After many requests, I’m delighted that
we will once again be offering a
selection from Wentworth’s extensive
range.This will be on-going, with a few
designs being offered on a quarterly
basis. Our next issue will be September,
when we’ll have several seasonal jigsaws
on offer. As before these will be dispatched directly from
the Manufacturer,so excluding the jigsaws featured in this
article please allow 28 days for them to get to you.
The Wentworth Wooden Jigsaw Company has been
producing exquisitely crafted wooden jigsaw puzzles
since it was founded in 1994 by Kevin Wentworth Preston.
Using computer controlled lasers and state of the art
technology,Wentworth has become known for its quality
and design, and supplies in excess of 150,000 puzzles a
year in over 35 countries around the world.
Their skilled design team produces each cut most of
which include the famous unique themed "whimsy"
jigsaw pieces.Whimsies are specially shaped pieces cut
into puzzles "on a whim" by Victorian hand cutters and
Wentworth are one of the only companies still producing
these unique puzzles. From nature to music, from stately
homes to the beach, from gardens to vintage transport,
they have a cut pattern to suit.

Wentworth News - Operation Nowzad Dog
In late 2006 while fighting the Taliban in Helmand
province, a small group of Royal Marines also found time
to care for homeless animals that had been abandoned
when locals fled the area. Among them were dogs that
had been used for dog fighting, bitten in the face by a
snake, and two litters of puppies. The Mayhew Animal
Home, registered charity number 1077588, has been

helping animals in Afghanistan since 2001. We
(Wentworth) support Kabul’s only animal shelter and also
work with the Veterinary Science Faculty at Kabul
University, providing training and animal welfare
education for vet students. With the help of contacts
there, the dogs were transported to the Kabul shelter
when the Royal Marines were deployed to another
location. One dog was quickly adopted by an American
family.Two others, Nowzad and Tali, have been brought
back to the UK through quarantine and now enjoy a new
life with Sergeant P Farthing and his family.
Wentworth have been producing puzzles to help them
raise money for the Mayhew Animal Home .We are
featuring one of these and for each one sold a
contribution will be paid to this excellent charity.

Best of the Bunch!

May I first congratulate you on such excellent service, with
all jigs received of high quality. Having read your
newsletters, can I relate to the experience my wife and I
had when framing our ‘Christmas Surprise’? We thought it
a good idea during Christmas to hang it on the wall at the
bottom of our bed. However a couple of night’s before
Christmas in the early hours, there was a bump in the
room! The wife woke with a start.Was there somebody in
the room? Jumping out of bed I realised our ‘Christmas
Surprise’ jig had fallen off the wall. Quick as a flash, telling
the wife Father Christmas had arrived early…so it was only
right I should give him a drink. Popping off down stairs,
there were a few drinks put away. Whether Santa got on
his sleigh I don’t know but I cannot remember getting into
bed.What a nice Christmas we had.So many thanks for our
Christmas Jig. PS: As you may see in my order enclosed
(long night) we are looking forward to the coming season.

get into the festive spirit, but you’re certainly not alone.
Lots of members enjoy Christmas all year round. And this
year we hope to bring you many such jigsaws. Should we

never know how much’ by Mike Jupp and is one of the
‘silent skies series’. It pictures a countryside scene showing
an Aircrew in ‘ghost’, a memorial and a young person
pointing at an airman sitting on the ground. I remember
seeing it a few years ago and always wished I had bought
it at the time.

Grumble Grumble! Why do I have to lose my corner
for info that she can’t fit into her main section. Oh
well I suppose it will make you lot happy since
you’ve asked so many times!

You are invited to have a look round the factory and see
how they make their jigsaws, and there will also be loads
of great value puzzles for you to buy. It makes a great day
out so why not bring your friends & family.Well worth the
visit if you are able to go.

Did you indulge in our surprise Jigsaw? Amazing
Africa. We had loads of letters and phone calls so
lots of you enjoyed it. Got the piccies this time.
Can’t afford the reality, but I’m going to indulge
in ‘Best Beaches’. Sun hat on, bucket and spade
and a nice cool drink out in the garden
