soils need proper soil and water management
and application of gypsum for amelioration
before initiating agricultural production. The
area lacked good quality irrigation to flush out
excess salts deposited from the application of
poor quality ground water. Suitable salt tolerant
varieties may also be practiced for sustained
agriculture particularly in the rabi season.

Mapping Salt Affected, Waterlogged Soils
in Rohtak, Jhajjar and Bhiwani Districts of
Haryana using Remote Sensing and GIS
(Madhurama Sethi , M.L Khurana, S.K. Gupta
and D.S. Bundela)
IRS P-6, LISS III images of 2006 and 2007 (Fig.
2) with a resolution of 23.5 m were used to map
and identify salt affected soils of Jhajjar District,
Haryana. The (SOI) topographic maps on
1:50000 scale were used for geo referencing and
base map preparation. The study area lies
