Daily Highlights Sept 17 Millennium (Fri): Board Continental Flight to Vancouver, where we will board Celebrity Sept 18 (Sat): Nanaimo, British Columbia - Nanaimo graces Vancouver Island with pristine and peaceful beauty. We can take a step back in time with a stroll through the Old City, Downtown and Harborfront or take a ferry across to Newcastle Provincial Marine Park for a relaxing day of wildlife watching. An excursion is also available to Cowichan Valley (which means Land of the Sun), where the climate is ideal for grape varieties and orchards. Visits to two vineyards are included in the excursion: one with Italian influence and one with West Coast Style – plus a visit to a cidery that specializes in organic English Style Cider. Some may want to enjoy the experience a diving adventure on the world's largest artificial reef and find out why Jacques Cousteau named Vancouver Island's waters the Emerald Sea. Sept 19 (Sun): Victoria – This picturesque city and one-time British colony has retained much of its colonial splendor. Victoria is a seaside enclave that enjoys a temperate climate and abounds with museums, parks and golf courses. We can easily explore the beautiful waterfront area and many of these attractions on our own. Excursions are also available to the famous Buchart Gardens, a nearby 55-acre display garden where we will be able stroll through the Sunken Garden, the Japanese and Italian Gardens and the English Rose Garden and view Ross Fountain. Green lawns, streams and lily ponds link them all. One Buchart Gardens excursion offers an add-on visit to one of Victoria's finest wineries which specializes in the pairing of wine with chocolate. Sept 20 (Mon): Seattle, Washington – The Emerald City combines spectacular natural beauty and cosmopolitan flair like few places on earth. An outdoor and coffee mecca, Seattle also offers up some of the best seafood anywhere along the Pacific Rim. Named after the great chief of the Suquamish Indians, Seattle enjoys a fusion of American, Asian and Native American cultures unlikely to be found anywhere else. Wine-aficionados can choose an excursion to the Woodinville Wine Country, for a visit the world famous Columbia Winery and Château Ste Michelle. Another excursion option includes an informative introduction to Seattle's highlights before soaring to the top of the Space Needle for an unforgettable view of the Emerald City – and visiting Pike Place Market, the West Coast's oldest and largest open air farmers market. Sept 21 (Tue): At Sea – Enjoy many of the special offerings aboard Millennium during a relaxing day at sea: Enrichment lectures, Bridge instruction and duplicate play, Art exhibits and auctions, Dance lessons, Swimming plus deck games and competition.
