Company Overview 

• Ebac was founded in 1974 by Mr. John Elliott to exploit the dehumidifier market - Ebac’s core 

business. Ebac is a privately owned Bishop Auckland company with it’s main manufacturing base in 

Bishop Auckland, Co. Durham. 

• One of Ebac’s core skills is the design, manufacture and marketing of refrigeration equipment. This 

expertise is applied to the following products - Dehumidifiers, Air Conditioning and Water Coolers. 

• In addition to the manufacturing plant in the UK, Ebac has and assembly plant in the USA, and sales 

organisations in France, Germany, Holland and the USA 

• Ebac products are sold in over 20 countries through out the world. Exports now account for over 50% 

of the company turnover. 

• Ebac was the first British company to see the potential of dehumidifiers in the UK market. 

• The first units were designed in the early 1980’s. Since then Ebac has remained brand leader in a 

market which has increased to over 100,00 units per annum. 

• During these 17 years Ebac has faced increased competition but has been able to maintain it’s 

position by constantly improving the specification of the product primarily in the areas of sound 

reduction and design. These are important in the European market for domestic dehumidifiers.

water, Ebac is now one of the largest suppliers into the European

• Ebac was founded in 1974 to manufacture drying 

equipment primarily for the hire and construction industry 

in the UK 

• These basic models (BD150 and BD70) are still currently 

manufactured and widely accepted by the Hire Industry in 

the UK 

• In addition to the industrial markets, the Commercial 

Division also manufactures a number of dehumidifiers for 

the Ministry of Defence and associated companies 

(Pleassey Radar / Siemens) for humidity control of 

“shelters” and also “moth balling” of equipment (tanks 

etc.) whilst in storage
