REGISTRATION FOR THE 2013
FALL SEASON
Swatara Youth Soccer Association offers on-line
registration at www.swatarayouthsoccer.com. To
register your player, choose Registration page from the
right-side navigation, and follow the directions.
Returning players only need to confirm and update last
year’s information; new players will need to provide all
relevant information.
All payments through the web site will be by credit card
to a secure server with SSL encryption to ensure
privacy and security.
SYSA also offers walk-in registration with payment by
check or credit card at the Swatara Township Building
on Eisenhower Blvd. on Saturday, May 11 th between
9AM and 12PM or at the June Board Meeting.
New & Noteworthy
• A $10 discount applies to each additional player
registered in a family. This is new from last
year’s single discount per family model.
• As in previous years, SYSA provides a jersey
shirt, shorts, and matching socks.
All late registrations will be placed on a wait list and then
assigned to any open spots on teams. The list is first
come, first served. Late registration starts on 07/01 and
registration closes completely on 07/12. Please note
that a late registration is not a guarantee that your
child will play. Refunds will be issued for any late
registrations that are not placed on a team (this is
rare).

NEW RULES & OTHER ITEMS
About The Season & SYSA
The fall season starts the weekend following Labor Day.
U6 games are played on Sunday afternoons, U8-U12
games are played on Saturday afternoons.
SYSA is a recreational soccer club. Our goal is to
provide an environment for children to explore the game
of soccer while learning sportsmanship and teamwork.
The U6 program is internal to SYSA and is designed as
an introduction to soccer for players and to prepare
them for the older age divisions. All games are played
at Margie McNaughton Park in Chatham Glenn off 61 st
Street/Page Road in Harrisburg. Timeslots are made up
of a combined practice time and game time.
U8, U10 and U12 age divisions are part of SOLD
(Swatara, Olmstead, Lower Dauphin). Games are
played at several locations in the area - most away
fields for SYSA are less than a 20-minute drive. Teams
are provided with a practice location in the area at a
maximum of 2 nights per week (coaches can opt to
practice once a week).
Continuing the new policy from 2011, requests for
specific team placement will NOT be honored except in
extreme circumstances as deemed appropriate by the
Board.

07/15 – Teams finalized (week of)
07/23 – Rosters and practice schedules to coaches
08/01 – Mandatory coaches meeting (all ages)
08/03 – Challenger coaches clinic (time TBA)
08/03 – Field Setup (volunteers needed)
08/05 – Practice starts
09/07-09/08 – Opening day games
TEAM PICTURES
Picture day will be 09/21. Look for order forms and more
information on times and location from your coach at the
start of the season.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!
SYSA is always looking for volunteers to assist with
various activities before and during the season. If you
are interested in lending some of your time, please
contact a member of the board.
This year marks the end of several terms on the board
including President, Treasurer and Boys Director.
Please consider lending some time to the 250+ kids
that play soccer each and every year in our area. The
commitment is often not more than an hour or two per
month.
IMPORTANT SAFETY
INFORMATION
SYSA/SOLD does not allow players to play or practice
with jewelry of any kind, including, but not limited to,
earrings, bracelets, watches, necklaces, or hair beads.
The above items are dangerous to everyone on the
field. There will be no exceptions. In addition,
eyeglasses must be “sports” glasses and secured
firmly around the head. Hair can be held back with a
rubber band or “scrunchie”.
All players are REQUIRED to wear shin guards for
practice and games. There will be no exceptions.
Shin guards MUST be worn UNDER a player’s socks
and secured properly to the leg.
Cleats are NOT required, however they are
suggested. Baseball and football cleats are not
permitted due to safety concerns.
CHALLENGER SUMMER CAMP
SYSA is once again partnering with Challenger Sports
to offer a week-long camp for all ages and skill levels.
This camp is scheduled for the week before practices
start (last week of July) and is a great way for kids to
learn new skills and warm up for the season. More
details will be available at swatarasoccer.com.
Challenger also provides a Coach’s Clinic on the
Saturday following camp (08/03). This is a great
avenue for tips and ideas on running effective
practices.
