About <strong>General</strong> Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA)<br />

The <strong>General</strong> Insurance Association of Singapore is the <strong>General</strong> Insurance industry’s trade<br />

association whose membership comprises of 33 Ordinary Members and 1 Associate<br />

Member, licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to transact general<br />

insurance business in Singapore.<br />

It aims to promote and advance the common interests of members and the <strong>General</strong><br />

Insurance industry.<br />

The GIA constitution Empowers the Management Committee to Embark on activities that<br />

would Promote and Advance the Common interests of members and the <strong>General</strong><br />

Insurance Industry through:<br />

• Fostering public confidence in and respect for the insurance industry<br />

• Representing members’ interest to Government, Trade Bodies, Similar<br />

associations and bodies in other industries<br />

• Establishing a sound insurance structure and promotion of greater efficiency<br />

within the industry<br />

• Promoting education and training in all aspects of insurance<br />

• Being a good corporate citizen<br />
