INGROUND 

The I4 Inground provides the maximum lighting capability with up to 175W of lighting 

power. The I4 offers outstanding strength through a single piece fiberglass composite with a 

color impregnated finish that won’t peel. For precise beam adjustment, the I4 is available 

with different reflector systems for use in wall washing to tree lighting, and the lamping 

module has a vertical adjustment capability of 15˚ and a horizontal adjustment of 358˚.

The superior performance of HADCO’s Inground family is due largely 

to the painstaking detail put into crafting of reflector systems. Our engineers 

have developed optical assemblies for any application, from wall washing 

to tree lighting. 

For a more diffused beam pattern with aiming flexibility, HADCO offers a 

spread lens (ISL4). This specialized lens softens the light and extends the 

beam spread closer to a horizontal plane. 

After selecting an application, refer to this page for a reflector system that 

will best achieve the desired effect.

CONCRETE INSTALLATION 

GROUND INSTALLATION 

Installation of inground fixtures requires special considerations. Proper 

drainage material and potting of internal wires are two procedures key in 

inground installation.The following are basic steps in installing inground 

fixtures using the concrete pour accessory available for each unit. For 

detailed instructions, refer to the installation sheet enclosed with each 

fixture. See page 16 for a list of concrete pour accessories for all fixtures. 

NOTE:To ensure proper drainage, prepare gravel foundation. Make 

certain that the concrete level when poured will be flush with the top of 

the conrete pour unit. 

1. Position the fixture housing into the concrete pour unit, making sure that 

the underside of the housing flange rests on top of the set screws. Tighten 

set screws on side of accessory to lock the housing into place. Secure 

assembly to the final location with re-bar and other anchoring devices. 

2. Excavate soil where the fixture is to be installed. Dig a trench 18” deep 

for conduit installation. 

3. Place assembly into hole (be sure there is a minimum of 3” of drainage 

material covering bottom of hole). 

4. Install the conduit into housing, pull wires through, or route low voltage 

cable and fill wire-way with two part epoxy (HADCO part# 10000044) 

to prevent water entry from conduit or wire-way. 

5. Place the dirt cover on the fixture to prevent gravel and concrete from 

falling into fixture housing. 

6. Fill area with a minimum of 3” of drainage material. Be sure not to 

fill area flush with top of frame and assembly. This is area to be filled 

with concrete. 

7. Pour concrete. Remember fixture position cannot be altered after 

the concrete sets! 

8. Once the concrete has set and is completely cured, remove 

dirt cover from fixture, install electrical components, install specified 

lamp and assemble gasket, lens ring and lens (and rock guard) as per 

installation instructions. 

9. Connect fixture to power source and energize. 

The following are basic steps in installing inground fixtures into soil. For detailed 

instructions, refer to the installation sheet enclosed with each fixture. 

1. Excavate soil for fixture placement and conduit runs. Allow a minimum of 3” 

around and under housing for drainage material. 

2. Remove the screws from the glass/gasket assembly and wiring compartment 

cover. connect conduit fittings to housing conduit entries utilizing a thread 

sealant, and tighten to 40 ft-lbs. max. DO NOT REMOVE the moisture 

absorbing desi-pak from inside the fixture. 

3. Connect 120V leads in wiring compartment to supply wires. Make ground 

connection.The contractor must pull ground wire or make a ground connection 

to the metal conduit system. 

4. Conduit entries must be potted to prevent water entry (3M 4442 GELA 

supplied with I3 and I4). Replace the wiring compartment cover. 

5. Install the ballast tray. Plug lamping module into quick connect, if applicable. 

6. Install the correct lamp. DO NOT EXCEED the maximum wattage marked 

on the fixture. 

7. Clean gasket seating surfaces. Screw holes can be blown clear or cleared with 

a #10-24 tap. Insert screws through lid and tighten using an alternating torque 

sequence to 20 (min.) 30 (max.) inch-lbs. 

8. Fixture housing should be surrounded by a 3” (minimum) layer of sand or 

gravel to ensure drainage. Materials such as vermiculite and bark are for ground 

cover only. Full depths of these may cause overheating. In concrete pour cases, 

the housing is placed on a 4” (minimum) bed of gravel, with soil below. Do not 

install fixtures where water collects arid stands for any length of time.

HADCO warrants its products against defects in material and workmanship. Without charge, HADCO 

will either repair or replace (HADCO reserves the right to decide between repair or replacement) any 

properly installed HADCO product which fails under normal operating conditions within THREE YEARS 

from date of installation, provided it is returned to the factory transportation prepaid, and our 

inspection determines it to be defective under terms of this warranty. 

This warranty covers only equipment manufactured by HADCO and does not extend to

The I3 fixture offers outstanding strength 

through a single piece fiberglass composite 

housing with a color impregnated finish, with a 

lighting capacity of up to 100W. The I3 also 

includes an isolated wiring compartment, and a 

key slotted removable ballast tray with quick 

connect mounting, features not normally found 

on fixtures with a small footprint.

precise beam adjustment, the I4 is available 

with different reflector systems for use in wall 

washing to tree lighting, and the lamping 

module has adjustability for aiming.

HADCO IL516 INGROUND SPECIFICATION SHEET 

The IL516 is designed as a low voltage 

inground with a lighting capacity of 50W. The 

high strength composite housing is designed 

with a twist lock cover for easy access, and a 

silicone O-Ring provides a watertight seal in 

high-moisture environments.The IL516 micro 

inground is the smallest of the inground series 

and can also function as an above ground 

fixture by adding the optional mounting bracket.
