ASPE CEO Kendzel appointed
to IAS advisory council
JAMES G. KEnDzEl, executive director
and CEO of the American Society
of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) has
been appointed to the International
Accreditation Service (IAS) technical
advisory council (TAC) for the newly
approved IAS Personnel Certification
Body Accreditation program.
The program (AC474), approved
in October, will recognize companies
and organizations that provide the
highest quality personnel certification
services. It is also an expansion
of the IAS Work Force Accreditation
program that includes accreditation
for training agencies (AC371) and
curriculum developers (AC372).
TAC members are senior managers
selected from personnel certification
bodies and from private and publicsector
agencies that use these services.
The IAS board of directors
authorizes committee members. TAC
activities relate to IAS accreditation
criteria and IAS rules of procedure.
The councils also advise on international
standards related to accreditation
and conformity assessment and
other subjects, as requested by the
IAS management.

the new MegaPress® system
for installing schedule 5 – schedule 40
black steel pipe and the MegaPressG
system for installing schedule 40
black steel pipe in sizes from 1 /2" to
2", using a unique press technology to
secure pipe connections in under
seven seconds. The systems use modern
cold press connections for pipe
installation and make watertight and
airtight connections.
The MegaPress system is ideal for
hydronic heat, chilled water, compressed
air, non-medical gases, fire
sprinkler systems, low pressure steam
and vacuums. The MegaPressG system
is designed for use in fuel oil and
natural gas applications.
More than 200 fittings are available
for both systems, ranging in sizes
from 1 /2" to 2" that include elbows,
couplings, reducers, tees, reducing
tees, threaded adapters and unions.
The systems use a stainless steel grip
ring with an EPDM sealing element
for the MegaPress system or hnBR
for the MegaPressG system, along
with a carbon steel separator ring that
ensures the sealing element and grip
ring perform at maximum capacity.
Ideal for industrial, commercial
and residential applications, the Viega
MegaPress and MegaPressG systems
are easy to use, flameless and environmentally
friendly.
