The <strong>General</strong> Insurance Association of Singapore is the <strong>General</strong> Insurance industry’s trade<br />
association whose membership comprises of 33 Ordinary Members and 1 Associate<br />
Member, licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to transact general<br />

About the speakers<br />
MR. BEN LIANG<br />
ALLIANZ SE REINSURANCE ASIA PACIFIC<br />
SENIOR MANAGER, NON-LIFE TREATY DIVISION<br />
Mr. Ben Liang works at Allianz Re Singapore as a Senior Manager in the Non-Life treaty division. Ben<br />
has ten years of experience in the general insurance industry with majority of that focused on<br />
reinsurance. He has worked as an actuary, consultant, reinsurance broker and now treaty<br />
underwriter. He has experience in a wide range of insurance/reinsurance products from workers’<br />
compensation, property per risk and catastrophe, medical malpractice, professional liability, general<br />
liability to commercial auto. Currently, Ben is responsible for business in Korea, Taiwan, Philippines<br />
and Singapore.<br />
Ben is an associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society. He is also a graduate from the University of<br />
California at Berkeley with a degree in economics.<br />
MR. ANDY GUNAWAN<br />
QBE INSURANCE (INTERNATIONAL) LIMITED<br />
REGIONAL UNDERWRITING MANAGER<br />
SOUTH EAST ASIA SURETY<br />
Mr. Andy Gunawan was appointed as QBE's Regional Underwriting Manager in September 2008 to<br />
commence and develop QBE’s Surety business in South East Asia.<br />
Prior to his appointment in QBE, Andy spent four years of underwriting in AIG, moving from within<br />
Financial Services area of business to focusing on Surety. Andy was responsible for underwriting and<br />
development of AIG's Surety business in South East Asia as well as Australia, New Zealand and<br />
Guam.<br />
Previously before joining AIG, Andy was in the Credit & Country Risk Management of United Overseas<br />
Bank for five years. During this time, he assessed the Bank's credit risks by analyzing the credit<br />
quality of its portfolio of corporate borrowers, and monitoring the Bank’s compliance with various<br />
statutory and <strong>intern</strong>al credit policies and guidelines. Andy was also involved in the development and<br />
implementation of the Bank’s <strong>intern</strong>al ratings based approach to comply with Basel II requirements.<br />
Andy holds a Bachelors degree in Banking and Finance from Monash University, Melbourne.<br />
