Daily Highlights
Sept 17
Millennium
(Fri): Board Continental Flight to Vancouver, where we will board Celebrity
Sept 18 (Sat): Nanaimo, British Columbia - Nanaimo graces
Vancouver Island with pristine and peaceful beauty. We can take a
step back in time with a stroll through the Old City, Downtown and
Harborfront or take a ferry across to Newcastle Provincial Marine Park
for a relaxing day of wildlife watching. An excursion is also available to
Cowichan Valley (which means Land of the Sun), where the climate is
ideal for grape varieties and orchards. Visits to two vineyards are
included in the excursion: one with Italian influence and one with West Coast Style – plus a
visit to a cidery that specializes in organic English Style Cider. Some may want to enjoy the
experience a diving adventure on the world's largest artificial reef and find out why Jacques
Cousteau named Vancouver Island's waters the Emerald Sea.
Sept 19 (Sun): Victoria – This picturesque city and one-time British
colony has retained much of its colonial splendor. Victoria is a
seaside enclave that enjoys a temperate climate and abounds with
museums, parks and golf courses. We can easily explore the
beautiful waterfront area and many of these attractions on our own.
Excursions are also available to the famous
Buchart Gardens, a nearby 55-acre display
garden where we will be able stroll through the Sunken Garden, the
Japanese and Italian Gardens and the English Rose Garden and view Ross
Fountain. Green lawns, streams and lily ponds link them all. One Buchart
Gardens excursion offers an add-on visit to one of Victoria's finest
wineries which specializes in the pairing of wine with chocolate.
Sept 20 (Mon): Seattle, Washington – The Emerald City combines
spectacular natural beauty and cosmopolitan flair like few places
on earth. An outdoor and coffee mecca, Seattle also offers up
some of the best seafood anywhere along the Pacific Rim. Named
after the great chief of the Suquamish Indians, Seattle enjoys a
fusion of American, Asian and Native American cultures unlikely
to be found anywhere else. Wine-aficionados can choose an
excursion to the Woodinville Wine Country, for a visit the world
famous Columbia Winery and Château Ste Michelle. Another excursion option includes an
informative introduction to Seattle's highlights before soaring to the top of the Space Needle for
an unforgettable view of the Emerald City – and visiting Pike Place Market, the West Coast's
oldest and largest open air farmers market.
Sept 21 (Tue): At Sea – Enjoy many of the special offerings aboard Millennium during a relaxing
day at sea: Enrichment lectures, Bridge instruction and duplicate play, Art exhibits and
auctions, Dance lessons, Swimming plus deck games and competition.

Sept 22 - 23 (Wed - Thu): San Francisco, California – San Francisco is the
ideal city for visitors, and during our two days in the Bay Area, we will
have the opportunity to see and enjoy many of the things for which it
is famous: from its seafood and sourdough breads to the Golden Gate
Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf and Alcatraz. Trolleys and prominent
landmarks make getting around this eclectic metropolis very easy. One
of the best views in town can be experienced
from the Coit Tower, one of the city’s most
prominent landmarks and a fine example of Art Deco architecture.
For those wishing to enjoy the California wine experience up close,
excursions to a number of wineries in Napa Valley and Sonoma are
available. Or we can select an excursion which takes us on visits to
the quaint little town of Sausalito and the redwood forest of Muir
Woods, where giant coastal redwood trees rise 250 feet or more.
Sept 24 (Fri): Monterey, California - This is one of the truly magical
places in California. Aside from its magnificent golf courses and
proximity to Fisherman's Wharf and Big Sur, Monterey boasts an
eclectic mix of shops, art galleries and restaurants, plus one of the
world's premier aquariums. Available excursions include a visit the
artist's village of Carmel followed by sightseeing along famous 17-Mile
Drive, a private road which abounds with some of the most
breathtaking ocean side vistas in California. Or we can enjoy the
dramatic beauty of the Monterey Peninsula on a tour of famous movie sites located in
Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach and Carmel-by-the-Sea. Wine enthusiasts may choose
to experience the old world Spanish charm of the historic Carmel Mission and enjoy a wine
tasting at Chateau Julien Wine Estate.
Sept 25 (Sat): At Sea – Another relaxing day at sea to enjoy the many shipboard activities and
amenities.
Sept 26 (Sun): Catalina Island, California - Only twenty miles off the
coast of Los Angeles, this throwback to a more genteel era is a
favorite playground of the boat set. Catalina is the West Coast's
answer to Martha's Vineyard with its quaint boutiques and eateries
and its unique penchant for pleasing visitors. Inland and coastal
excursions will be available to experience many of the scenic
highlights of the Island – including Avalon Casino, a Mediterraneanstyle
structure which houses an array of 1930's Art Deco
memorabilia, a trip through Catalina’s rugged interior and a rafting adventure along
approximately 10 miles of Catalina Islands coastline to view bald eagles, harbor seals, sea
lions, red tail hawks and other Island wildlife.
Sept 27 (Mon): San Diego, California – Today we arrive in San Diego, where we will disembark
for our return flight home. As we arrive in port and travel to the airport we will get a flavor of
San Diego’s modern skyline contrasted with beautiful, Spanish-inspired architecture.
