Multicolor Laser Photocoagulator
MC-500
Selectable Laser Color Configuration
The MC-500, with its flexible laser unit configuration, enables the doctor to freely select and order the laser of
one, two, or three colors, among the three of green, yellow, and red lasers. It provides the doctor with only the
wavelength required in accordance with the clinical cases.
Ideal Laser Wavelength
The MC-500 adopts 577 nm laser as the yellow and 647 nm laser as the red.
The 577 nm laser has little absorption to xanthophyll and higher transmission rate through the opaque and
absorption rate to oxygenated hemoglobin than 561 nm and 568 nm laser. This applies to PRP, lesion close to the
macula, and has plentiful results associated with the Dye lasers.
The 647 nm laser has been used for many years with the Krypton lasers. This has less penetration to the tissues
than 659 nm laser and applies to the photocoagulation in deep part of chorioid.
LCD Touch Panel and Control Box
The LCD touch panel is bright and easily viewable.
When the status is switched from standby to ready,
the brightness decreases and does not hinder
doctor's view during treatment.
The POWER knob on the control box adopts the
useful dialing system. By turning the knob the doctor
can adjust the output power.
Memory for Photocoagulation Data
10 patterns of data (color, output power, exposure time, and interval time) appropriate to the clinical cases can be
preset and memorized.
Optional Accessories
Delivery Unit Connector in Front
Besides two delivery unit connectors in
back (standard), the combination of one
delivery unit connector in front and one in
back is available as a factory option. The
delivery unit connector in back helps cable
management. The delivery unit connector
in front helps with easy connect and
disconnect.
Remote Control
Power Foot Switch
The handheld remote control is useful
to control output power and
other photocoagulation
values remotely.
The power foot switch allows the
doctor to adjust the output power
(up/down) with foot action.

SOLIC (Safety Optics with Low Impact for Cornea)
All MC-500's slit lamp deliveries adopt the SOLIC optical design and provide low energy density on the
cornea and lens even with large spot sizes.
High Output Power
NIDEK's technology accumulated on research
and development of laser photocoagulator
over decades allows the MC-500 to output
maximum 1,700 mW of the green laser, 1,500
mW of the yellow laser, and 800 mW of the
red laser.
Small Foot Print
The MC-500 reduces its foot print by 43% from the
previous model.
Its small footprint provides the effective space saving
in the clinic room.
Size of the previous model
Economical and Ecological
As much as 60% of power consumption is reduced
from the previous model. With the energy saving,
NIDEK contributes to the global environmental
protection, which NIDEK has been promoting ever
since NIDEK obtained ISO 14001 certificate.
