FNQ Medicare Local’s key achievements for 2013-2014:
• working with the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service to help reduce
avoidable hospital admissions and management of complex and chronic conditions
• FNQML collaborated to enable delivery of flexible outreach mental health services to
drought-affected regions
• increased engagement with GPs on a range of issues, such as after-hours funding,
immunisation, eHealth, Indigenous health, telehealth, allied health, electronic referrals,
and clinical reports
• 1,400 patient referrals to Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS) and 3,000
sessions with a psychologist and more than 100 people referred to Partners In Recovery
(PIR) – for people with severe and persistent
mental illness with complex needs.
