What is V/Line Life Training?
V/Line
Life Training
A lifeskills program for
young people
V/Line Life Training is an education and motivational program for
young people aged 14-18 years. It encourages Victorian youth to
‘stay true’ to themselves, their values, and their goals. Every year,
more than 20 Life Training sessions are held throughout country
Victoria, and in the past five years more than 10,000 teenagers
have gone through the program.
What do participants learn?
The program focuses on life skills that are important for positive
development, such as; goal setting, identifying support networks,
and most importantly the true impact and consequences of the
choices made in life.
In the sessions, young people are given the tools
and knowledge to help them make informed
decisions when confronted by common societal
issues such as depression, low self-esteem &
body image, bullying, and alcohol &
drug abuse.
Where are the sessions?
Life Training sessions are held across country Victoria.
Can anyone attend?
Sessions are open to boys and
girls, aged 14-18, and their
parents or guardians.
Can I host a session in my community?
All country Victorian communities, clubs and schools can
register to host a Life Training session.
The process is simple, just visit vline.com.au/lifetraining and
register your interest. We’ll contact you with more information.
There are no fees associated to hosting a session, but the
host agrees to provide the venue and light refreshments for
the attendees.
Our ambassadors
The Life Training ambassadors are elite sporting heroes that
young people, and adults, look up too. They bring the sessions to
life by telling stories about their own experiences, their pathways
and how they achieved their goals.
They discuss challenges commonly faced by young people
growing up in the country, and how to ‘stay true’ to themselves
and achieve their goals.
Our partners
Life Training’s partners bring a wealth of knowledge to the
program and ensure all information is delivered accurately,
professionally and responsibly.
Our partners include:
• Odyssey House Victoria
• The Butterfly Foundation
• Orygen Youth Health
• The Australian Drug Foundation
Why does V/Line run this program?
““This lesson made me realise how to set my goals.
I now believe that I can complete my goals after listening
to Nathan’s story. He was truly inspiring to listen to.”
Allan, 17, Briagalong
“V/Line training is a must for all clubs to help educate
their juniors.
One life lost is one too many so support this for your
local community’s benefit.”
Martin, Avenel
“Our students participated very positively, it was great to
see them volunteering responses.”
Michelle, Ouyen
“
“We can recommend this to all Football & Netball
Leagues, and hope that our young people gain enough to
make better decisions about themselves in the future.”
Pauline, North Gippsland Football League
We recognise and value the role we play in linking regional
communities. Our staff live in your community and we understand
how hard it can be for kids to access information and services to
support them in understanding and dealing with the challenges
they face.
Our front line staff witness first hand the anti-social behaviours
associated with binge drinking and illicit drugs. These issues,
along with low self-esteem, bullying and depression can easily
impact young country Victorians as they grow up.
V/Line Life Training aims to bridge this gap!
