Supporting Parents and Students<br />
Student Wellbeing<br />
The Wellbeing Team consists of <strong>the</strong>:<br />
• Student Counsellor;<br />
• <strong>College</strong> Chaplain;<br />
• Youth Health Nurse;<br />
• Visiting DEECD Psychologist;<br />
• Visiting DEECD Social Worker.<br />
The Wellbeing staff provide support,<br />
information and referrals for a<br />
full range of health and wellbeing<br />
issues. They also host a range of<br />
events throughout <strong>the</strong> year including<br />
Harmony Day, National Youth Week<br />
and Wellbeing Week celebrations.<br />
Our Wellbeing Team host morning<br />
teas for groups of students including<br />
young carers and students living<br />
independently, oversee our <strong>college</strong><br />
weekly breakfast program and provide<br />
important information <strong>to</strong> students<br />
through Pathway Program Workshops.<br />
A close working relationship develops<br />
between students and teachers at BSSC.<br />
Teachers will invite students <strong>to</strong> address<br />
<strong>the</strong>m by <strong>the</strong>ir christian name and <strong>the</strong>y<br />
will encourage students <strong>to</strong> approach<br />
<strong>the</strong>m or email <strong>the</strong>m whenever <strong>the</strong>y<br />
have a question or concern ra<strong>the</strong>r than<br />
waiting for a problem <strong>to</strong> develop.<br />
Pathway Advisors<br />
Each student will have a Pathway<br />
Advisor who will generally be one of<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir classroom teachers. They will see<br />
students in class, Pathway Advisor<br />
meetings, assemblies and for personal<br />
interviews. The Pathway Advisor will<br />
develop a good relationship with each<br />
student and be responsible for guiding<br />
<strong>the</strong>m through <strong>the</strong>ir studies and assisting<br />
<strong>the</strong>m in developing <strong>the</strong>ir Individual<br />
Education Plan.<br />

Classroom Teacher<br />
Teachers will get <strong>to</strong> know <strong>the</strong>ir students<br />
very well. They will lead <strong>the</strong>m through<br />
<strong>the</strong> curriculum in class and will be<br />
available for help outside of class.<br />
You will receive feedback from<br />
classroom teachers through formal<br />
reporting processes. However, parents<br />
are welcome <strong>to</strong> contact a classroom<br />
teacher at any time <strong>to</strong> discuss concerns.
