Admission requirements
General
The minimum academic requirements for
entry to the Certificate IV and Diploma
courses offered by PIBT are outlined on
page 27. Not all qualifications or countries
are listed and students with other
qualifications should send their details
for assessment.
PIBT has established a minimum
academic entry for its courses, however
each application will be assessed on its
individual merits.
Students who have completed professional
qualifications such as the London Chamber
of Commerce and Industry Diploma (LCCI)
are eligible for entry to PIBT. PIBT can make
conditional offers based on forecast or
preliminary results.
Mature age entry
Mature age students (20 years of age
and over) may be admitted to a course
without meeting the formal academic
qualifications. Evidence of relevant
work experience and other acceptable
qualifications will be required at the time
of submitting an application.
Credit transfer
Students with recognised tertiary studies
may be eligible for credits (also called
exemptions). Please provide subject
syllabus and certified copies of your
academic transcript.
English language requirements
International students must be able to
demonstrate English Language proficiency
before being permitted to enter one of our
courses. PIBT may ask selected students
to sit the Navitas English Test (NET) to
demonstrate English proficiency, however,
for visa purposes students from AL3-4
countries must sit the IELTS test.
A non-credit English Support Unit will be
available each semester. Students may
choose to enrol in this unit voluntarily or
enrolment may be imposed as a prerequisite
or co-requisite to other units
of study.
The unit is free of charge and will be
delivered for 3 hours per week between
Weeks 3 and 11 of each semester. The
unit also includes a component on Study
Skills. Students who do not meet the
English Language requirements may
be able to enrol in an English Language
Program or Mixed English Program (MEP).

Note: for visa reasons, the MEP is not available
for students from AL4 countries.

Certificate IV UFS (e.g. Law) must have IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
Certificate IV UFS (Nursing) must have IELTS 6.0 with no band less than 6.0. IELTS requirement is compulsory.
Students wishing to study Nursing must have an IELTS of 6.0 with no band less than 6.0 upon entry to the Diploma of Science (Health Studies).
PQP Communications stream – IELTS 6.0 with no band less than 6.0. IELTS requirement is compulsory.
