REHOBOTH CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES 30 YEARS Membership Campaign 2006 Celebrating Rehoboth’s 30th Anniversary In our 30th year, our goal is to reach 5000 memberships (at $10.00 per membership = $50,000) and $250,000 in individual donations! (An average donation of $50.00 per member) Your Rehoboth membership can and does make a difference! Your membership along with your prayers, can and does affect government decisions when CEO/Executive Director, Wally Mulder negotiates funding for the programs Rehoboth Christian Ministries operates in support of the individuals who live with disabilities that we serve. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Our volunteer Contact Persons will be recruiting volunteer canvassers to solicit memberships and donations from thousands of supporting members of over 60 supporting churches and individuals from across the Province. Please respond generously when a volunteer contacts you regarding the Rehoboth Membership Drive in your congregation. If you are not contacted by one of our volunteer canvassers this fall, please take a few minutes to fill in the form on the back page of this Newsletter and send it along with your membership fee and donation to: Rehoboth Christian Ministries, 3920 – 49 Avenue, Stony Plain, Alberta, T7Z 2J7 – or you can log on to our website at www.rehoboth.ab.ca and make your contribution “on-line.” Rehoboth is truly blessed and continues to expand and grow because of the generous and faithful support of God’s people throughout the province. Annual General Membership Meeting Highlights To celebrate Rehoboth’s 30th Anniversary and the Three Hills program’s 10th Anniversary, the Rehoboth Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday, June 24 at the Three Hills Community Centre in Three Hills. Following is a brief summary of the day’s events: 1. The Audited Financial Statement for the fiscal year ended on March 31, 2006 was presented. It reported Operational Revenues of $12,533,618.00 and Operational Expenses of $11,911,418.00, or an excess of Revenues over Expenses from Operations of $622,200.00. 2. The Operating budget for the year 2006/2007 was presented and approved by the membership in attendance. It projects revenues and expenses of $11,643,096.00 for the year. 3. Rehoboth acknowledged the commitment and dedication of retiring Board Member, Mr. Walter Noot for six years of service. After serving in the capacity of Rehoboth’s Board Treasurer for over 25 years, Walter Noot has indicated his desire to retire from voluntary service at Rehoboth Christian ministries. We acknowledge Walter’s invaluable service and leadership and thank Mr. Bob Greig (left) presented Rehoboth with a Certificate of Accreditation. him for countless hours of volunteer work on Rehoboth’s behalf. Mr. Otto Salomons of Lethbridge, and Mrs. Barb Slomp of Edmonton Rehoboth Christian Ministries Mission Statement In obedience to the will of God, Rehoboth shall convey God’s love to persons with disabilities and their families by “making room” for them through personal support, advocacy and public education and by providing them with opportunities for personal growth and meaningful participation in society. Financial Policy Spending of funds is confined to Board approved programs and purchases. Each donation that is designated toward an approved program will be used as designated with the understanding that when any given need has been met, designated donations will be used where most needed. 30 YEARS REHOBOTH CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES were both re-elected to a second three year term to Rehoboth’s Board of Directors. 4. Mr. Bob Greig, President of Alberta Council of Disability Services presented Rehoboth with a Certificate of Accreditation. 5. Though not all were in attendance, 104 staff members were acknowledged for Two, Five, Ten, Fifteen and Twenty Year Staff Service Awards. 20 Years of Service – Alex Hann, Cindy Steenbergen 15 Years of Service – Yvonne Krause, Connie McEwan, Karen Faint 6. Greetings from invited Regional Community PDD Board Representatives, including; Linda Hiebert, Community Supports Coordinator for Central Region PDD, Don Risdon, Chair of the Dr. Alex Hillyard Edmonton Region PDD Board, Sharon Rowntree, Chair of the South Region PDD Board, and Dr. Alex Hillyard, CEO of the Calgary Region PDD; were offered to members, staff and clients of Rehoboth. 7. Reports from the various regions in which Rehoboth provides supports, as well as from the Camp Coordinator, Manager of Human Resources, Director of Operations, and Executive Director were highlighted. Rehoboth Golf Classics Both the Coaldale and Stony Plain tournaments raised $30,000 – thank you to all the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers who made these tournaments the huge success they were… Staff service awards 10 Years of Service – Paulette Goerz, Minnie Depas, Jan Splane, Jessalyn Smith, Teresa Elliott-Doersam, Gaylene Archibald, Elizabeth Thompson, Debora Dietz, Naomi Bauman, Dorothy Hunt 5 Years of Service – 22 employees 2 Years of Service – 67 employees Following the Rehoboth Annual General Meeting, a Celebration Banquet was held at the Community Centre – highlighting the Handbell Choir, a Power Point Presentation of the programs in Three Hills, and greetings from Mr. Richard Marz, MLA for the Old-Didsbury-Three Hills constituency and Mr Rob Lougheed, MLA for Strathcona County, Ron Wilson, Deputy Mayor - Town of Three Hills and also Chair of 2005-2006 Board of Directors Richard Mraz, MLA, presenting 10 Year Anniversary Plaque for Rehoboth Three Hills the Premiers’ Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities. Certificates of length of participation were presented to the individuals receiving services in the Rehoboth-Three Hills programs.
