually increase the power delivered
and complete the movement.
Maximum precision
Encoder technology guarantees millimetric
precision, reliability and maintenance of set
values over time, closure movement and optimal
and constant force on the shutter at all times.
Compact and flexible
Reliable in every situation: For-Max A controls
and monitors the force required during the entire
movement of the shutter according to climatic
and environmental conditions.
Complete and intuitive programming
Convenient remote control of limit switches
by means of transmitter from wall switch
or TTP or TTI programmers without the need
to open the box.
Three programming modes, guided
with simple visual signals: automatic,
semiautomatic, manual.
Maximum shutter stop precision at the
up and down travel limits due to the dynamic
auto-update of travel limits (automatic
and semiautomatic modes). This reads
the programmed position parameters
to compensate over time for any expansion
or shrinkage of the structure due to wear
or temperature variations.
Option of pre-programming the limit switch
(up or down) in the factory during assembly.
Easily memorises transmitters
without having to connect or gain access to the
motor. New transmitter codes can be remotely
entered after the fi rst has been memorised.
Simple programming of radio control in 2 modes:
I (standard);
II (step-by-step by means of a single key).
Memory block to prevent accidental
memorisation of incorrect transmitters.
Connection to the weather sensors
One sensor can control up to 5 motors
connected in parallel.
5 wind-sun levels can be set directly
from the transmitter or from the TTP or TTI
palm-top programmers.
Perfect movement even in the presence
of minor friction
In the presence of ice, dust or obstructions,
the manoeuvre command can simply be
repeated to reset the threshold parameters
so as to gradually increase the power delivered
and complete the movement.
Maximum precision
Encoder technology guarantees millimetric
precision, reliability and maintenance
of set values over time.
life: thanks to the encoder system,
the limit switches are automatically
adapted with no forcing on the springs
or against the stops, guaranteeing
a long shutter lifetime and no clatter.
Exclusive Nice Smart-Memo
function: recognises any Nice
transmitter as “testing transmitter”
during installation, with no need to perform the
memorisation procedure; to clear the memory,
just disconnect the gearmotor.
Allows “hold-to-run” operating modes
and use of the automatic limit switch position
search, permitting control even during
installation.
Simple transmitter memorisation procedure,
taking just 3 second: to memorise
the transmitter, just press the Up and Down
buttons together for 3 sec.; the gearmotor
performs a special movement to confi rm
the success of the procedure.
Let’s go... Nice will take care of the house
“We’re going out... You close the downstairs shutters...
Pull the mosquito nets down in the bedrooms...
pull in the awnings... Ok, Nice...!”
It is possible to easily and effortlessly control
all the automation systems throughout the home!
And without wasting precious time! Here are a few
examples of what can be gained with the “Group”
and “Multiple group” technology.
What is a “Group”?
A “Group” is a uniform series of automation
units operating together; for example, all the
awnings of a living room (shown in orange
in the example). Other groups may comprise
the awnings or roller shutters of each room.
all the previously created groups (1=living room
it will be possible to activate all the automations
from just one control device.
The NiceWay Sensor is also ideal for increasing
the thermal effi ciency of the house,
reducing the effects of sunlight in hot climates
and taking maximum advantage of it in cold
climates so as to assure energy savings
and reductions in polluting emissions.
The NiceWay Sensor measures the lighting
condition while ignoring peak values caused
for example by people’s shadows or rapidly
moving clouds.
The NiceWay Sensor is able to control
the opening of shutters and sun awnings
so as to maintain the level of sunlight or ambient
lighting within the desired limits. It automatically
sends closure commands if the light is too strong
or opening commands if the light is too weak.
The WMS01ST model can regulate ambient
temperature by controlling the movement
of the automation on the basis of the temperature
value measured in the room.
Extremely simple to program and use:
128x49 px graphic display with intuitive
icon menu and 5 selectable languages
by displaying the measured and set values.
Operating modes
Window-mounting: the sensor positioned
on the window measures light only via the rear
detector, which is oriented towards the outside,
automatically controlling the opening/closure
movements of the screening device,
or only closure.
Wall or stand-on installation inside room:
the sensor positioned inside the room detects
the luminosity only on the front, therefore
considering the effective lighting including
artifi cial light. This allows it to give commands
when direct light arrives at or leaves the area
inside the room in which it is positioned.
The “Demo” mode converts the reaction time
the NiceWay Sensor during the confi guration
and testing stages.
Light Sensor Version
Thanks to the suction cup support, it can be stuck
on the window at a specifi c height.
The sensor detects the level of internal brightness,
compares it with the set brightness value
and automatically adjusts the shutter opening
or closing accordingly.
For instance, when the brightness exceeds
the maximum set threshold, the sensor lowers
the automations (awnings or shutters) until
the sensor is shaded. Once the sensor is
in the shade, the shutter rises until it is in the light
once more, enabling it to keep monitoring
the brightness level.
Alphabetical index Control systems and accessories Tubular motors
Light + Temperature Sensor Version
The required room temperature can be set
and maintained using the heat and light supplied
by the sun.
For example, in winter mode, if the temperature
falls below the set threshold and outside
it is sunny, the sensor automatically raises
the shutters or awnings, allowing the light
to enter to provide warmth, and vice-versa.
INB, the Nice control interface
that enables communication
between the systems Nice Bus
(TTBus and BusT4) and MyHome
of BTicino (SCS).
Nice gives life to a unique home automation
system, able to dialogue with all devices
that control household functions, enabling,
via simple pushbuttons or latest generation
BTicino touch screens:
• control of up to four Nice automations
for gates and garage doors with motors
and/or control units fi tted with BusT4
technology, or awnings and shutters
with tubular motors fi tted with TTBus
technology;
• control of lighting, heat control, sound
diffusion, security and communication.
The design for total integration guarantees:
• reduced installation times
All the Planotime functions
1. Solar: the time of sunrise and sunset changes
during the year: how is it possible to wake up always
with the same light in the room, lower the shutters
or roll up the awnings at sunset at the actual time
that the sun goes down, without having to reprogram
the event according to the changing seasons?
Planotime automatically regulates at the changing
time of sunrise and sunset by simply inserting
the latitude when you fi rst program the unit!
2. Random: it opens and closes the shutters
at random within a pre-establish time range to make it
appear that someone is at home when you are absent,
thus discouraging break-in attempts.
3. Open partially: allows you to partially open
or close the rolling shutter simply by setting
the opening time so as to always have the right light.
4. MemoGroup: allows you to simultaneously control
up to 6 independent automation units, to switch
on multiple motors and enable different functions
to be associated to them; for instance, activation
of the “Solar” function for the bedroom shutters only
and of the “Random” function for the shutters facing
the street.
5. Easy program: makes it extremely easy to program
a large number of events; the system keeps a log
of the operations activated by the user in the course
of a week, and then repeats them in automatic mode
in the following weeks!
6. NiceTime: is used to interrupt the automatic
cycle and switch to manual mode for the period
of time programmed by the user.
For example, in order to clean the windows you can
program the system to suspend the performance
of all the established automatic operations
and switch to manual mode for a set period of time.
When this time elapses, the system will switch
back to the programmed cycle.
7. Sun ON/OFF: enables/disables the sun
and rain sensor, allowing you to establish
which automations connected to the anemometer
should react to changes in the sunlight.
This function is also featured in the Plano 4
wall-mounted controls, in the Ergo 4 portable
transmitters and in the NiceWay series.
